[] 1. [CAR - Matt Rhule fired](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Carolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule was fired Monday, Nov. 10. Defensive pass game coordinator/secondary coach Steve Wilks was named interim coach. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Rhule was hired by Panthers owner Dave Tepper to be the head coach in 2020, and he compiled a record of 11-27 during that time. He just didn't know how to get the offense on track, and even trading for QB Baker Mayfield couldn't save him...it just bought him a little more time. Rhule was a successful college coach at Temple and Baylor (2013-2019), and he's likely back on a college sideline next year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [SEA - RB Rashaad Penny needs surgery]() Source: The Athletic - Michael-Shawn Dugar Updating an earlier report, Seattle Seahawks RB [Rashaad Penny](=) (leg) requires surgery to repair his broken fibula and will miss the rest of the season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Such bad news for Penny here, especially because he's set to be a free agent in 2023. Penny is productive when healthy, but the 2018 first-round pick has struggled to stay healthy during his pro career. The Seahawks turn to rookie Kenneth Walker as their starting back with Penny done for the season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [WAS - Jahan Dotson unsure about return]( Source: The Washington Post - Nicki Jhabvala Washington Commanders WR [Jahan Dotson](=) (hamstring) told reporters Monday, Oct. 10, that he 'could not really put a timetable on (a return date from his injured left hamstring) right now.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Dotson is one of our favorite rookie receivers this year. He's super fast, explosive, and over the first month of the season, Dotson proved he has a nose for the end zone. Since he's a fast player, the hamstring injury can slow him down more than most and needs to be managed carefully as he returns. While he's out, Dyami Brown is worth a waiver wire claim in deeper leagues. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [NO - Chris Olave put in concussion protocol](=) Source: ESPN.com - Katherine Terrell New Orleans Saints WR [Chris Olave](=) (concussion) was placed in the league's concussion protocol Monday, Oct. 10. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We'll keep an eye on this one for you as Olave works his way through the protocol. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [CAR - QB Baker Mayfield expected to miss multiple games]() Source: The Athletic - Jeff Howe Carolina Panthers QB [Baker Mayfield](=) (ankle) will likely miss at least a couple of games after suffering a high-ankle sprain in Week 5 against the San Francisco 49ers. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Sam Darnold is not close to returning from an ankle injury. This means we could see P.J. Walker start for the Panthers while Mayfield recovers from his own ankle injury. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [CIN - WR Tee Higgins day-to-day](=) Source: ESPN.com - Ben Baby Cincinnati Bengals WR [Tee Higgins](=) (ankle) is considered day-to-day with the sprained ankle that sidelined him for a significant number of snaps in Week 5 against the Baltimore Ravens. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] No surprise here. Higgins was able to play 10 snaps in the game against the Ravens on Sunday night, and he finished with zero targets as he aggravated the injury in the first quarter. With Higgins down, the Bengals turned to Mike Thomas to take his place. We'll know more about his status later in the week. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [CHI - N'Keal Harry ready to roll]() Source: ChicagoBears.com - Larry Mayer Chicago Bears WR N'Keal Harry was activated from the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Oct. 10. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Ready to roll is different than ready to actually produce. The former first-round pick of the Patriots in 2019, Harry was traded to the Bears earlier this year and then promptly got injured. The Bears are not passing the ball with great success, and we don't think having Harry out there cures that. [] 8. [MIN - Ty Chandler out indefinitely]() Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper Minnesota Vikings RB Ty Chandler (thumb) suffered a broken thumb while playing on special teams in Week 5 against the Chicago Bears. Chandler is expected to miss multiple weeks as a result. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Bad news for the talented rookie here. Chandler is fast, can get to top speed in a hurry, and he's tougher after contact than some give him credit for. We'll continue stockpiling him in deep dynasty formats. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [CAR - P.J. Walker expected to start](=) Source: NFL.com Carolina Panthers QB [P.J. Walker](=) is expected to be the starting quarterback for the Panthers in Week 6 since QB [Baker Mayfield](=) (ankle) is dealing with a high-ankle sprain. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Mayfield and Sam Darnold are both dealing with ankle problems. Darnold is nowhere close to returning, and Mayfield may need several weeks to heal. That means Walker is the next man up, and we expect the Panthers to add another quarterback. Perhaps they'll bring up Jacob Eason from the practice squad. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [CAR - RB Christian McCaffrey not on block]() Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero Carolina Panthers RB [Christian McCaffrey](=) has not been the subject of any trade talks with teams this season, according to sources. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] McCaffrey's name was buzzing Monday afternoon with Buffalo mentioned often. But those appear to be just internet chatter at least for now. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [NYG - NY Giants bring back WR Robert Foster](=) Source: SNY - Ralph Vacchiano Free-agent WR Robert Foster (Giants) was signed to the practice squad of the New York Giants on Monday, Oct. 10. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Foster was on his way to making the team over the summer when a hamstring injury forced the Giants' hand. They kept Keelan Doss over Foster, but now he's back on the practice squad. Foster doesn't do much as a receiver, but he's a deep threat when he's on offense. He's mostly a special teams contributor at this point in his career. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [NO - WR Deonte Harty likely out a few months](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport New Orleans Saints WR [Deonte Harty](=) (toe) will receive a second opinion on a turf toe injury, but he's likely out a few months. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Harty isn't doing much for the Saints this year, and he has just two catches (on two targets) for 13 yards in four games. The tiny target is explosive, and a turf toe for that kind of player could be season-ending. Set to be a free agent in 2023, Harty can point teams to his career-best 2021 season where he had 36 catches for 570 yards and three touchdowns. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [TB - Tampa Bay taking its time with WR Julio Jones]() Source: The Athletic - Greg Auman Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR [Julio Jones](=) (knee) is being handled conservatively as he continues to recover from a partially torn posterior cruciate ligament, according to comments made by head coach Todd Bowles on Monday, Oct. 10.'We want him fully healthy, not coming out for a week, then missing another couple of weeks. We think we have enough guys right now to weather that storm,' Bowles said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That's a smart plan for the veteran receiver. The Buccaneers have plans on making a deep playoff run. To help them do that, a healthy Jones would go a long way. He's only played in two games this season, and Jones has just four catches for 76 yards. We'll see if their plan for Jones works out later in the year when they could be asking him to do more. Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Russell Gage will continue to eat up the targets at the wide receiver position. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [BAL - WR Andy Isabella joins Baltimore's practice squad]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Updating a previous report, free-agent WR [Andy Isabella](=) (Cardinals) was signed to the practice squad of the Baltimore Ravens on Monday, Oct. 10. Baltimore also waived WR Bailey Gaither. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Isabella is a player we only monitor in crazy deep dynasty formats now, but it wasn't always like that. A former second-round pick out of UMASS in 2019, Isabella was supposed to be a speedy weapon for the Cardinals. Instead, he failed to play up to his potential and now gets a fresh start with a new team. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family.
