News and Notes from around the league  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ [Footballguys Email Updates](=) [Go PRO]( | [View Online](=) [Unsubscribe]( | [Sign Up]() [Footballguys.com](=)Daily Email Update • Vol. 24, #182 • Oct. 8th[,](=) 2022 --------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks To Our Sponsor, [Footballguys Premium Subscriptions]() Howdy {NAME}, Welcome to Game Day. [DEN - QB Russell Wilson dealing with lat injury](#20) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [ARI - RonDale Moore a game-time decision]( Source: NFL.com Arizona Cardinals WR RonDale Moore (knee) will be a game-time decision for Week 5's game against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to head coach Kliff Kingsbury. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Moore has incredible talent, and he's one of the most explosive players in the league when healthy. The problem is, he's rarely healthy and has battled injuries since his playing days in college at Purdue. We still love him in dynasty formats, but redraft Fantasy GMs have moved on (if he was even drafted). [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [NE - Bailey Zappe to start Week 5](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport New England Patriots QB [Bailey Zappe](=) will start Week 5's game against the Detroit Lions. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Mac Jones and Brian Hoyer are both injured, so the Patriots turn to the rookie Zappe. He's lacking in experience, but he threw for like a million yards last year at Western Kentucky. Okay, it wasn't a million, but Zappe did fill the air with footballs in 2021, passing for 5,967 yards and a whopping 62 touchdowns. His processor is fast enough, so the game does not seem to big for him. We're intrigued but not counting on him for much in his first start. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [DAL - RB Tony Pollard traveling with team]( Source: Dallas Morning News - Michael Gehlken Dallas Cowboys RB [Tony Pollard](=) (illness) is traveling with the team to Los Angeles after popping up on the injury report on Friday with an illness and getting a questionable designation for Sunday. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Rams are tough against the run, so Pollard has flex appeal in Week 5. He should continue to split time with RB Ezekiel Elliott as the team plays another game without QB Dak Prescott. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [KC - PK Harrison Butker Out](=) Source: Fox4KC.com - Mike Coutee The Kansas City Chiefs announced that kicker Harrison Butker will be out for the fourth straight week. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Looks like Matthew Wright will kick this week for KC. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [WAS - Brian Robinson expected to play 20 snaps]() Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Washington Commanders RB Brian Robinson Jr. (leg) is expected to be the backup to RB [Antonio Gibson](=) and play about 20 snaps in his NFL debut in Week 5, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Robinson is back in action after being shot earlier this year. He will work behind Gibson, and J.D. McKissic is set to get some receiving work out of the backfield. Robinson is more of a wait-and-see type of player in Week 5, but the upside is there for him to soon be a weekly starter as an RB2 for Fantasy GMs out there. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [JAX - RB James Robinson poised for big game?]() Source: ESPN.com Jacksonville Jaguars RB [James Robinson](=) faces the Houston Texans in Week 5, and the Texans have allowed the second-most rushing yards per game in the NFL and the third-highest yards per carry average. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Robinson rushed eight times for 29 yards in the Jaguars' week 4 loss to the Eagles. He should be in for a bounce-back game this weekend, and we see Robinson as a low-end RB1 against the Texans in Week 5. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [LAR - Rams make several moves]( Source: Rams.com Los Angeles Rams RB Malcolm Brown was promoted from the practice squad to the 53-man roster on Saturday, Oct. 8. Also, S Jordan Fuller (hamstring) and OG Coleman Shelton (ankle) were placed on injured reserve, and WR Jacob Harris and C Matt Skura were elevated from the practice squad for Week 5. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Rams needed some help at the running back position, so that's why they elevated Brown from the practice squad for Week 5. They did the same thing last week before the Monday night game against the 49ers, and Brown barely got onto the field as the Rams' no.3 back. He played seven snaps overall against the 49ers, with five of those coming on special teams. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [TEN - Treylon Burks lands on IR]( Source: TennesseeTitans.com - Jim Wyatt Tennessee Titans WR [Treylon Burks](=) (toe) was placed on injured reserve on Saturday, Oct. 8, due to turf toe. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Burks had flashed a bit so far as a rookie. The 2022 first-round pick was the team's answer to trading away WR A.J. Brown, but he's had some injury concerns along the way. Now, Burks has a turf toe that will cost him at least the next four weeks. Kyle Phillips will get more work in the Titans' passing attack while Burks is out. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [KC - WR Mecole Hardman good to go]( Source: Chiefs.com Kansas City Chiefs WR [Mecole Hardman](=) (heel) practiced in full on Saturday, Oct. 8, and was removed from the injury report. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Against the Raiders on Monday night, Hardman is a 'what the heck' flex for Fantasy GMs. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [ATL - Drake London a popular target]() Source: ESPN.com Atlanta Falcons WR [Drake London](=) has earned just over 34 percent of the targets in the passing game this season, recording 32 of the 52 targets to wide receivers. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] London caught 2-of-7 targets for 17 yards in the Falcons' Week 4 win over the Browns. The Falcons aren't filling the air with footballs, so that makes London a touchdown-dependent WR2 as a fantasy starter. [NO - QB Andy Dalton in line to start]( Source: The Associated Press New Orleans Saints QB [Andy Dalton](=) is expected to start against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 5, head coach Dennis Allen said Friday, Oct. 7. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] No surprise here, as Dalton gets another starting nod with Jameis Winston banged up. Dalton completed 20-of-28 passes for 236 yards and a touchdown in the Saints' 28-25, Week 4 loss to the Vikings. He should be able to post better numbers this week against an inexperienced Seahawks defense. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [NE - WR Jakobi Meyers expected to play]() Source: Boston Herald - Andrew Callahan New England Patriots WR [Jakobi Meyers](=) (knee) is expected to play in Week 5 despite a questionable tag, per source on Saturday, Oct. 8. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Meyers got in limited work this week, just like last week when he was declared out. This time around, it seems like Meyers might be out there for the Patriots. They have rookie QB Bailey Zappe under center against the Lions, so Meyers is a 'what the heck' flex in PPR formats if he plays in Week 5. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [LVR - Expanding role for RB Josh Jacobs?]() Source: ESPN.com Las Vegas Raiders RB [Josh Jacobs](=) has a combined 10 catches on 11 targets in the last two games after seeing just two targets in the first two games of the season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Raiders are starting to figure a few things out as the season goes on. The main thing is Jacobs is getting more work. Against the Chiefs on Monday night, Jacobs should get plenty of work and could finish as a top-10 fantasy starter at running back in Week 5. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [TB - WR Russell Gage back on injury report]() Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR [Russell Gage](=) Jr. (hamstring, back), who was removed from the injury report Friday, Oct. 7, returned to the injury report with a questionable designation Saturday, Oct. 8, for Week 5's game versus the Atlanta Falcons. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] He's questionable for the game in Week 5 against his former team, but it's not like Fantasy GMs were rushing to get Gage in the lineup. Gage has been dealing with a hamstring injury, but now he's got a new back problem. If Gage can't go, the Buccaneers would turn to WR Breshad Perriman to do more. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [CAR - WR Terrace Marshall to play in Week 5]( Source: Charlotte Observer - Mike Kaye Carolina Panthers WR Terrace Marshall Jr. will be active for Week 5's game against the San Francisco 49ers, after being a healthy scratch for the previous two games, according to head coach Matt Rhule. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Marshall was active in Week 2 but only played six snaps as the team chose to go with WR Laviska Shenault instead. With Shenault banged up (again), the Panthers turn back to the former second-round pick (2021). Marshall has talent, but the young receiver has yet to put it all together and do much in the pros. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [KC - WR JuJu Smith-Schuster expected to play](=) Source: ESPN.com - Adam Teicher Updating a previous report, Kansas City Chiefs WR [JuJu Smith-Schuster](=) (hamstring, quadriceps) is still expected to play in Week 5 despite experiencing tightness in his hamstring and being limited during practice on Saturday, Oct. 8, head coach Andy Reid said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The hamstring injury slowed down Smith-Schuster on Saturday. However, he seems good to go for Monday's game against the Raiders. Fantasy GMs should consider Smith-Schuster a WR4/flex play in Week 5. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 17. [BUF - RB Devin Singletary seeing more targets]( Source: ESPN.com Buffalo Bills RB [Devin Singletary](=) has recorded 13 receptions on 16 targets for 125 yards and a touchdown in the last two games. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Bills don't run the ball much, so Singletary has to get more work as a receiver out of the backfield. With rookie RB James Cook there as an explosive target in space, we'll see if Singletary continues to get this much usage in the pass-catching department. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 18. [GB - QB Aaron Rodgers wants to air it out more]() Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky Green Bay Packers QB [Aaron Rodgers](=) says he wants to start 'airing it out a little bit more' moving forward. 'Hell yeah, of course,' Rodgers said on Friday, Oct. 7, when asked if he wants to air it out more. '[Head coach Matt LaFleur is] kind of in a grumpy mood right now. When he gets a little bit of rest and will be in a better mood, we'll talk about airing it out a little bit more.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Of course, Rodgers wants to go through the air more! That's good news for Fantasy GMs, and it should also be good news for the receivers on the team like Allen Lazard, Christian Watson, and Romeo Doubs. After four weeks, Rodgers ranks no.16 in the league with just 935 yards. We should see the Packers air it out more going forward as his receivers get more up to speed in the system. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 19. [KC - WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling ready to play]( Source: Chiefs.com Kansas City Chiefs WR [Marquez Valdes-Scantling](=) (abdomen) practiced in full on Saturday, Oct. 8, and carries no designation for Week 5. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Valdes-Scantling is a deep flex play/WR5 for Fantasy GMs this week against the Raiders. Since they play on Monday night, a lot of Fantasy GMs are going to go in a different direction in Week 5. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 20. [DEN - QB Russell Wilson dealing with lat injury]() Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero Denver Broncos QB [Russell Wilson](=) (lat) has been playing through discomfort in his throwing shoulder and flew to Los Angeles on Friday, Oct. 7, to receive an injection in hopes of relieving that discomfort. Wilson has been dealing with a strained latissimus dorsi and intends to be ready for the Week 6 game against the Los Angeles Chargers, according to a source Saturday, Oct. 8. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] And the hits keep on coming for Wilson.
