[] 1. [GB - QB Aaron Rodgers talks future]( Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky Green Bay Packers QB [Aaron Rodgers](=) indicated he would take some time following the team's season-ending loss to decide whether he'd return for the 2023 season in an effort to 'take the emotion out of it.' Rodgers' contract contains a $58.3 million bonus that he would forfeit by retiring. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] A trade would come with massive salary cap implications and so would a release. Rodgers has been thinking about retirement for some time now, and he seemed to be taking it all in after the Packers' game on Sunday. Green Bay does have QB Jordan Love waiting in the wings if Rodgers retires. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [MIA - QB Tua Tagovailoa not cleared yet]() Source: ESPN.com - Marcel Louis-Jacques Miami Dolphins QB [Tua Tagovailoa](=) (concussion) has not been cleared to return to the field yet, but head coach Mike McDaniel said the team hopes to know more about his status later in the week. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The status of Tagovailoa is uncertain at this point. As the week goes on, we'll have a better idea if he's going to be available in the Wild Card Round. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [NE - Bill Belichick returning](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said he'll return for the 2023 season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This past season was just plain bad for the Patriots, and we didn't see further development from QB Mac Jones. Belichick needs to figure out his quarterback situation, and then hiring a real offensive coordinator would make sense. In 2022, the Patriots leaned on Matt Patricia with disastrous results (of course). [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [ARI - QB Kliff Kingsbury fired](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury was fired Monday, Jan. 9. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Things change pretty quickly around here. It was about a year ago when the Cardinals extended both Kingsbury and GM Steve Keim. On Monday, both of them were fired by the team. Hired in 2019, Kingsbury was supposed to be a perfect fit with QB Kyler Murray. Instead, the offense never fully developed into the high-powered passing attack it was supposed to be. We'll see what kind of coach the Cardinals get for the future, and then we'll see how he meshes with Murray in the building. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [BAL - No update on QB Lamar Jackson]( Source: NFL.com Baltimore Ravens QB [Lamar Jackson](=)'s (knee) status for the Wild Card playoff game is uncertain at this time, according to head coach John Harbaugh. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Ravens had the plan to have Jackson ready for the playoffs. Well, here we are with the Wild Card Round this weekend. We'll know more about Jackson's status later in the week as practice rolls on. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [DEN - DEN wants to interview two more](=) Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans and Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris have been requested for interviews for the Denver Broncos' head coaching vacancy. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Ryans may be the hottest name out there when it comes to head coaching searches. The Broncos have a fine defense, but they need a ton of work on the offensive side of the ball. Going with a first-time coach for the fourth time in a row (Vance Joseph, Vic Fangio, Nathaniel Hackett) may not be in the Broncos' plans but interviewing Ryans just makes sense. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [BUF - S Damar Hamlin out of the hospital]() Source: NFL Network - Cameron Wolfe Buffalo Bills S Damar Hamlin (heart) was released from the hospital and allowed to travel back to Buffalo on Monday, Jan. 9. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fantastic news for Hamlin here. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [DEN - Dan Quinn sought for DEN interview](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn has been requested for an interview by the Denver Broncos as the team seeks permission to do so. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Quinn would make a lot of sense for the Broncos. He's been around QB Russell Wilson from their days together with the Seahawks. Quinn would likely hire someone like Brian Schottenheimer to run the offense - another coach with experience around Wilson. The Broncos will swing for the fences with guys like Jim Harbaugh or Sean Payton. However, Quinn might be the more realistic option. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [LAR - Sean McVay could decide on coaching future soon](=) Source: The Associated Press - Greg Beacham Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay told reporters he intends to 'take the next couple of days to really be able to reflect and (have) a lot of conversations that will dictate and determine the decision that's best for me and my family.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] McVay may want to head into the less stressful job of being a TV analyst. We'll see what happens with him in the near future. He'll leave the "F them picks" mess for someone else to clean up if he decides to quit. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [BAL - RB Gus Edwards in protocol]( Source: NFL.com Baltimore Ravens RB [Gus Edwards](=) (concussion) is currently going through the concussion protocol, according to head coach John Harbaugh. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Edwards will need to make it through the concussion protocol in order to play in the Wild Card Round. We'll see what his practice status is like later in the week. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [ARI - Vance Joseph possible at HC](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Vance Joseph will receive a long look in the head coaching search as he's a respected voice in the building. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Joseph was the head coach of the Broncos for two seasons (2017, 2018) but did not get the power and control that most get in that position. He could be better his second time around if he gets a chance to be a head coach again. A leader of men, Joseph understands the modern player and gets players to respond to his coaching. [] 12. [IND - RB Deon Jackson staying put]() Source: KPRC.com - Aaron Wilson Indianapolis Colts RB [Deon Jackson](=) signed his exclusive rights free-agent deal with the team Monday, Jan. 9. Terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jackson was thrust into playing time this year when injuries hit the depth chart. He'll return to compete for a roster spot and establish a pecking order behind starter Jonathan Taylor. Jackson is a hard-charging running back, and he's proven as a reliable receiver out of the backfield. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [TEN - Malik Boyd on Tennessee's radar]( Source: CBSSports.com - Jonathan Jones Buffalo Bills Senior director of pro personnel Malik Boyd is expected to interview for the Tennessee Titans' general manager vacancy. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Boyd, a former player in the 90s, has been working his way up in the scouting community for nearly two decades. He's a proven eye for talent, and Boyd has certainly been a big reason why the Bills have assembled such a strong group of players. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [CLE - Cleveland signs 10 to future deals]() Source: ClevelandBrowns.com Cleveland Browns WR [Daylen {NAME}](=), S Bubba Bolden, WR Mike Harley Jr., LB Storey Jackson, DE Sam Kamara, RB John Kelly, TE Zaire Mitchell-Paden, DT Roderick Perry II, WR Marquez Stevenson and OT Tyrone Wheatley signed Reserve/Future contracts with the Browns Monday, Jan. 9. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] In crazy deep dynasty formats, we'll continue to monitor Kelly at the running back position. He's bounced around to a few different teams, so he's unlikely to stick but we still love the player he used to be in college at the University of Tennessee. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [TEN - Tennessee reaching out to Glenn Cook](=) Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Nate Ulrich Cleveland Browns assistant general manager and vice president of player personnel Glenn Cook is expected to interview with the Tennessee Titans for their general manager vacancy. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Cook has been working hard in the scouting community for about a decade. He's considered one of the up-and-coming evaluators who should be running a team in the near future. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [PIT - Minor MCL sprain for TE Pat Freiermuth]( Source: ESPN - Brooke Pryor Pittsburgh Steelers TE [Pat Freiermuth](=) (knee) was diagnosed with a medial collateral sprain that will not require surgery Monday, Jan. 9. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Freiermuth had to leave the season finale, and now we know the injury is not as severe as feared. He'll continue to serve as a valuable target for QB Kenny Pickett. From a fantasy perspective, Freiermuth will be a touchdown-dependent TE1 once again in 2023. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 17. [NYJ - Breece Hall eyeing training camp return]() Source: The Athletic - Zack Rosenblatt New York Jets RB [Breece Hall](=) (knee) told reporters Monday, Jan. 9, that he is progressing at a faster rate than expected from a torn anterior cruciate ligament and will be ready for training camp next summer. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hall certainly looked good for the Jets while he was out there as a rookie in 2022. He was injured in late October with an ACL injury and a slight meniscus injury as well. We doubt he does much of anything in training camp or the preseason, but it's not out of the question that Hall will be ready for Week 1 of the regular season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 18. [ARI - Ian Cunningham likely to meet with Arizona]( Source: CBSSports.com - Jonathan Jones Chicago Bears assistant general manager Ian Cunningham is expected to interview for the Arizona Cardinals' general manager vacancy. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Cunningham has come up the ranks in the NFL with stops in Baltimore and Philadelphia in addition to Chicago. He's been around some of the best evaluators in the game, and Cunningham has a sterling reputation in the league. The Cardinals would be getting a quality GM if they were to hire Cunningham. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 19. [LAC - WR Mike Williams dealing with a back bruise]( Source: The Athletic - Daniel Popper Los Angeles Chargers WR [Mike Williams](=) (back) was diagnosed with a back contusion Monday, Jan. 9, after he made an early exit during the team's Week 18 game against the Denver Broncos. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Williams was knocked from the Week 18 game, but it sounds like he could be available for the Chargers' Wild Card game against the Jaguars. The game is on Saturday, so Williams should be quite limited during the week of practice. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 20. [MIA - RB Raheem Mostert dealing with broken thumb](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Miami Dolphins RB [Raheem Mostert](=) (thumb) suffered a broken thumb in the team's Week 18 game against the New York Jets. According to sources via Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Mostert's status is in doubt for the team's Wild-Card Round game against the Buffalo Bills. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Mostert may not be able to go in the Wild Card Round. That would open the door for Jeff Wilson to get more of the work in the Dolphins' backfield. Salvon Ahmed and Myles Gaskin would get more work if Mostert can't play. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 21. [TEN - Two San Fran execs set to talk with Tennessee](=) Source: ESPN.com - Nick Wagoner San Francisco 49ers assistant general manager Adam Peters and director of player personnel Ran Carthon are expected to interview for the Tennessee Titans' general manager vacancy. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Peters is one of the best talent evaluators in the league. He's been on the NFL radar as a future GM for some time now. The Titans may be the right fit for him. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 22. [HOU - Houston interested in getting to know Ben Johnson]() Source: KPRC.com - Aaron Wilson Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Benjamin Johnson is expected to interview for the Houston Texans' head coaching vacancy. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Johnson worked magic with the Lions in 2022. What he did with QB Jared Goff was remarkable, and the Lions became one of the best offenses in the league under Johnson's guidance. The Texans will likely be selecting a quarterback with the no.2 overall pick, and Johnson might be the right guy to lead this team in the future.
