[SEA - SEA RBs to battle]() Source: SeattleSports.com - Brandon Gustafson Seattle Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker III and second-round pick RB Zach Charbonnet will battle for the starting spot in training camp, according to head coach Pete Carroll. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Walker is the incumbent, but Charbonnet has the skill to be a full-time back in this league. It's easy to see that he's a better receiver out of the backfield than Walker, but he lacks the power that Walker brings to the field. The new Seahawks duo will likely split time this year, but we'll see who comes out as the starter and who is the primary backup. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [GB - Jordan Love extended]() Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love signed a one-year extension Tuesday, May 2, that can be worth up to $22.5 million with $13.5 million guaranteed. The deal replaces a fifth-year option that would be worth around $20 million. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's a wise move for both sides. The Packers are giving him less than a fifth-year option, and Love is betting on himself to hit incentives. Love could be the future, and he's got this season to prove himself worthy. Fantasy GMs should be taking Love as a QB2 with an upside for the upcoming season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [CIN - Irv Smith 'entrenched' as starter?]() Source: The Athletic - Paul Dehner Jr. Cincinnati Bengals TE Irv Smith 'looks entrenched as the starter' for 2023, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic wrote on Saturday, April 29. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] So long as Smith stays healthy, that should be the case. Smith is a talented player who can attack the middle of the field with speed and athleticism, but he has yet to truly play up to his full potential in the pros (largely due to injury). Behind Smith, Drew Sample is there to back him up if/when injuries strike again. [DET - Detroit opening up extension talks with Jared Goff]( Source: Jeremy Reisman - Pride of Detroit Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff has reportedly entered the 'extremely early stages' of discussing a contract extension with the team, according to general manager Brad Holmes Tuesday, May 2. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Lions are looking for a good deal with Goff, who is entrenched as their starter for at least the 2023 season. However, they did spend a second-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft on Hendon Hooker. He's a highly developed passer with incredible upside if he stays healthy (Hooker is coming off a 2022 knee injury) and plays up to his potential. We could see Goff get a short-term extension before the start of the regular season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [KC - No fifth-year option for Clyde Edwards-Helaire](=) Source: Chiefs Digest - Matt Derrick Kansas City Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire will not have his fifth-year team option exercised, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It seems like just yesterday when Chiefs fans and Fantasy GMs were over the moon about the first-round running back that QB Patrick Mahomes wanted in the draft. Well, things change quickly around here and now Edwards-Helaire is not getting a fifth-year option making 2023 the final year of his contract with the team. Their lead back is 2022 seventh-round pick Isiah Pacheco, but Edwards-Helaire will be there for depth behind him on the bench. With Jerick McKinnon re-signed on Tuesday, that pushes CEH further down the depth chart. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [ATL - Penny Hart meeting with Atlanta](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Free-agent WR Penny Hart (Seahawks) worked out and visited with the Atlanta Falcons on Tuesday, May 2, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hart has the skill, but he has yet to prove himself in the pros. He's a quick receiver who can get open with speed and guile. Only Fantasy GMs in crazy deep dynasty formats should be monitoring his status. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [100% Deposit Match Up To $100 At Underdog Fantasy]( --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [KC - Jerick McKinnon back with Kansas City]( Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates Free-agent RB Jerick McKinnon (Chiefs) signed a contract to return to the Kansas City Chiefs on Tuesday, May 2, according to a source. Terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This move has been speculated for some time. McKinnon is the perfect complementary back for the Chiefs. He'll work behind starting RB Isiah Pacheco to give the Chiefs a tremendous 1-2 punch in the backfield. Pacheco has the power and speed, while McKinnon has the receiving ability in space - and speed - for the Chiefs' high-powered offense. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [NYG - NYG thinks highly of Bryce Ford-Wheaton]() Source: The Athletic - Dan Duggan Undrafted free-agent WR Bryce Ford-Wheaton (West Virginia) signed a contract worth $236,000 guaranteed with the New York Giants after the draft, which is the equivalent of a full-season salary on the practice squad ($216,000) plus a $20,000 signing bonus. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Ford-Wheaton was a favorite sleeper amongst the scouting community. He's a massive target (6-feet, 4-inches, 221 pounds) who ran a 4.36 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. His athletic profile has drawn comparisons to DK Metcalf, but a lack of playing up to his physical tools (he's got build-up speed and not instant burst) caused him to fall in the draft. As a priority free agent, Ford-Wheaton is easily worth taking a flier on. In fact, in super deep dynasty formats we're stashing him away in case he does hit on that enormous potential.
