[NYG - WR Isaiah Hodgins added to injury report](#11) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [BAL - BAL's stance on QB Lamar Jackson unchanged]( Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Baltimore Ravens QB [Lamar Jackson](=) (knee) is still expected to negotiate a long-term contract in the offseason as the team's stance on him hasn't changed despite his recent knee injury. The team is expected to place the franchise tag on him if they don't reach terms. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The franchise tag is the most likely outcome...and it doesn't mean Jackson stays in Baltimore. There is plenty of buzz behind the scenes that we could see a tag-and-trade scenario work out for Jackson, the Ravens, and a QB-needy team (Panthers?). Jackson's future in Baltimore is most certainly up in the air. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [BUF - Buffalo elevates two]() Source: NFLCommunications.com Buffalo Bills WR [John Brown](=) and DT Eli Ankou were elevated from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Jan. 14. OT Justin Murray was signed to the practice squad, and DL Cortez Broughton was released from the practice squad. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Brown is a seasoned veteran (translation; old) but he can still take the top off the defense. If he were to make it on the field for the Bills in the Wild Card Round, we can't imagine him seeing many snaps other than to be a deep target/decoy. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [TB - WR Mike Evans good to go]() Source: Buccaneers Communications Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR [Mike Evans](=) (illness) practiced in full all week and was removed from the injury report on Saturday, Jan. 14. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Evans missed the season finale, but the last time out (Week 17) he caught 10-of-12 targets for 207 yards and three touchdowns in the Bucs' Week 17 win over the Panthers. He'll be Tom Brady's main man against the Cowboys on Monday night in the Wild Card Round. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [TB - WR Julio Jones ready to roll](=) Source: Buccaneers.com - Brianna Dix Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR [Julio Jones](=) (knee) practiced in full all week and was removed from the injury report on Saturday, Jan. 14. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Good news for the Buccaneers here. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has never beaten Tom Brady, and the Buccaneers might be a tough out on Monday night. Having Jones available is going to be a boost for the Buccaneers' offense as they play against the "check whoop ass" defense of the Cowboys. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [BAL - Baltimore makes roster moves]() Source: NFLCommunications.com Baltimore Ravens WR [Tylan Wallace](=) (hamstring) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Jan. 14. DB Ar'Darius Washington was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster. WR [Andy Isabella](=) and WR Binjimen Victor were elevated from the practice squad to the active roster. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Ravens don't have much at the wide receiver position. They don't have QB Lamar Jackson out there, and their offense doesn't provide much punch. The Bengals should be able to roll their divisional opponent in the Wild Card Round. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [WAS - Sam Howell the starter for 2023?]() Source: CBSSports.com - Jonathan Jones Washington Commanders QB [Sam Howell](=) will likely be the starting quarterback for 2023, the team is telling offensive coordinator candidates, per sources on Saturday, Jan. 14. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Howell completed 11-of-19 passes for 169 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the Commanders' 26-6, Week 18 win over the Cowboys, adding five carries for 35 additional yards and one touchdown. That was enough to show that he could be the starter for next year (in addition to what he did in training camp and the preseason). Once thought of as the best quarterback in college football, and a possible no.1 overall draft pick, Howell's final year at North Carolina went off track and the Commanders were able to get him in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL draft. We should see them build around Howell for the future. [IND - Ben Johnson interviews with Indy](=) Source: Colts.com Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Benjamin Johnson interviewed with the Indianapolis Colts Friday, Jan. 13, for their head coaching vacancy. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Lions had a good year, and both of their coordinators are getting head coaching interviews. Johnson worked wonders with QB Jared Goff and the Lions' offense. Both Johnson and Lions' DC Aaron Glenn have interviewed for the Colts open head coaching position. One of those two, and perhaps both, should be getting a head coaching job in this cycle. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [SEA - Seattle wants QB Geno Smith back](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Seattle Seahawks QB [Geno Smith](=) is expected to return in 2023, and if the two sides can't agree on a new deal, the team will consider using the franchise tag, which would cost around $30 million, per source on Saturday, Jan. 14. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Smith has been written off for a long time, but as he said early in the 2022 season "I didn't write them back." He may not be the long-term answer for the Seahawks, but he's done enough this season to stick around if the two sides can work out an agreement. Seattle has the no.5 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft thanks to the Russell Wilson trade (sheesh), and they should be considering quarterbacks at that spot. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [IND - CB Aaron Glenn meeting with Colts]() Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn is having a virtual interview with the Indianapolis Colts Saturday, Jan. 14, for their head coaching vacancy. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Glenn has been a rising star in coaching circles for at least a couple of years now. He was getting some interest last year as a head-coaching candidate, and Glenn might get that chance this time around. Glenn is well respected in the building by both players and coaches, but man alive was the Lions' defense a hot mess in 2022. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [LAR - QB Matthew Stafford sticking around](=) Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Los Angeles Rams QB [Matthew Stafford](=) is expected to have his 2023 option bonus and 2024 salary picked up by the third day of the new league year, which will amount to $62 million in guaranteed money the next two years, per sources on Saturday, Jan. 14. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Rams are 'bringing it back' like Fred Durst with Stafford and head coach Sean McVay staying for the 2023 season. Stafford was barely healthy (elbow) last offseason, and this offseason he'll be dealing with the spinal contusion that ended his 2022 season. They may not be able to push for a Super Bowl again, but the Rams at least want to get back to respectability in 2023. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [NYG - WR Isaiah Hodgins added to injury report]() Source: Giants.com - Dan Salomone New York Giants WR [Isaiah Hodgins](=) (ankle) was added to the injury report on Saturday, Jan. 14, with an ankle injury but has no designation and is expected to play in the wild-card game against the Minnesota Vikings. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Giants don't have much at the wide receiver position, and Hodgins has been making plays for QB Daniel Jones. He is expected to play, but this ankle injury could mean he's limited in the Wild Card Round...or he could be an early exit if the injury is aggravated during the game.
