Jordan McNamara offers some caution. [] INSIDE THIS ISSUE 1. [CAR - Andy Dalton to open as QB1?](#1) 2. [NO - Michael Thomas closer to 100 percent](#2) 3. [DEN - Javonte Williams ready for camp?](#3) 4. [NO - Foster Moreau could be at camp](#4) 5. [DET - Hendon Hooker prepping while recovering](#5) 6. [NFL - Carson Wentz working out](#6) 7. [NO - James Washington to visit](#7) 8. [DET - Jahmyr Gibbs sits out practice](#8) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [CAR - Andy Dalton to open as QB1?](=) Source: ESPN.com - David Newton Carolina Panthers QB Andy Dalton will work with the first-team offense when summer OTAs begin, according to head coach Frank Reich. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Dalton is there to begin the offseason workouts as the starter, but he may not be in that seat for long. The Panthers moved up to no.1 overall in the 2023 NFL draft so they could take Alabama QB Bryce Young. He's been impressing HC Frank Reich so far in rookie minicamp, and everyone knows that Young is the future of the franchise. Dalton is fine as a starter, but Young has tremendous upside in this league. The Panthers are likely to turn things over to him sooner rather than later. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [NO - Michael Thomas closer to 100 percent](=) Source: ESPN.com - Katherine Terrell New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas (foot) had hardware in his foot removed a week ago, head coach Dennis Allen said Saturday, May 13. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The good news about Thomas doesn't get us excited anymore. We've heard good news about Thomas over the last few years, and he's played in 10 games since the start of 2020. We'll have to see it before we believe it, but there's a tipping point when considering Thomas in your fantasy league. If he falls too far, the upside is too good to pass up. Considering Thomas as a WR4/WR5 sounds about right given his injury history. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [DEN - Javonte Williams ready for camp?]( Source: ESPN.com - Jeff Legwold Denver Broncos RB Javonte Williams (knee) is expected to be ready for the start of training camp according to head coach Sean Payton on Saturday, May 13. 'Our current starter is doing extremely well. I would tell you we expect him to be ready for the start of training camp and that's good news -- [that's] Javonte,' Payton said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Another day, and another report about Williams potentially being available at the start of training camp. It's difficult to believe considering the severe injury that Williams is coming back from. This is more than just your standard ACL injury (which is bad enough), but we're confident the Broncos will be cautious with their starter as he continues to recover. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [NO - Foster Moreau could be at camp](=) Source: ESPN.com - Katherine Terrell New Orleans Saints TE Foster Moreau (illness) 'absolutely' has a chance to participate in OTAs in two weeks, head coach Dennis Allen said Saturday, May 13. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We're rooting for Moreau as he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma less than two months ago. Taysom Hill is the lead tight end for the Saints, and Juwan Johnson is a big-bodied option at the position in the red zone. We'll see how Moreau can work his way into the mix with those two. Catching passes from his Raiders teammate QB Derek Carr will help establish his role with the Saints. [DET - Hendon Hooker prepping while recovering]( Source: NFL.com - Christian Gonzales Detroit Lions QB Hendon Hooker (knee) said he is focusing on 'mental reps' while he recovers from knee surgery and is unable to practice. 'Taking reps behind the quarterbacks that are in and just playing the game in my mind until I can actually get out there but I'm still preparing and I'm hungry,' Hooker said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hooker had first-round talent, but he fell in the draft because of the knee injury he suffered last year. There are reports indicating he could be ready for Week 1, but the Lions have no reason to rush him back into action. If healthy and playing up to his potential, Hooker could be a Pro Bowl-level quarterback. For now, he'll sit and learn behind starting QB Jared Goff. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [NFL - Carson Wentz working out](=) Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler Free-agent QB Carson Wentz (Commanders) has been working out this offseason and is receiving interest from a few teams. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Earlier this year, reports came to the surface about how Wentz still wants to keep playing football - no matter what the role. He is open to both starter and backup roles and may not sign with a team until later in the offseason. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [100% Deposit Match Up To $100 At Underdog Fantasy]( --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [NO - James Washington to visit](=) Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler Free-agent WR James Washington (Cowboys) is scheduled to meet with the New Orleans Saints Monday, May 15, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Washington has never played up to his full potential in a few stops around the league, but he's got talent as a downfield receiver. He's the type of veteran who can add depth and security to a team in need of that at the wide receiver position. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [DET - Jahmyr Gibbs sits out practice]( Source: DetroitLions.com - Tim Twentyman Detroit Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs (ankle) did not practice Saturday, May 13, after suffering a minor ankle injury. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We're sure it's nothing serious, but that's not the way Gibbs wanted to start off his pro career. Rookie minicamp injuries can linger into OTAs later this month and early next month. Again, this sounds like a minor injury but it is something to watch with the playmaker the Lions moved up to take in the first round of the 2023 NFL draft.
