Rough news from Philadelphia this week as it looks like quarterback Jalen Hurts will miss this week and possibly more with a shoulder issue. That's a gut punch for a player that's been playing great. Gardner Minshew is expected to take the reins if Hurts can't go. He's not Hurts, but he's one of the best backups in the league. Stay tuned. Plus we've got the other news and notes you need. [PHI - QB Jalen Hurts may miss Week 16]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Philadelphia Eagles QB [Jalen Hurts](=) (shoulder) may not be available for the Week 16 game because of a sprained shoulder he suffered during the Week 15 game, according to sources. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Keep a close eye on this one as other reports are suggesting Hurts could miss more than this week. Let's see how this progresses and we may be able to get some feel for how the Eagles will handle this with Hurts and possibly other starters. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [BAL - No Update on QB Jackson](=) Source: Jamison Hensley - ESPN.com Jamison Hensley, from ESPN.com, reports Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh did not give an update on the Week 16 playing status of QB [Lamar Jackson](=). [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Harbaugh said he is going to "climb behind the barricade" of not divulging injury information because of competitive reasons. Sigh. Okay, okay, the Ravens are never ones to give you a whole lot of information. The Falcons should likely prepare for the return of Jackson and hope that backup QB Tyler Huntley ends up playing. We'll know more about Jackson's status for Week 16 later in the week. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [IND - RB Jonathan Taylor likely done](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Updating previous reports, Indianapolis Colts RB [Jonathan Taylor](=) (ankle) is likely out for the season with a high-ankle sprain. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That's the best move for the Colts. They are near the end of a lost season, and Taylor's long-term health is much more important than rushing him back for some meaningless games. Taylor will finish 2022 with 192 rushing attempts for 861 yards and four touchdowns. He'll be the centerpiece of what the Colts do on offense (again) in 2023, but the Colts need to find a better quarterback than Matt Ryan. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [GB - WR Sammy Watkins released]() Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero Green Bay Packers WR [Sammy Watkins](=) was released Monday, Dec. 19. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The former first-round pick (Bills, 2014) might get picked up by a team in need of veteran depth at the wide receiver position. His best days are behind him, and in seven games with the Packers in 2022 Watkins only had 13 catches for 206 yards. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [LAC - Tests Negative for RB Ekeler]( Source: Jeff Miller - Los Angeles Times Jeff Miller, from the LA Times, reports Los Angeles Chargers RB [Austin Ekeler](=) had testing on his shoulder that came back negative. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Chargers head coach Brandon Staley says Ekeler could practice later in the week. Against the Colts in Week 16, Ekeler will be an RB1 (as per usual) for Fantasy GMs making their way through the playoffs. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [TEN - QB Ryan Tannehill on track to play](=) Source: NFL.com Tennessee Titans QB [Ryan Tannehill](=) (ankle) will be able to play in the Week 16 game even though he suffered an ankle injury in the Week 15 game, according to head coach Mike Vrabel. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Tannehill missed one drive in Week 15, but he came back onto the field with a heavily taped ankle and finished the game. He completed 15-of-22 passes for 165 yards and an interception in the Titans' 17-14, Week 15 loss to the Chargers. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [ATL - RB Caleb Huntley out for the season]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Atlanta Falcons RB [Caleb Huntley](=) (Achilles) will miss the rest of the season after suffering an Achilles injury in Week 15 against the New Orleans Saints. Huntley is expected to require surgery to correct the issue. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Achilles' injuries can be tough to come back from, although it's not impossible for Huntley to get back at some point early in the 2023 season. Undrafted out of Ball State in 2021, Huntley finished this season with 76 carries for 366 yards and one touchdown. [NYJ - Zonovan Knight uncertain for Week 16](=) Source: NFL.com New York Jets RB [Zonovan Knight](=) (knee) likely will be questionable for the Week 16 game because of his knee injury, according to head coach Robert Saleh. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Knight was bounced from the game against the Lions, rushing for only 23 yards on 13 carries. Michael Carter took over in the backfield, and he would be in line for a larger role if Knight misses Week 16. Ty Johnson and James Robinson could do more if/when Knight misses time. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [NYJ - WR Denzel Mims expected to miss Week 16](=) Source: NFL.com New York Jets WR [Denzel Mims](=) (concussion) is not expected to play in the Week 16 game because of a concussion. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Mims will go through the league's concussion protocol, and he's likely to be out in Week 16. He's flashed talent just a bit in his pro career, but Mims doesn't seem to fit what the Jets want him to do. A second-round pick in 2020, Mims will one day get a fresh start with a new team. We'll grab him on the cheap in dynasty formats and stash him just in case Mims turns into another Zay Jones. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [NYJ - QB Zach Wilson in line for another start](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport New York Jets QB [Zach Wilson](=) is in line to start again in Week 16 as QB [Mike White](=) (ribs) has several hurdles to overcome to return. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] In the Week 15 loss to the Lions, Wilson struggled upon his return to the starting lineup. He was just too inconsistent against the Lions, completing completed 18-of-35 passes for 317 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. The Jets host the Jaguars on Thursday night in Week 16, so Wilson will get another start. If he continues to struggle, White may return in Week 17. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [CHI - WR Chase Claypool has good chance to play](=) Source: NFL.com Chicago Bears WR [Chase Claypool](=) (knee) appears to be on track to play in the Week 16 game, according to head coach Matt Eberflus. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Let's see what he can do in practice before expecting Claypool to return. He did not practice at all last week due to this knee injury. Claypool should at least be limited to begin the week of practice. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [CHI - RB Khalil Herbert looking good for Week 16]() Source: The Athletic - Kevin Fishbain Chicago Bears RB [Khalil Herbert](=) (hip) will be activated from the Reserve/Injured list and returned to practice this week, according to head coach Matt Eberflus. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The plan was to bring Herbert back in Week 16. Fantasy GMs still alive in the playoffs can pick him up off waivers if he's out there. Herbert will go back to being the primary backup to RB David Montgomery. With Herbert's skill as a runner and receiver out of the backfield, he's got flex appeal for Fantasy GMs upon his return against the Bills. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [CAR - QB Sam Darnold to get at least one more start](=) Source: ESPN.com - David Newton Carolina Panthers QB [Sam Darnold](=) 'made some good throws' in Week 15 against the Pittsburgh Steelers and will make another start in Week 16 versus the Detroit Lions, according to interim head coach Steve Wilks. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Panthers fell against the Steelers, but Darnold is only expected to be a game manager for them. That's what he'll do against the Lions, and anytime he's out there as the starter for the Panthers in 2022. They have a low-volume passing game, so Darnold is not much of a fantasy option in Week 16.
