News and Notes from around the league  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ [Footballguys Email Updates](=) [Go PRO]( | [View Online](=) [Unsubscribe]( | [Sign Up]() [Footballguys.com](=)Daily Email Update • Vol. 24, #200 • Oct. 26th[,](=) 2022 --------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks To Our Sponsor, [Duolingo](=) Howdy {NAME}, Welcome in and buckle up. [DAL - RB Ezekiel Elliott expected to miss Week 8]() Source: Fort Worth Star-Telegram - Clarence E. Hill Jr. Dallas Cowboys RB [Ezekiel Elliott](=) (knee/thigh) suffered a grade 2 medial collateral ligament sprain in his right knee and a thigh bruise in Week 7 and is expected to miss Week 8, per sources on Wednesday, Oct. 26. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Get Tony Pollard in your lineup. Pollard is a high-value backup, and he's got RB1 upside as the starter. The Cowboys have a bye in Week 9, and then we'll see where Elliott is at in his recovery. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [NE - QB Mac Jones to start in Week 8]( Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates New England Patriots QB [Mac Jones](=) received nearly all of the snaps with the first-team offense during practice Wednesday, Oct. 26, and will be the starting quarterback in Week 8, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] There is no quarterback controversy in New England, at least that's what the team wants you to think. Bailey Zappe has looked better than a banged-up Jones this year. His ankle didn't look right in Week 7, but the team is going to trot him out there once again as the starter in Week 8. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [TB - WR Julio Jones a game-time decision]( Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR [Julio Jones](=) (knee) will be a game-time decision for Week 8, head coach Todd Bowles said on Wednesday, Oct. 26. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Even if Jones plays, Fantasy GMs aren't going to be starting him. In deeper leagues, if he's on your roster, just take a wait-and-see approach with Jones. The chances are he's on the waiver wire in a lot of leagues out there. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [PHI - Philadelphia adding DE Robert Quinn]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Chicago Bears DE Robert Quinn was acquired by the Philadelphia Eagles Wednesday, Oct. 26, in exchange for a fourth-round draft choice, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Seems like a great move for the Eagles as they make a Super Bowl run. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [DET - Jameson Williams update]( Source: ESPN.com - Eric Woodyard Detroit Lions WR Jameson Williams (knee) will be out at least another month, according to head coach Dan Campbell. The team still has hope that Williams can play this season. 'I do feel like we're gonna get him before it's all said and done,' Campbell said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fantasy GMs need to hold off on the Williams hype train. When he's almost back to the field, that will be the time to stash the talented rookie wide receiver on your bench. It sounds like Williams won't be back until December at the earliest. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [TB - WR Russell Gage ruled out]() Source: The Athletic - Greg Auman Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR [Russell Gage](=) Jr. (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 8. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The hits keep rolling for Tampa Bay. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [TB - TE Cameron Brate ruled out]() Source: The Athletic - Greg Auman Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE [Cameron Brate](=) (neck) has been ruled out for Week 8. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Buccaneers play the Ravens on Thursday night. That means rookie TE Cade Otton will get more work with Brate out of action. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [NYJ - RB James Robinson uncertain to play]( Source: NFL.com - Nick Shook New York Jets RB [James Robinson](=) passed his physical and will take part in practice this week, but the team is taking it day by day before making a decision on if he will play in Week 8, head coach Robert Saleh said on Wednesday, Oct. 26. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] When a new player is added, sometimes it takes a week before he gets to the field for his new team. Robinson will be splitting time with Michael Carter when he's up to speed in the Jets' offense. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [DEN - QB Russell Wilson limited]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Denver Broncos QB [Russell Wilson](=) (hamstring) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 26. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Wilson is likely to play in London against the Jagaurs. It's still early, but Wilson wanted to play last week against the Jets but was shut down. We'll know more about his status on Friday. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [CAR - RB Chuba Hubbard not on field]() Source: Panthers.com Carolina Panthers RB [Chuba Hubbard](=) (ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 26. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] D'Onta Foreman could be the lead back for the Panthers in Week 8. Hubbard was the starter last week, and both backs produced, but Hubbard got banged up. We'll see if he can practice later in the week. [TB - QB Tom Brady limited Wednesday]() Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio - Adam Caplan Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB [Tom Brady](=) (non-injury) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 26, but is not on the injury report for Week 8. