News and Notes from around the league  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ [Footballguys Email Updates](=) [Go PRO]( | [View Online](=) [Unsubscribe]( | [Sign Up]() [Footballguys.com](=)Daily Email Update • Vol. 24, #181 • Oct. 7th[,](=) 2022 --------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks To Our Sponsor, [Footballguys Premium Subscriptions]() Howdy {NAME}, Welcome to the Weekend. [MIA - 'Hope' that WR Tyreek Hill can play vs. NYJ?](#20) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [ATL - TE Kyle Pitts ruled out for Week 5]( Source: ESPN.com - Michael Rothstein Atlanta Falcons TE [Kyle Pitts](=) (hamstring) was ruled out Friday, Oct. 7, ahead of the Week 5 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Zero surprise here. He's yet to practice this week, and the Falcons will give Pitts a week off. They need to figure out how to better utilize him when Pitts is healthy. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [WAS - Jahan Dotson ruled out in Week 5]( Source: The Athletic - Ben Standig Washington Commanders WR [Jahan Dotson](=) (hamstring) was ruled out Friday, Oct. 7, ahead of the Week 5 matchup against the Tennessee Titans. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Dotson began his pro career with four touchdowns in four games. He's super fast and an electric player with the ball in his hands. Without him, Dyami Brown should work as the Commanders' no.3 wide receiver. With no Dotson, the Commanders could feature WRs Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel more in the game plan. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [BUF - TE Dawson Knox out for Week 5](=) Source: ESPN.com - Alaina Getzenberg Buffalo Bills TE [Dawson Knox](=) (hamstring, foot) has been ruled out for Week 5. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Knox's disappointing 2022 season continues. He hasn't practiced in some time, and he'll miss the Week 5 home game against the Steelers. Fantasy GMs desperate at the tight end position are likely going to let Knox hit the waiver wire. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [TB - TE Cameron Brate ruled out in Week 5]( Source: Buccaneers.com - Scott Smith Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE [Cameron Brate](=) (concussion) was ruled out Friday, Oct. 7, ahead of the Week 5 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Rookie Cade Otton is worth looking t if you're desperate at the tight end position. Let's face it, the tight end position has been brutal this year, so perhaps a guy like Otton would give you some production. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [IND - Optimism that RB Jonathan Taylor can play Week 6]( Source: The Athletic - Zak Keefer Indianapolis Colts RB [Jonathan Taylor](=) (ankle) is expected to return to action in Week 6 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to comments made by head coach Frank Reich after the team's Week game Thursday, Oct. 6. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Colts beat the Broncos on Thursday night in one of the ugliest games in NFL history. Their offense is inept, even with a healthy Taylor, but getting him back will be a boost for them. We'll see if they can figure out how to score more than 14 points per game going forward. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [NYG - QB Daniel Jones good to go](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport New York Giants QB [Daniel Jones](=) (ankle) has no injury designation and will play in Week 5. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jones is going to be out there against the Packers, but his mobility is likely to be limited due to this ankle injury. With Tyrod Taylor (concussion) out, the Giants would have to turn to Davis Webb if Jones gets banged up in the game. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [CHI - Chicago's Week 5 injury report]( Source: ChicagoBears.com Chicago Bears DB Dane Cruikshank (hamstring) and CB Jaylon Johnson (quad) were upgraded to a limited practice Friday, Oct. 7, but are listed as doubtful for Week 5 against the Minnesota Vikings. RB [David Montgomery](=) (ankle) was limited in practice for a second straight day on Friday and is listed as questionable. LB Matthew Adams (hamstring), TE [Ryan Griffin](=) (Achilles), DB Jaylon Jones (illness), DT Justin Jones (hip) and LB Sterling Weatherford (illness) practiced in full Friday and have been removed from the injury report. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Bears head coach Matt Eberflus told reporters that everything is "real positive" with Montgomery. They'll likely use Montgomery on a limited basis with Khalil Herbert still getting plenty of work. If Montgomery plays against the Vikings on Sunday, both he and Herbert would have flex appeal for Fantasy GMs. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [CAR - Carolina's Week 5 injury report]() Source: Panthers.com Carolina Panthers WR [Laviska Shenault](=) Jr. (hamstring), CB Stantley Thomas-Oliver (thigh) and TE [Stephen Sullivan](=) (back) did not practice Friday, Oct. 7, and have been ruled out for Week 5 against the San Francisco 49ers. S Xavier Woods (hamstring) did not practice all week but is listed as questionable. LB Frankie Luvu (shoulder) was limited in practice Friday while DE Marquis Haynes (knee) practiced in full; both players are also listed as questionable. LB Shaq Thompson (knee) practiced in full for a second consecutive day on Friday and has been removed from the injury report. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's so nice seeing a Panthers injury report that does not include RB Christian McCaffrey. Start him as you normally would so long as he's healthy. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [BUF - Week 5 injury report for Buffalo]( Source: BuffaloBills.com Buffalo Bills CB Christian Benford (hand), WR [Jamison Crowder](=) (ankle), TE [Dawson Knox](=) (foot, hamstring), WR [Jake Kumerow](=) (ankle) and S Jordan Poyer (ribs) did not practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 5 versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. LB Tremaine Edmunds (hamstring) also did not practice all week but is listed as questionable. WR [Isaiah McKenzie](=) (concussion), DT Ed Oliver (ankle) and DT Jordan Phillips (hamstring) were limited in practice Friday, Oct. 7, and are also listed as questionable. WR Von Miller (rest) and WR [Stefon Diggs](=) (rest) also did not practice Friday, while DE DaQuan Jones (rest) and OG Rodger Saffold (rest) were not given a practice designation; all four are expected to play. WR [Gabe Davis](=) (ankle), CB Cam Lewis (forearm, knee), C Mitch Morse (elbow) and OT Justin Murray (foot) practiced in full Friday and no longer appear on the injury report. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] McKenzie seems to be working through the concussion protocol with success. With Crowder (ankle) down but not yet ruled out for the rest of the season, McKenzie will be the primary slot weapon for the high-powered Bills' offense. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [CLE - Cleveland's Week 5 injury report]( Source: ClevelandBrowns.com Cleveland Browns DT Taven Bryan (hamstring) and DE Jadeveon Clowney (ankle) were limited in practice Friday, Oct. 7, and are listed as questionable for Week 5 against the Los Angeles Chargers. DT Jordan Elliott (knee), DE Myles Garrett (shoulder, biceps), LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (groin) and CB Denzel Ward (back, ribs) were limited in practice all week but have been removed from the injury report. OG Joel Bitonio (biceps, rest), TE [Harrison Bryant](=) (illness), WR [Amari Cooper](=) (rest), OT Joe Haeg (concussion), TE [David Njoku](=) (knee, rest), DE Isaiah Thomas (hand) and OT Jack Conklin (rest) practiced in full Friday and also no longer appear on the injury report. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Njoku was getting some rest this week, but he's good to go in Week 5. Against the Chargers on Sunday, Njoku is a low-end starter for most Fantasy GMs out there. [JAX - WR Zay Jones to return in Week 5]() Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio - Adam Caplan Jacksonville Jaguars WR [Zay Jones](=) (ankle) will play in Week 5 against the Houston Texans after missing the team's previous game due to an ankle injury, according to head coach Doug Pederson. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Good news for the Jaguars here. Jones was a leading receiver for the Jaguars before this injury. He's been working well with Christian Kirk, and both veterans give QB Trevor Lawrence trusted targets to throw to. From a fantasy perspective, Jones has flex appeal on a weekly basis when healthy. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [TEN - Week 5 injury report for Tennessee]( Source: TennesseeTitans.com Tennessee Titans LB Olasunkanmi Adeniyi (neck), WR [Treylon Burks](=) (toe), LB Zach Cunningham (elbow), LB Bud Dupree (hip) and LB Joseph Jones (knee) did not practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 5 against the Washington Commanders. S Amani Hooker (concussion) did not practice for a second consecutive day on Friday, Oct. 7, and has also been ruled out. CB Caleb Farley (knee) and DB Lonnie Johnson (illness) also did not practice Friday but are listed as questionable. OG Nate Davis (knee, foot) was upgraded to a limited practice Friday and is also listed as questionable. FB Tory Carter (neck) Ben Jones (back) were limited in practice Friday but no longer appear on the injury report. DB Ugo Amadi (ankle) practiced in full all week and also has been removed from the injury report. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Burks, a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft, was flashing a bit for the Titans before this injury. The talented rookie has a turf toe injury that is expected to sideline him for a few weeks. No surgery is required, so perhaps Burks could return to the practice field after the Titans' Week 6 bye. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [WAS - TE Logan Thomas questionable in Week 5]( Source: The Athletic - Ben Standig Washington Commanders TE [Logan Thomas](=) (calf) is listed as questionable on the final injury report for the Week 5 matchup against the Tennessee Titans. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's always something with Thomas. He's productive when healthy, but man alive Thomas is banged up quite a bit. Thomas was added to the injury report Friday, Oct. 7. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [CIN - Week 5 injury report for Cincinnati](=) Source: Bengals.com Cincinnati Bengals TE [Hayden Hurst](=) (groin) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 7, but is listed as questionable for Week 5 against the Baltimore Ravens. TE [Devin Asiasi](=) (ankle) and WR [Tee Higgins](=) (ankle) were limited in practice all week and are also listed as questionable. OT La'el Collins (rest) was limited in practice for a second straight day Friday, Oct. 7, but has been removed from the injury report. PK Evan McPherson (groin) and LB Germaine Pratt (knee) practiced in full Friday and also no longer appear on the injury report. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This is a big game for the Bengals with a divisional game against the Ravens on Sunday night. It could be a revenge game for Hurst, and tight end is brutal enough you might consider playing him in deeper leagues. Higgins could finish this week as a top-10 fantasy receiver in this matchup. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [TB - Tampa Bay's injury report for Week 5](=) Source: Buccaneers.com Tampa Bay Buccaneers DE Akiem Hicks (foot) and DB Logan Ryan (foot) did not practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 5 versus the Atlanta Falcons. TE [Cameron Brate](=) (concussion) was upgraded to a limited practice Friday, Oct. 7, but has also been ruled out. WR [Julio Jones](=) (knee) and WR [Breshad Perriman](=) (knee, hamstring) were limited in practice all week and are listed as questionable. LB Lavonte David (rest), WR [Mike Evans](=) (rest) and RB [Leonard Fournette](=) (personal) did not practice Friday but are expected to play. WR [Russell Gage](=) Jr. (hamstring), WR [Chris Godwin](=) (knee) and OT Donovan Smith (elbow) were limited in practice all week but no longer appear on the injury report. QB [Tom Brady](=) (shoulder, finger), CB Carlton Davis (shoulder) and DT Rakeem Nunez-Roches (illness) practiced in full Friday and have also been removed from the injury report. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fournette missed practice on Friday for personal reasons, but he should be out there in Week 5 against the Falcons. The Buccaneers will use him as a battering ram again, giving him RB2 with upside potential for Fantasy GMs. We'll see if rookie Rachaad White continues to get worked more into the mix as well. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [LAC - WR Keenan Allen to miss another game]() Source: NFLCommunications.com Los Angeles Chargers WR [Keenan Allen](=) (hamstring) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 7, and has been ruled out for Week 5. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Not a shock but continued bad news for Keenan Allen. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 17. [DET - WR Amon-Ra St. Brown to practice Friday]( Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates Detroit Lions WR [Amon-Ra St. Brown](=) (ankle) will practice for the first time this week Friday, Oct. 7, and his status for the Week 5 game against the New England Patriots is still to be determined. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] St. Brown is trying to get back after missing last week's game. He would be back to being the top target against the Patriots if St. Brown can give it a go. The Lions do have a bye in Week 6, so they might decide another week of rest is best for St. Brown. Stay tuned. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 18. [DAL - WR CeeDee Lamb returns to practice Friday]( Source: The Athletic - Jon Machota Dallas Cowboys WR [CeeDee Lamb](=) (groin) will practice Friday, Oct. 7, after missing Thursday's practice. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Lamb didn't practice on Thursday, but he told reporters he was fine and the team was being precautionary. He's back at practice on Friday, and Lamb is a lock for all Fantasy GMs who have him out there. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 19. [IND - RB Nyheim Hines doing okay after concussion]( Source: 1070 The Fan - Kevin Bowen Indianapolis Colts RB [Nyheim Hines](=) (concussion) is doing okay after exiting the game Thursday, Oct. 6, in the first quarter. Head coach Frank Reich said Friday that Hines 'seemed totally normal' during halftime of the game and wanted to go back in, but the team didn't allow it. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hines was wobbly when he tried to get up after taking a big hit against the Broncos. It's a good sign that he's doing okay, but the Colts will still be cautious as Hines works through the concussion protocol. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 20. [MIA - 'Hope' that WR Tyreek Hill can play vs. NYJ?]() Source: NFL Network - Cameron Wolfe Miami Dolphins WR [Tyreek Hill](=) (quad) will likely be questionable to play in Week 5 against the New York Jets. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Let's see what Hill looks like in pregame warmups. Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters Friday, Oct. 7, that he is 'very hopeful' Hill will suit up and the team will manage the injury. If Hill, likely a game-time decision, misses the game we will see the targets go up for WR Jaylen Waddle. We could also see more snaps/targets for WR Trent Sherfield if Hill is unable to go.
