Our Dave Kluge has thoughts on how Buffalo running back James Cook can be a key to your championship. --------------------------------------------------------------- Cook's 43 percent snap share in Week 13 was the highest we have seen from him all season. In the same game, Devin Singletary logged 44 percent, his lowest of the year. Singletary had seen at least 72% of the snaps in each of the last 6 games. Not only did Cook see additional usage in Week 13, but he was much more efficient than Singletary. Cook amassed 105 scrimmage yards on 20 touches, while Singletary went for 51 on 13. Singletary scored a touchdown, and that skews the lens for fantasy, but there could be a changing of the guard underway. This offseason, the Bills expressed interest in Christian McCaffrey. They almost landed J.D. McKissic in free agency. They made a move for Nyheim Hines at the trade deadline. And, of course, they drafted Cook. Bills' offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey clearly thinks that a pass-catching back is the missing piece in this offense. That's exactly what Cook brings to the table. He has 11 targets over the last two games, tying and surpassing his season-highs in consecutive weeks. We see him integrated more into the offense every week, and he may inevitably take over the backfield before Devin Singletary hits free agency this offseason. Our Sigmund Bloom said to "empty the wallet for him". There's no guarantee that Cook will take over as the lead back. But his profile as a big-play back with pass-catching upside should make him a priority target in all formats. --------------------------------------------------------------- Plus we've got the News and Notes you need. [LAR - QB Baker Mayfield claimed by Rams]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Carolina Panthers QB [Baker Mayfield](=) was claimed off waivers by the Los Angeles Rams on Tuesday, Dec. 6. They inherit the $1.35 million remaining on his contract. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Rams need all the help they can get at the quarterback position with Matthew Stafford on IR. Mayfield should be able to get some time as the team's starter when he gets up to speed in the offense. The Rams play on Thursday, so Bryce Perkins should be their starter in Week 14. After that, Mayfield could push for the top job for the rest of the season with the Rams. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [SF - QB Jimmy Garoppolo could return for playoffs]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter San Francisco 49ers QB [Jimmy Garoppolo](=) (foot) could return for the players, according to a source Tuesday, Dec. 6. Further tests revealed he did not suffer a Lisfranc injury and does not need surgery. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [TEN - Jon Robinson fired](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero Tennessee Titans general manager Jon Robinson was fired Tuesday, Dec. 6. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Robinson has been a solid evaluator for years, but recently the Titans' moves have gone astray. They traded away WR A.J. Brown under Robinson's watch, and the team is going to have to move forward in the future without RB Derrick Henry. Vice president of player personnel Ryan Cowden will lead the team's player personnel for the remainder of the season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [BAL - QB Lamar Jackson dealing with PCL strain]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Baltimore Ravens QB [Lamar Jackson](=) (knee) was diagnosed with a posterior collateral ligament sprain Tuesday, Dec. 6. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jackson could miss a few weeks with this injury. That means Tyler Huntley is going to start at least in Week 14, and then we'll see about things after that. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [DAL - WR Odell Beckham Jr. not working out for teams?]() Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper Free-agent WR Odell Beckham Jr. (Rams) is only visiting - and not working out - for teams interested in his services before signing a deal, according to sources. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That makes sense. Beckham will visit, and he'll likely take physicals with these prospective teams. There have been speculative reports about teams having "considerable doubt" about Beckham's ability to play this year. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he's "not confident at all" in Beckham's knee health. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [NFL - WR Odell Beckham Jr. not expected back before playoffs](=) Source: The Dallas Morning News - David Moore Free-agent WR Odell Beckham Jr. (knee) will likely continue to rehabilitate his knee for at least another month, which makes it unlikely he will be able to return to the field at any point during the regular season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] There is considerable doubt that Beckham can return to the field during the regular season. He's meeting with teams right now, but Beckham is not working out for teams as he continues to recover from his knee injury. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [DEN - Greg Dulcich playing WR role](=) Source: BSNDenver.com - Zac Stevens Denver Broncos TE [Greg Dulcich](=) has been playing a wide receiver role in some sets, according to head coach Nathaniel Hackett. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Dulich is perhaps the lone bright spot in the Broncos' passing attack. The rookie tight end can stretch the field as a super-sized wide receiver, and he's earned the trust of QB Russell Wilson. Tight end is a mess this year for most Fantasy GMs, so pluck Dulcich off the waiver wire if he's out there. [LVR - WR Hunter Renfrow nearing a return](=) Source: The Associated Press Las Vegas Raiders WR [Hunter Renfrow](=) (oblique) is eligible to come off the reserve/injured list in Week 14, but with a Thursday night game against the Los Angeles Rams, and just walkthrough practices scheduled, it is likely he doesn't get activated just yet. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Renfrow hasn't played since Week 9. Before going down with this oblique injury, Renfrow wasn't doing much for the Raiders' offense. Let's see if that changes upon his return, which is likely in Week 15. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [ARI - WR Greg Dortch could return in Week 14]() Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban Arizona Cardinals WR [Greg Dortch](=) (groin) is making enough progress in his recovery that he may be able to play in Week 14 against the Patriots, according to head coach Kliff Kingsbury. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We could see Dortch out there as the team's no.3 receiver with Marquise Brown and DeAndre Hopkins on the outside. Monitor the health status of Rondale Moore as well, because he could cut into Dortch's snap count. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [LVR - TE Darren Waller eligible to come off IR](=) Source: The Associated Press Las Vegas Raiders TE [Darren Waller](=) (hamstring) is eligible to come off the reserve/injured list in Week 14, although with a game Thursday, Dec. 8 against the Los Angeles Rams, and only walkthrough practices this week, it is likely he doesn't play until Week 15. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's a short week for the Raiders, so we doubt Waller is out there against the Rams. However, we will be watching his practice status closely next week when they're preparing for Week 15. Fantasy GMs know the tight end position has been brutal this year, so getting Waller back will help. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [LAC - WR Mike Williams could practice this week](=) Source: NFL.com - Bridget Condon Los Angeles Chargers WR [Mike Williams](=) (ankle) might be able to return practice at some point this week, head coach Brandon Staley said Monday, Dec. 5. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Williams could practice, but he didn't practice at all last week and was promptly declared out of Week 13. We'll get more excited about his return when he's actually at least limited in practice. Until then, the Chargers can turn to guys like Josh Palmer and DeAndre Carter. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [SEA - RB Wayne Gallman making his way to Seattle](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Free-agent RB Wayne Gallman (Chiefs) was signed to the practice squad of the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday, Dec. 6. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Seahawks need more depth at the position due to injuries in the running back room. Darwin Thompson and Godwin Igwebuike are also on the Seahawks' practice squad for the moment. Kenneth Walker has a jammed ankle, Travis Homer, DeeJay Dallas, and Tony Jones also have various ailments. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [SF - QB Josh Johnson inks one-year pact with San Fran]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Free-agent QB Josh Johnson (Broncos) signed a one-year undisclosed contract with the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday, Dec. 6, officially marking his fourth stint with the team. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Johnson has bounced around to about half the teams in the league, and he's already been with the 49ers. He knows the system already, and Johnson gives them veteran experience behind new starter Brock Purdy. If Purdy struggles, Johnson might get in some starts this season.