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Brady is just getting some rest on a short week. Is he washed or just in a rough patch? That's the many questions about this Buccaneers offense that can partially be answered against the Ravens in Week 8. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [TB - WR Mike Evans on track to play]() Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio - Adam Caplan Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR [Mike Evans](=) (ankle) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 26, but is not on the injury report for Week 8. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Evans should be out there on a short week. So long as he doesn't drop any more touchdown passes, Evans should play like his usual WR1 from a fantasy perspective against the Ravens on Thursday night. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [TEN - QB Ryan Tannehill 'progressing']( Source: TitansWire - Mike Moraitis Tennessee Titans QB [Ryan Tannehill](=) (ankle) is 'progressing' in his rehab from an unspecified ankle injury suffered in Week 7. '[Tannehill is] progressing,' head coach Mike Vrabel said on Monday, Oct. 24. 'A lot of guys, day after the game, are in there getting treatment. We'll continue to evaluate all of those guys and see where we are on Wednesday.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Tannehill was seen in a walking boot after Week 7. We'll see how much he can do during the week of practice. Perhaps we'd see rookie QB Malik Willis if Tannehill can't go. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [NYG - No practice for WR Kadarius Toney]() Source: Giants.com New York Giants WR [Kadarius Toney](=) (hamstring) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 26. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Toney hasn't been on the field in over a month. He has played just 35 snaps this year, and Toney does not seem to be in the team's long-term plans. The former first-round pick could be on the trade block if/when healthy. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [LAR - Kyren Williams designated for return]( Source: Rams.com Los Angeles Rams RB Kyren Williams (ankle) was designated for return from injured reserve on Wednesday, Oct. 26, opening his 21-day window to be activated. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We'll see what the rookie can do if/when he's activated. A multi-purpose back in college at Notre Dame, Williams is a jack-of-all-trades type of back. We'll monitor him in deep dynasty formats. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [PHI - TE Tyree Jackson designated to return]() Source: PhiladelphiaEagles.com Philadelphia Eagles TE Tyree Jackson (knee) was designated to return from the reserve/physically unable to perform list on Wednesday, Oct. 26, opening his 21-day window to be activated. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jackson, a converted quarterback, is a player we appreciate but only in crazy deep dynasty formats. He's huge and athletic, making him a great developmental tight end who has some Logan Thomas (another converted college QB) to his game. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 17. [BAL - Questionable tag for WR Rashod Bateman]() Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio - Adam Caplan Baltimore Ravens WR [Rashod Bateman](=) (foot) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 26, but is listed as questionable for Week 8. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fantasy GMs should have other options at the ready. The Ravens passing game isn't exactly one to build your lineup through (other than TE Mark Andrews when healthy). [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 18. [BAL - RB Gus Edwards questionable for Week 8]() Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio - Adam Caplan Baltimore Ravens RB [Gus Edwards](=) (knee) was limited during practice in practice Wednesday, Oct. 26, and is listed as questionable for Week 8. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Everyone get on the 'Gus Bus' as he's likely to be the most fantasy-relevant Ravens back. We like him as a low-end RB2/flex play on Thursday night against the Buccaneers. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 19. [BAL - TE Mark Andrews listed as questionable]() Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio - Adam Caplan Baltimore Ravens TE [Mark Andrews](=) (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 26, and is listed as questionable for Week 8. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The tight end position has been brutal for Fantasy GMs this year. Mark Andrews was one of the lone players at the position who was coming through most weeks. Now, on a short week against the Buccaneers, Fantasy GMs may have to have another option ready. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 20. [DEN - KJ Hamler of interest around the league]( Source: The Score - Jordan Schultz Denver Broncos WR KJ Hamler is attracting more interest from teams around the league recently than teammate [Jerry Jeudy](=) due to the asking price for Jeudy, according to The Score's Jordan Schultz. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hamler is a bit of an unknown in the NFL. A second-round pick (Penn State) in the 2020 NFL draft, Hamler is crazy fast and can blow by defenders with ease. Injuries have held back his pro career, and now a fresh start might be best for him. Hamler could likely be had for a Day 3 pick. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks.
