[ARI - Dave Sears hired](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport The Arizona Cardinals have hired Detroit Lions director of college scouting Dave Sears to be their new assistant general manager, according to multiple sources. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Cardinals' new GM Monti Ossenfort has his right-hand man in Sears. The two worked together as scouts with the Houston Texans (2004-2005) years ago. Sears has an extensive history of quality scouting dating back to the 90s. He will help Ossenfort find talent in the draft, and we think rebuilding the offensive line could be a top priority for the new regime. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [PHI - QB Jalen Hurts not 100 percent](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Philadelphia Eagles QB [Jalen Hurts](=) (shoulder) won't be at 100 percent for the Divisional Round contest against the New York Giants, as he's still dealing with the effects of a shoulder sprain, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport on Saturday, Jan. 21. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This report has been out there for about a week. Now that we're to game day between the Giants and Eagles, nothing about the previous reports has changed. Hurts is not going to be 100 percent. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [SF - QB Jimmy Garoppolo making progress]() Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Charean Williams San Francisco 49ers QB [Jimmy Garoppolo](=) (foot) is no longer using a walking boot and returned to the practice field for rehab work Friday, Jan. 20, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] If the 49ers make the Super Bowl, then there's a chance Garoppolo could be available. He's back to working off to the side of the practice field, but Garoppolo is not close to returning. When he can play, Garoppolo is likely to be the backup to rookie QB Brock Purdy. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [DAL - Peyton Hendershot now questionable]( Source: ESPN.com - Todd Archer Dallas Cowboys TE [Peyton Hendershot](=) (hamstring) was added to the injury report on Saturday, Jan. 21, and is now questionable for the Divisional Round. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Cowboys play against the 49ers in the Divisional Round on Sunday afternoon. It sounds like Hendershot is on the wrong side of questionable. That could just mean more TE Dalton Schultz against the 49ers as the Cowboys are trying to make the NFC Championship. [SF - Brock Purdy expected to start in 2023](=) Source: San Francisco Chronicle - Michael Silver San Francisco 49ers QB [Brock Purdy](=) is expected to be the team's starter in 2023, per sources on Friday, Jan. 20. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Purdy has done a fantastic job running the 49ers' system. They could go after QB Tom Brady, getting him to his childhood favorite team for one season. However, Purdy's play this year may have changed their mind. We'll see what happens with former no.3 overall pick QB Trey Lance. He's not looked sharp, although there have been flashes when he's seen the field for the 49ers. The team could keep him or trade him. If Lance is on the roster, he could push Purdy for the starting job. As we often say, things change pretty quickly around here. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [CIN - Bengals, QB Joe Burrow to talk extension]( Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport The Cincinnati Bengals and QB [Joe Burrow](=) are expected to talk about a contract extension this offseason, per source on Saturday, Jan. 21. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Bengals should be ready to back up the Brinks truck to Burrow's locker. He's one of the best young quarterbacks in the league, and Burrow's deal could make him the highest-paid quarterback of all time. Burrow is entering the final year of his rookie deal, but expect the Bengals to pick up his fifth-year option for 2024...and then a new long-term contract after that. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [GB - QB Aaron Rodgers trade 'a very real scenario']() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Green Bay Packers QB [Aaron Rodgers](=) getting traded this offseason is 'a very real scenario', ESPN's Adam Schefter said on Saturday, Jan. 21. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This is where we're at with Rodgers, and it's been trending in this direction for some time. Two years ago, many thought (perhaps even Rodgers himself) that he was going to be traded to the Broncos. Last year, the Broncos hired Nathaniel Hackett seemingly in a way to entice/encourage a trade for Rodgers. When that didn't happen, the team traded for QB Russell Wilson. Now, it might finally be time for Rodgers to be dealt (Raiders, Titans, Jets, Panthers) so the Packers can get a look at former first-round pick QB Jordan Love in the final year of his rookie deal. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [TB - Several TB teammates believe QB Tom Brady could leave]( Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB [Tom Brady](=) is expected to take his time before making a decision about his future. However, some of his teammates believe he will not return to the club in 2023, based on their final interactions with him. One player stated, 'I'd be surprised if he's back,' while another said, 'He sounded like a person saying goodbye for good.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We just have a feeling that Brady will be playing somewhere else in 2023. The 49ers may have been his most likely destination, but the play of QB Brock Purdy (and oh yeah, they still have QB Trey Lance) might have changed their mind about adding the GOAT. No matter what, it just doesn't seem like Brady is going to be on the Buccaneers' roster in 2023. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks. Enjoy the games on Sunday and I hope all the bounces go your way.
