[] 1. [DAL - Big plans for Deuce Vaughn?]( Source: SI.com - Adam Schultz Dallas Cowboys RB Deuce Vaughn is viewed as a potential every-down back, according to personnel director Will McClay. 'You can run your regular offense through him,' McClay said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Vaughn is a dangerous runner in space, and he can make defenders who try to tackle him in the open field look silly. Think Darren Sproles when you think of what Vaughn could be in the pros. Vaughn is a small but compact runner who could be an effective player on third downs. We'll see how he works into the offense behind starting RB Tony Pollard this year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [CHI - Justin Fields 'making strides' as a passer](=) Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Myles Simmons Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields has looked stronger in his rhythm and timing so far this spring, according to head coach Matt Eberflus during his presser Friday, May 5.'Obviously, the priority is the passing game. We ran the ball very well (last year). But we all know that we've got to improve in the passing game. Part of that is the rhythm and timing. That's the footwork with Justin. He's been really working on that, really good - in terms of the quick pass, drop-back pass, movement passes. And he's really made some big strides in that area, coming so far on his own, and now coming into the Phase II, that first week,' Eberflus said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fields is hoping to follow a path similar to what we saw from Eagles' QB Jalen Hurts. The Bears have added more talent around him in the passing game, and that should continue to help him grow as a passer. Fields is still dangerous as a runner, but he'll need to be a better passer to play up to his enormous potential. So far, Fields is on the right track. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [IND - Indianapolis moves on from Nick Foles]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Indianapolis Colts QB Nick Foles was released Friday, May 5. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Who knows whether or not Foles is going to call it a career. Foles could still sign with a team for veteran depth, if he decides to keep playing football. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [IND - Evan Hull under contract]() Source: Click2Houston.com - Aaron Wilson Indianapolis Colts fifth-round draft choice RB Evan Hull agreed to terms with the Colts Thursday, May 4, worth $4.084 million. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hull is a North/South runner who can be tough to bring down when he builds a head of steam. In addition to his efficient running style, Hull is a fine route-runner and receiving option from the backfield. His pass protection needs work, and Hull needs to avoid dancing in the backfield to get the most out of his touches. He'll compete with guys like Zack Moss and Deon Jackson to establish a pecking order behind starting RB Jonathan Taylor. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [PHI - Two draft picks sign deals]( Source: PhiladelphiaEagles.com - Dave Spadaro Philadelphia Eagles sixth-round draft choice QB Tanner McKee and seventh-round draft choice DT Moro Ojomo signed four-year contracts with the Eagles Thursday, May 4. Financial terms were not disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] McKee is an interesting quarterback, but he's about as opposite of QB Jalen Hurts as you possibly could be. He's a tall pocket passer who throws a tight spiral. However, he's not good on bootlegs or rollouts and his accuracy goes "bye-bye" when he throws on the run. Marcus Mariota is the primary backup to Hurts, so McKee is likely bound for the practice squad where he could perhaps further develop. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [IND - Will Mallory agrees to deal]() Source: Click2Houston.com - Aaron Wilson Indianapolis Colts fifth-round draft choice TE Will Mallory agreed to terms on a four-year contract with the Colts Thursday, May 4, worth $4.13 million. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Mallory was one of our favorite sleeper tight ends in this draft class. He's a move tight end who can get down the field in a hurry. Mallory does a good job tracking passes, and his speed makes it difficult for linebackers to keep up with him in coverage. He's not a physical player (his blocking needs work) and won't rip away passes as much as you'd like. Keep an eye on him in crazy deep dynasty formats. [GB - Sean Clifford agrees to terms]() Source: Click2Houston.com - Aaron Wilson Green Bay Packers fifth-round draft choice QB Sean Clifford agreed to terms on a four-year contract with the Packers Thursday, May 4, worth $4.164 million. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We're surprised Clifford was drafted. He set a ton of records at Penn State, and Clifford's presence with the Nittany Lions was one of the reasons QB Will Levis transferred to Kentucky. However, Clifford is an athlete with few skills as a passer. In college, he could take advantage of wider windows but he does not show the ability to make tighter throws or lead his receivers regularly. If you made him a Taysom Hill-like player (Sean Payton and the Broncos did meet with him before the draft) then perhaps Clifford could stick around. He's likely bound for the practice squad in 2023. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [SEA - Kenny McIntosh under contract]() Source: Click2Houston.com - Aaron Wilson Seattle Seahawks seventh-round draft choice RB Kenny McIntosh agreed to terms on a four-year contract with the Seahawks Thursday, May 4, worth $3.93 million. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] McIntosh is a big play waiting to happen as a runner or receiver out of the backfield. We love his speed, and he sure does love finishing plays with physicality. McIntosh is not patient as blocks develop in front of him, so learning better pacing as a runner will be key to his pro success. The Seahawks have fellow rookie Zach Charbonnet to compete with Kenneth Walker for the starting job. McIntosh will be competing with DeeJay Dallas for a spot behind those two. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [GB - Four-year deal for Grant DuBose]() Source: Click2Houston.com - Aaron Wilson Green Bay Packers seventh-round draft choice WR Grant DuBose agreed to terms on a four-year contract with the Packers Thursday, May 4, worth $3.917 million. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] DuBose is a developmental prospect, but all the tools are there for him to be an impact player in the NFL if he plays up to his potential. He's got strength, and he can win contested catches. However, he puts himself in too many of those situations and needs to learn better nuance at the position. His route-running needs work, but DuBose does know how to track passes deep and he has late hands (so he doesn't tip the defender off that a pass is incoming). Watch him in deep dynasty formats. [JAX - Parker Washington agrees to terms]() Source: Click2Houston.com - Aaron Wilson Jacksonville Jaguars sixth-round draft choice WR Parker Washington agreed to terms on a four-year contract with the Jaguars Thursday, May 4, worth $4.032 million. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Washington is built like a running back, and he's certainly fearless when going over the middle. He's got no problem taking a hit and holding onto the ball, and shoulder tackling won't bring him down. Washington is not a burner, and he does round off his routes. We'll see if those skills are sharpened now that he's in the pros. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [NYJ - Israel Abanikanda inks rookie pact]( Source: ESPN.com - Rich Cimini New York Jets fifth-round draft choice RB Israel Abanikanda (Pittsburgh) signed a four-year contract worth about $4.2 million on Friday, May 5. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Abanikanda can play good football. He's not better than Jets' starter Breece Hall, but the team should use Abanikanda as a valuable reserve runner and receiver out of the backfield. Abanikanda is incredibly explosive and can eat up chunks of yards in a hurry. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [PHI - Dan Arnold finds new home in Philly]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Free-agent TE Dan Arnold (Jaguars) agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday, May 4. Financial terms of the deals were not immediately disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Arnold did not do much with the Jaguars, but he's got skill and could be a good depth piece for the Eagles' offense. He'll compete with guys like Jack Stoll and Grant Calcaterra to establish a pecking order behind starting TE Dallas Goedert. We also like converted QB Tyree Jackson as a deep sleeper tight end with the Eagles, but the addition of Arnold could cut into his opportunities.
