Pull together and stay safe.  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ [Footballguys Email Updates](=) [Go PRO]( | [View Online](=) [Unsubscribe]( | [Sign Up]() [Footballguys.com](=)Daily Email Update • Vol. 24, #172 • Sep. 28th[,](=) 2022 --------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks To Our Sponsor, [Footballguys Premium Subscriptions]() Howdy {NAME}, First things first. [CAR - RB Christian McCaffrey on injury report]( Source: Panthers.com Carolina Panthers RB [Christian McCaffrey](=) (thigh) did not practice on Wednesday, Sept. 28. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] McCaffrey usually doesn't practice on Wednesday. That's mostly because of rest days, but now there's an injury designation to go with it. Panthers' head coach Matt Rhule did not give any further clarity about McCaffrey's availability for Week 4. Also, remember McCaffrey missed time in 2020 with a quad issue. This is something to monitor closely as the week goes on. We need to see him work Thursday and Friday before we feel comfortable recommending him as his usual RB1 starting status for Fantasy GMs. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [MIA - Questionable tag for QB Tua Tagovailoa]() Source: Pro Football Network - Adam H. Beasley Miami Dolphins QB [Tua Tagovailoa](=) (ankle, back) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 28, and is listed as questionable for Week 4. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Dolphins held a walkthrough Wednesday, so the practice participation is an estimation. The reports around the Dolphins speculate that Tagovailoa should be out there on Thursday night. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [DET - D'Andre Swift unlikely to play in Week 4]( Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Myles Simmons Detroit Lions RB D'Andre Swift (shoulder) is not practicing on Wednesday, Sept. 28, and would have to feel significantly better to play in Week 4, head coach Dan Campbell said on Wednesday, Sept. 28. 'It would have to be, the skies open up and the bright light comes out and, 'I'm good to go and it feels unbelievable and here we go,'' Campbell said. 'We're prepared for this. We knew it would be hard to get through a full season with him being healthy -- that's just the nature of the position. Swift, he's different. And I mean that in a good way. And that's just the way it goes.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We've all expected this. In fact, Swift may miss a few weeks as he deals with this shoulder injury. The Lions have a bye in Week 6, and Swift could be ready to go when they return to the field in Week 7 against the Cowboys. In the meantime, Jamaal Williams gets the lead back role on offense which makes him a player to consider as an RB2 with upside from a fantasy perspective. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [DAL - QB Dak Prescott idle](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Dallas Cowboys QB [Dak Prescott](=) (thumb) is out of practice Wednesday, Sept. 28, and a Week 4 return seems unlikely. However, he has an outside chance to return in Week 5 against the Los Angeles Rams. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fantasy GMs weren't expecting him back until around Week 5 anyway. It's an update, but one that comes with no surprises. The Cowboys have rallied around QB Cooper Rush, and it looks like he's got one more start coming up on Sunday against the Commanders. Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said he does "not have a timeline" for when Prescott will start throwing. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [NYJ - QB Zach Wilson cleared](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport New York Jets QB Zach Wilson (knee) has been medically cleared and will start in Week 4 if there are no setbacks, according to head coach Robert Saleh. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Jets need to see what Wilson has as their starter. That means Joe Flacco goes back to the bench after filling the air with footballs over the first three weeks of the regular season. Fantasy GMs need to adjust the projections and expectations for all Jets skill position players with Wilson under center. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [NE - QB Mac Jones making progress](=) Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Myles Simmons New England Patriots QB [Mac Jones](=) (ankle) is 'definitely getting better,' head coach Bill Belichick said on Wednesday, Sept. 28. 'Saw Mac a little while ago,' Belichick said. 'Definitely getting better. Probably won't practice today, but made a lot of progress here in the last 48 hours. So, keep plugging away and take that day-by-day and see how it goes.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Good news for the young passer here, but he's still going to miss some time with what is being called a 'severe' high-ankle injury. Brian Hoyer will start while Jones is out of action. Rookie Bailey Zappe will be the backup to Hoyer. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [NO - QB Jameis Winston in line for Week 4](=) Source: NewOrleans.Football - Nick Underhill Updating an earlier report, New Orleans Saints QB [Jameis Winston](=) (undisclosed) is expected to practice Thursday, Sept. 29, and there's no concern about his status for Week 4, according to head coach Dennis Allen. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Winston did not practice on Wednesday, and it was Andy Dalton out there running the first-team offense instead. Allen has been clear about Winston's status, so Fantasy GMs can continue to expect Winston out there as the starter...for now. Let's keep an eye on this situation as the Saints prepare for their Week 4 game against the Vikings in London. The Saints' offense would look different with Dalton under center as he's unlikely to go downfield as much as Winston. Stay tuned. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [CHI - RB David Montgomery does not practice]( Source: ChicagoBears.com Chicago Bears RB [David Montgomery](=) (ankle, knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 28. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We could see quite a bit of Khalil Herbert in Week 4. Not much is working for the Bears offense, but their rushing attack is and Herbert should've been the hottest waiver wire addition this week. Against the Giants on Sunday, Herbert has RB1 upside for Fantasy GMs. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [MIA - WR Jaylen Waddle listed as questionable]() Source: Pro Football Network - Adam H. Beasley Miami Dolphins WR [Jaylen Waddle](=) (groin) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 28, and is listed as questionable for Week 4. The Dolphins held a walkthrough Wednesday, so the practice participation is an estimation. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] If Waddle is your guy, watch this closely Thursday and see how pregame goes. Many are calling this a "minor" tweak with his groin and they don't seem overly concerned. But this is a new staff in Miami with Mike McDaniel so we don't have a lot of track record to work with. Right now, we're cautiously optimistic but make sure to check in pregame Thursday and be ready to pivot if we get bad news on Waddle. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [NO - WR Michael Thomas not practicing Wednesday]( Source: NewOrleansSaints.com New Orleans Saints WR [Michael Thomas](=) (toe) did not practice on Wednesday, Sept. 28. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the injury is not serious but with Thomas any sort of injury concern is...well...concerning. WR Jarvis Landry (ankle) is also out of action on Wednesday, so snare rookie WR Chris Olave if he's out there on the waiver wire. [ARI - TE Zach Ertz sits out]() Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban Arizona Cardinals TE [Zach Ertz](=) (non-injury) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 28. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's just a day of rest for Ertz, a seasoned veteran who doesn't need to be out there every day in order to play and produce on Sundays. We like him as a top-10 fantasy tight end (in the six to 10 range) against the Panthers in Week 4. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [NO - TE Taysom Hill limited]() Source: NewOrleansSaints.com New Orleans Saints TE [Taysom Hill](=) (rib) was limited in practice on Wednesday, Sept. 28. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hill got some work as a quarterback on Wednesday with Jameis Winston out of action. Andy Dalton got first-team work, and Hill got some reps at quarterback behind him. The Saints say Winston will play in Week 4, so Hill will just work as a gadget player once again if that's the case. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [NO - RB Alvin Kamara limited]( Source: NewOrleansSaints.com New Orleans Saints RB [Alvin Kamara](=) (ribs) turned in a limited practice on Wednesday, Sept. 28. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Kamara is coming off a bad game against the Panthers in Week 3. He's looking to rebound after a fumble lost for a touchdown, seven targets but only two catches, and a rushing stat line of just 15-for-61. We still have Kamara as a low-end RB1 in PPR formats. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [CAR - TE Ian Thomas limited Wednesday]( Source: Panthers.com Carolina Panthers TE [Ian Thomas](=) (ankle) was limited in practice on Wednesday, Sept. 28. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Thomas has been consistently uninvolved in the Panthers' offense. He's gotten three targets each game this year, and Thomas has just five catches for 79 scoreless yards. Tight end is brutal for Fantasy GMs, and we don't see Thomas becoming a hot name on your waiver wire given his current usage. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [ARI - WR A.J. Green doubtful for Week 4]( Source: GoPHNX.com - Howard Balzer Arizona Cardinals WR [A.J. Green](=) (knee) is doubtful for Week 4, head coach Kliff Kingsbury said on Wednesday, Sept. 28. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Green suffered a bone bruise in the first half last week against the Rams. That means the Cardinals' passing game is going to lean on guys like WRs Marquise Brown and Greg Dortch, plus TE Zach Ertz, more going forward. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [ARI - WR Marquise Brown receives day off]() Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban Arizona Cardinals WR [Marquise Brown](=) (non-injury) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 28. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Brown is getting some rest, and we should see him out there for a full practice on Thursday and Friday. Against the Panthers on Sunday, we like Brown as a mid-range WR2 with upside in Week 4. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 17. [ARI - RB James Conner a limited participant]() Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban Arizona Cardinals RB [James Conner](=) (knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 28. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] He's limited on Wednesday, but so long as Conner gets full work in on Friday he's good to go. In Week 4, we've got Conner in the low-end RB2 range with touchdown upside as always. Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury has dropped hints that Conner could get some more work. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 18. [NYG - WR Kadarius Toney still not practicing](=) Source: Giants.com New York Giants WR [Kadarius Toney](=) (hamstring) did not practice on Wednesday, Sept. 28. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] With Sterling Shepard (knee) done for the year, we're all waiting to see if Toney can get on the practice field and get into the good graces of the coaching staff which would get him used more on offense. Let's wait to see what he can do on Friday before getting excited about any sort of opportunity in the Giants' offense. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 19. [NYG - Wan'Dale Robinson still not practicing](=) Source: Giants.com New York Giants WR Wan'Dale Robinson (knee) did not practice on Wednesday, Sept. 28. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Robinson is an exciting and explosive rookie, but this knee injury has slowed him down. With Sterling Shepard (knee) out for the year, we're all waiting to see who could elevate their game in his place. Robinson is on the list, but he's likely behind Kadarius Toney if/when both are healthy. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of Footballguys.
