I chose not to send our normal Daily Update yesterday as we were waiting for clarity on the Damar Hamlin situation during Monday Night Football. We don't know a lot more today. Per [NFL.com](, he remains in critical condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center's intensive care unit after suffering a cardiac arrest during Monday night's game against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Bills announced Tuesday afternoon. The league announced Tuesday afternoon that the Bengals-Bills game would not be resumed this week and no decision has been made as to whether the game will be played at a later date. We'll continue to lift up Hamlin in prayer. To get a better picture of who he is, this feature by [Tyler Dunne in his Go Long blog]() from last year is excellent. Hamlin's overcome tons of adversity to have made it to the NFL. I especially loved this part where Dunne writes about Hamlin's 6-year-old little brother and how the Pittsburgh native chose to stay in town for college. From the article: Without question, this little brother is the No. 1 reason Hamlin chose Pitt. He had 48 scholarship offers. He could've gone just about anywhere, whittling his top five down to Ohio State, Penn State, Notre Dame, Clemson and Pitt. The chance to affect this one life overrode the prestige of more storied programs. "I wanted to give him that image growing up," Hamlin says, "that he can look back on and be able to model himself after. That's something I never had. I had a bunch of examples of what not to do. I want to give him a different example. Me growing up, I always questioned if I was doing the right things. Just because I didn't have anybody to look to, to say like, 'This is the right thing to be doing.' ... I didn't have anybody I could look to or lean on. That's why I stayed home at Pitt. I chose Pitt over everybody. Just for that one reason -- for my brother." So good. Hamlin's had a foundation in place where he purchased toys for kids at Christmas. The funding goal was originally set at $2,500. It's over $5,000,000 as of Tuesday evening. You can donate [here.]( Lastly, a request and thought on the logistics of the NFL season and on Fantasy Football seasons: Please show some grace. I believe everyone from your local league Commissioner to the NFL Commissioner is doing their best here to do what's right. Please be patient. If you're playing DFS or one of the contests, they have strong incentives as a business to be as fair as possible. For your local league, please be especially patient. I'd urge you to keep your focus on why you're in the league in the first place. My guess is it's because you enjoy the people. So be kind to your Commissioner and fellow GMs and take your time working this out. There's no need to rush. Above all, I don't think you can go wrong with putting the highest value on unity and harmony, and camaraderie. Hopefully, that's why you're in the league. Don't let arguing over a ruling break up a good thing. We'll try to have an article with some ideas there soon. In the meantime, hug your family and tell the people you love that you love them. Lastly, it's a low priority, but our pledge to you has always been to keep you current on the news and what we think it means. We have a few bits of news below as we look toward Week 18. Peace and Grace to you. J ---------------------------------------------------------------

[] 1. [NFL - Cincinnati-Buffalo game will not be resumed this week](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport The NFL announced that the Monday Night Football game between the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals that was suspended on Monday, Jan. 2, due to the cardiac arrest episode of Bills S Damar Hamlin will not be resumed this week. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The league did not announce any changes to its Week 18 schedule, which includes Buffalo hosting the New England Patriots and the Bengals hosting the Baltimore Ravens. The NFL also has yet to announce a decision on resuming the game at a later date. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [MIA - QB Tua Tagovailoa uncertain for Week 18]() Source: MiamiDolphins.com - Travis Wingfield Miami Dolphins QB [Tua Tagovailoa](=) (concussion) is uncertain for Week 18 against the New York Jets, and head coach Mike McDaniel said Monday, Jan. 2, that he hasn't even thought about the quarterback's playing status for the regular-season finale. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Dolphins' quarterback situation is one to watch as the week of practice goes along. Rookie QB Skylar Thompson could be starting in Week 18 as veteran backup QB Teddy Bridgewater is getting looked at for a hand injury. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [TB - QB Tom Brady, starters expected in Week 18]() Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Mike Florio Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB [Tom Brady](=) appears likely to start in Week 18 against the Atlanta Falcons. 'We can get better at a lot of things, so right now I'm planning on playing (the starters),' head coach Todd Bowles said Monday, Jan. 2. 'We'll see as the week goes forward, but we can get better at a lot of things that we need to work on, and we don't need to take our foot off the gas.' Bowles didn't rule out pulling the starters at some point, however. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Buccaneers have won the NFC South, so there's no need to play the starters. They'll want to carry over some momentum after the big Week 17 performance, but we wouldn't be surprised to see the Buccaneers shut down their starters after a half or so. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [PHI - QB Jalen Hurts expected to play in Week 18](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Philadelphia Eagles QB [Jalen Hurts](=) (shoulder) is expected to play in the Week 18 game against the New York Giants. He was reportedly close to play in the Week 17 game against the New Orleans Saints, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Eagles have lost back-to-back games with QB Gardner Minshew starting. In a game against the Giants in Week 18, having Hurts out there would boost the Eagles as they try and secure the top seed in the NFC. Let's see what his status is like during the week of practice. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [IND - RB Jordan Wilkins let go](=) Source: Colts.com Indianapolis Colts RB [Jordan Wilkins](=) was waived Tuesday, Jan. 3. RB Jake Funk was signed off the practice squad to replace him on the roster. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] A 2018 fifth-round pick of the Colts, Wilkins was bounced in 2021 and spent time with the Jaguars and Titans. The Colts brought him back in early November, and he's bounced on and off the practice squad since then. The Colts are the sixth team that Funk has been on in his short NFL career. The Bengals picked up Funk in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL draft. We'll monitor him in super deep dynasty formats. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [CAR - Interested in Jim Harbaugh?]() Source: Joe Person - The Athletic Joe Person, from The Athletic, reports the Carolina Panthers owner Dave Tepper has talked to University of Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh about the team's head coaching vacancy. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Harbaugh had a ton of success with the San Francisco 49ers years ago, and the buzz is building that he will return to the league in 2023. The Broncos are also interested, and we could see his former team the Indianapolis Colts making a run. Harbaugh will have his choice, but if it comes down to the most money there is no team (and it's not even close) that can outbid the Walton-Penner Group in Denver. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [TEN - RB Henry Practicing on Tuesday](=) Source: Turron Davenport - ESPN.com Turron Davenport, from ESPN.com, reports Tennesee Titans RB [Derrick Henry](=) is practicing on Tuesday during the open media portion. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Henry did not play last week against the Cowboys. Getting a full practice in on Tuesday is a good sign for his availability against the Jaguars in Week 18. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [KC - Skyy Moore not practicing Tuesday](=) Source: ESPN.com - Adam Teicher Kansas City Chiefs WR [Skyy Moore](=) (hand) was present at practice but did not have his helmet Tuesday, Jan. 3. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Moore was injured in the game against the Broncos on Sunday. The rookie has flashed a bit this season, but he needs to stay healthy and become a consistent weapon in the offense. That being said, we still love him in dynasty formats because of his talent and the offense he's on. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [NYG - WR David Sills back with NY Giants]() Source: ESPN.com - Jordan Raanan Free-agent WR [David Sills](=) was signed to the practice squad of the New York Giants on Tuesday, Jan. 3. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] An undrafted free agent addition for the Bills in 2019, Sills has been with the Giants since that summer when he didn't make the team in Buffalo. Sills has bounced on and off the practice squad for years. He will be best remembered for being a phenom as a seventh-grade QB, getting a scholarship offer from then-USC head coach Lane Kiffin at age 13. Sills exhausted all options to be a quarterback, but he's been able to stick it out for a few years in the NFL as a receiver. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [DEN - TE Albert Okwuegbunam getting another chance]() Source: The Denver Post - Parker Gabriel Denver Broncos TE [Albert Okwuegbunam](=) played 37 out of 70 snaps in Week 17 against the Kansas City Chiefs - most among the team's tight ends and his most since Week 2.'I have been in Albert O's ear all week long because I think he is a highly talented individual. I haven't seen him much on the field this year, and I'm just curious as to why that was because he is a good-looking athlete,' interim head coach Jerry Rosburg said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Okwuegbunam was shut down for most of this season when Nathaniel Hackett was still the head coach. Since Hackett got fired, Okwuegbunam is getting more of a chance. He's still not a blocker, and Okwuegbunam has problems with concentration, but he's big, athletic, and can create mismatches over the middle of the field.
