[TB - QB Tom Brady retires](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB [Tom Brady](=) announced his retirement Wednesday, Feb. 1. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Farewell to the GOAT. This time, it might be for good. Brady said as much in a video saying goodbye to the NFL on Wednesday. He leaves the NFL with seven rings (six with the Patriots, one with the Buccaneers). Brady did not look the same this past season for the Buccaneers, but there is no doubt he could have continued playing for another team. Rather than make another run for a ring with a team like the 49ers, Brady is going to start enjoying retirement. There's little doubt he will end up as a TV analyst in the near future. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [SF - QB Jimmy Garoppolo not expected back in 2023](=) Source: Matt Maiocco - NBC Sports Bay Area Matt Maiocco, from NBC Sports Bay Area, reports San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said he sees no scenario in which QB [Jimmy Garoppolo](=) is back with the #49ers for the 2023 season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's best for both sides to move on. Garoppolo was not dealt before the 2022 season, and he ended up playing valuable snaps as the starter until he was hurt and rookie QB Brock Purdy took over (until he got hurt). With former no.3 overall pick Trey Lance also coming back from injury, the 49ers are likely to have him compete with Purdy for the starting job in training camp. Garoppolo should be able to find a starting job somewhere else, or at the very least he could compete for a spot somewhere else in 2023. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [MIA - QB Tua Tagovailoa clears procotol](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Miami Dolphins QB [Tua Tagovailoa](=) (concussion) has been cleared from the league's concussion protocol and is expected to be 100 percent for 2023, per sources on Wednesday, Feb. 1. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] In the concussion protocol since Week 17, Tagovailoa had to miss a month due to two separate concussions in the 2022 season. He needs to seriously think about his long-term health, and the Dolphins need to be extremely careful with Tagovailoa as he goes through the offseason program and into training camp. [NFL - RB Roschon Johnson breaks hand](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Texas RB Roschon Johnson (hand) broke a bone in his hand during practice at the Senior Bowl Tuesday, Jan. 31, and is likely out the rest of the week. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Bad news for a talented running back. Johnson was a backup to Bijon Robinson for the Longhorns, but he's got plenty of ability and was showcasing it through most of two practices at the Senior Bowl. We love his blend of power and instincts, and he's certainly a bit of a sleeper prospect to monitor in the 2023 NFL draft. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [DAL - WR Gallup Undergoes Surgeries]( Source: Michael Gehlken - Dallas Morning News Michael Gehlken, from the Dallas Morning News, reports Dallas Cowboys WR [Michael Gallup](=) underwent an arthroscopic procedure on Wednesday to his right knee and right ankle, two people with knowledge of the situation said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Per the Gehlken's twitter post about the surgeries, scopes give Gallup his best chance of a healthy 2023, as he's further removed from ACL tear to left knee. We'll see him healthy in time for training camp, but likely limited or a non-participant in spring workouts.
