[DAL - QB Dak Prescott not ready right now](=) Source: The Dallas Morning News - Jori Epstein Dallas Cowboys QB [Dak Prescott](=) (thumb) can't grip a football well enough to play today, according to owner Jerry Jones. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jerry Jones did leave the door open for Sunday though. We'll know more this week. The Cowboys are undefeated with backup QB Cooper Rush, and they're not feeling a need to rush Prescott back before he's ready. Not being able to grip a football shows that Prescott needs more time, perhaps not much more time before he's ready to get back out there. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [PIT - Kenny Pickett's regime begins]( Source: Pittsburgh Tribune-Review - Joe Rutter Pittsburgh Steelers QB [Kenny Pickett](=) was named starting quarterback Tuesday, Oct. 4. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Mitchell Trubisky era didn't last too long in Pittsburgh. Getting Pickett out there is for the best. You saw him make a bunch of rookie mistakes in Week 4, but Pickett needs the experience. You also saw him inject some life into this offense. Pickett starting is good news for WR George Pickens, a fellow rookie who seems to have a strong connection with the young quarterback. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [IND - Door open for RB Jonathan Taylor](=) Source: CNHI Sports Indiana - George Bremer Updating previous reports, Indianapolis Colts RB [Jonathan Taylor](=) (ankle) could still play Thursday, Oct. 6, as head coach Frank Reich said the team has a plan in place if he can play. However, Taylor is not ready Tuesday, Oct. 4. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The team 'hopes' he can play on Thursday night against the Broncos. If Taylor does play, perhaps the plan for him is to have a reduced workload. It's too early to tell if Taylor is actually going to play, so Fantasy GMs need to have other options ready. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [DEN - Denver signing RB Latavius Murray]() Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero New Orleans Saints practice squad RB [Latavius Murray](=) will be signed to the Denver Broncos 53-man roster, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's a good signing for the Broncos who clearly want another option besides Melvin Gordon or Mike Boone. Murray is a good all-purpose back with size and starting experience. Plus, unlike Gordon, he rarely fumbles the ball and he's better in pass protection than Boone. The Broncos play on Thursday night against the Colts in Week 5, and that is the time where Gordon should get most of the work. After that, Murray could easily work his way into a larger role. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [LAC - WR Keenan Allen considered day-to-day](=) Source: NFL.com - Bridget Condon Los Angeles Chargers WR [Keenan Allen](=) (hamstring) remains day-to-day heading into Week 5 against the Cleveland Browns. 'We're just going to make sure we are careful,' head coach Brandon Staley said Monday, Oct. 3. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Allen was ruled out last Friday before the Chargers' Week 4 game against the Texans. He seemed to have aggravated his injury in practice. We'll see what he can do this week as the team prepares to face the Browns. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [MIA - QB Teddy Bridgewater to start in Week 5]( Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson Miami Dolphins QB [Teddy Bridgewater](=) will start in Week 5 on the road against the New York Jets in place of the injured QB [Tua Tagovailoa](=) (concussion). [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] No surprise here. Bridgewater is a seasoned veteran who can be the caretaker of the offense while Tagovailoa is on the mend. Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said it is too early to give a timeline on when Tagovailoa will be ready. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [NO - QB Andy Dalton could start again in Week 5]( Source: The Times-Picayune - Terrin Waack New Orleans Saints QB [Andy Dalton](=) could start again in Week 5 against the Seattle Seahawks, but head coach Dennis Allen said Monday, Oct. 3, that it depends on the status of QB [Jameis Winston](=) (back, ankle), and he had no information on Winston's status. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This could be the plan for Allen as he doesn't want to rush Winston back. Dalton completed 20-of-28 passes for 236 yards and a touchdown in the Saints' 28-25, Week 4 loss to the Vikings. If Dalton wants to get the team on the winning track, he needs to take care of the football better and try to attack downfield a little bit more than he did last time out. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [CLE - Jerome Ford to IR]() Source: ESPN - Jake Trotter Cleveland Browns RB Jerome Ford (ankle) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Oct. 4. