[HOU - RB Royce Freeman returning to Houston](#10) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [NE - QB Mac Jones feeling better]( Source: NFL Network - Mike Giardi New England Patriots QB [Mac Jones](=) (back) said he is feeling better and that he hopes to be able to play in the Week 2 game. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jones reportedly is dealing with back spasms. We'll keep an eye on how he's able to work this week and hopefully we'll have some clarity soon. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [DAL - QB Dak Prescott out 6-8 weeks]( Source: ESPNDallas.com - Todd Archer Updating earlier reports, Dallas Cowboys QB [Dak Prescott](=) (thumb) will have surgery Monday, Sept. 12, to have a pin and plate inserted to stabilize the joint in his thumb. He'll miss six to eight weeks. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The recovery timeline means the Cowboys are likely to soon place Prescott on Injured Reserve. With a bye in Week 9, Prescott could be available to return when the Cowboys play against the Packers in Week 10. Cooper Rush takes over at quarterback in the meantime, and Fantasy GMs should downgrade players like Ezekiel Elliott, CeeDee Lamb, and Dalton Schultz while Prescott is out. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [SF - RB Elijah Mitchell going on IR](=) Source: NBC Sports Bay Area - Matt Maiocco San Francisco 49ers RB [Elijah Mitchell](=) (knee) will not need surgery on his sprained medial collateral ligament but will be placed on the Reserve/Injured list. He is expected to be sidelined for about eight weeks. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We should see RB Jeff Wilson get work as the team's lead back, and they'll continue to have a rotation of backs with guys like Jordan Mason behind him. We'll also see WR Deebo Samuel share some of the workload of carries in the 49ers backfield. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [LAC - WR Keenan Allen a long shot for Week 2](=) Source: ESPN.com - Lindsey Thiry Updating earlier reports, Los Angeles Chargers WR [Keenan Allen](=) (hamstring) indicated after the Week 1 game against the Las Vegas Raiders that his hamstring was 'not bad,' but he added there was only a 'small' possibility he'd be available for the game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday, Sept. 15. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We doubt Allen is able to play on a short week. It's unfortunate for the Chargers since they play against the Chiefs with an early lead in the AFC West on the line. The Chargers will lean on Mike Williams and Josh Palmer more in Week 2. We'll also see DeAndre Carter and Jalen Guyton get a larger opportunity if Allen misses the game on Thursday night. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [PIT - RB Najee Harris aggravated preseason foot injury?](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Pittsburgh Steelers RB [Najee Harris](=) (foot) reportedly tweaked the Lisfranc injury that he suffered last month, according to a source via NFL Media's Ian Rapoport. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] There was a scary play against the Bengals where Harris was tackled awkwardly. The Steelers will likely take it easy on Harris during the week of practice every week he can deal with and play through this injury. If you have the bench space, go ahead and grab Jaylen Warren as a stash play in case Harris has to miss time. [TB - WR Chris Godwin expected to miss a few weeks]() Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR [Chris Godwin](=) (knee, hamstring) likely avoided a major injury, but it is possible he misses a few weeks with the hamstring strain he suffered in Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Good thing the Buccaneers have a ton of talent at the wide receiver position. Mike Evans is the lead receiver as usual, but now we'll see more Russell Gage and Julio Jones. With a larger role, Gage could be a high-end flex play and even push for WR2 numbers some weeks. Jones retains his flex value as a seasoned veteran who is working to become a Tom Brady favorite. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [PIT - OLB T.J. Watt to gather more information regarding injury]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers LB T.J. Watt (pectoral) reportedly suffered a torn pectoral muscle in Week 1, but he is expected to pursue second and third medical opinions before making a decision on how to proceed with his recovery. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Watt would miss approximately six weeks if he doesn't need surgery but would miss the rest of the season if he does. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [CIN - WR Tee Higgins day-to-day](=) Source: ESPN.com - Ben Baby Cincinnati Bengals WR [Tee Higgins](=) (concussion) remains in the concussion protocol as of Monday, Sept. 12, but head coach Zac Taylor told reporters the conversations regarding Higgins' Week 2 prognosis are 'encouraging' but that he is day-to-day. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Higgins will go through the league's concussion protocol. That means he will be limited, and when he practices the team will have to see how his body responds. At the end of the week, we should know more about Higgins' availability in Week 2. The Bengals travel to face the Cowboys on Sunday afternoon this weekend. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [HOU - RB Rex Burkhead led the way]() Source: Pro Football Network - Aaron Wilson Updating a previous report, Houston Texans RB [Rex Burkhead](=) played on 71 percent of the snaps in Week 1. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Burkhead got a huge portion of the workload, while rookie RB Dameon Pierce only got 28 percent of the work in the backfield. It's clear the coaching staff trusts Burkhead more, especially on passing downs. As Pierce gets better, mainly in pass protection, the team could start using these two more in a 50-50 RBBC. In Week 2, both Pierce and Burkhead have flex appeal against the Broncos. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [HOU - RB Royce Freeman returning to Houston]( Source: Houston Texans PR Free-agent RB Royce Freeman (Texans) was added to the practice squad of the Houston Texans on Monday, Sept. 12. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Freeman has been bounced on and off the Texans roster (and practice squad) multiple times just this calendar year. In crazy deep dynasty formats we'll continue to monitor him, but the former third-round pick of the Broncos just doesn't have enough staying power to get a chance. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family.