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Ford is a rookie we appreciate in dynasty formats, but he is buried on the depth chart for the 2022 season. He was no.4 in the running back room behind Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt, and D'Ernest Johnson. The Browns will now look for a different kick returner as that was Ford's primary job over the first month of the season. [IND - RB Jonathan Taylor idle Tuesday](=) Source: FOX 59 Indianapolis - Mike Chappell Indianapolis Colts RB [Jonathan Taylor](=) (ankle) did not participate in the team's walkthrough and was spotted wearing a boot Tuesday, Oct. 4. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] No surprise here. The Colts are on a short week as they travel to play the Broncos on Thursday night. Taylor is a game-time decision, and we doubt he gets any work in at practice this week. The Colts are 'hopeful' he can play, but Fantasy GMs need to have other options ready. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [DAL - WR Noah Brown expected to practice]( Source: The Dallas Morning News - Calvin Watkins Dallas Cowboys WR [Noah Brown](=) (neck) suffered a neck injury in Week 4 against the Washington Commanders. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Even with the return of WR Michael Gallup, Brown isn't going anywhere for the Cowboys offense if healthy. There's enough talent and opportunity there for Brown to be at least a 'what the heck' flex for Fantasy GMs. Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said Monday, Oct. 3, that Brown should practice this week after he received a 'good report' on the health status of Brown. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [NO - WR Marquez Callaway could start again]( Source: The Times-Picayune - Terrin Waack New Orleans Saints WR [Marquez Callaway](=) made the start in Week 4 against the Minnesota Vikings in London with WR [Michael Thomas](=) (toe) sidelined. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Callaway could draw into the starting lineup again in Week 5 against the Seattle Seahawks if Thomas is unable to play. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [CAR - Laviska Shenault awaiting MRI results]( Source: SI.com - Schuyler Callihan Carolina Panthers WR [Laviska Shenault](=) Jr. (hamstring) suffered a hamstring injury in the Week 4 game against the Arizona Cardinals, and he was scheduled for an MRI Monday, Oct. 3. The team is awaiting results. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Shenault is a talented player who always seems to be battling some injury dating back to his college days at the University of Colorado. Head coach Matt Rhule confirmed the injury is new, and not the same hamstring that landed him on the injury report last week. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [JAX - WR Zay Jones might be ready in Week 5](=) Source: ESPN.com - Michael DiRocco Jacksonville Jaguars WR [Zay Jones](=) (ankle) might be ready to return in Week 5 against the Houston Texans, head coach Doug Pederson indicated Monday, Oct. 3. 'I think he'll be ready to go,' Peterson said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Let's see what Jones can do during the week of practice. He's likely to be limited, and Friday will be the biggest day to determine whether or not he can get out there in a Week 5 divisional matchup. Against the Eagles in Week 4, Jones was shut down during warmups even though the team felt he could play leading up to that game. It seems like he's close, but the Jaguars want to be sure before getting him out there again. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [NE - Garrett Gilbert set to join New England]() Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero Free-agent QB Garrett Gilbert (Raiders) is expected to be signed to the practice squad of the New England Patriots on Tuesday, Oct. 4. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Gilbert is there since the Patriots have a couple of banged up quarterbacks in Mac Jones and Brian Hoyer. We could see rookie Bailey Zappe starting for the Patriots in Week 5. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [NO - RB Mark Ingram could be lead back in Week 5]( Source: The Times-Picayune - Luke Johnson New Orleans Saints RB [Mark Ingram](=) could be the team's lead back in Week 5 against the Seattle Seahawks if RB [Alvin Kamara](=) (rib) is unavailable. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We'll see what Kamara's status is during the week of practice. The Saints could lean on Ingram if he's healthy as he did get banged up a little last week. Ingram rushed 10 times for 30 yards in the Saints' Week 4 loss to the Vikings, also snaring three catches for 13 yards. With Ingram out for part of the second half, the Saints turned to Latavius Murray who ended the game with 57 yards and a touchdown. They can't do that this week as Murray was signed off their practice squad by the Broncos on Monday. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [DEN - QB Russell Wilson limited in practice again]() Source: ESPN.com - Jeff Legwold Denver Broncos QB [Russell Wilson](=) (shoulder) was listed as limited for the team's walkthrough practice Tuesday, Oct. 4. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Wilson has great confidence that he will be out there on Thursday night. His shoulder injury is considered minor, and he played through it against the Raiders in Week 4 for part of the game.
