[GB - TE Robert Tonyan expected to play]() Source: Packers.com - Wes Hodkiewicz Green Bay Packers TE Robert Tonyan (knee) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 9, but is not on the injury report for Week 1. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Good news here. It's also worth noting running back Aaron Jones was talking up the chemistry between Aaron Rodgers and Tonyan saying the TE could lead the team in receptions. Stay tuned. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [SF - TE George Kittle listed as questionable](=) Source: 49ers.com San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle (groin) did not participate in practice Friday, Sept. 9, and is listed as questionable for Week 1. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's not official until it's official, but many seem to think Kittle will miss this week's game. Fortunately, it's a 1:00 PM kickoff at Chicago Sunday so we'll have time to react. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [ARI - WR Rondale Moore ruled out](=) Source: KSHB 41 News - Nick Jacobs Arizona Cardinals WR Rondale Moore (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 1, per the team's injury report on Friday, Sept. 9. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] WR Greg Dortch had a terrific summer, making the team and securing a role, and he could be the starting slot receiver against Kansas City. Keep tabs on him in deep dynasty leagues. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [GB - Another DNP for Allen Lazard](=) Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky Green Bay Packers WR Allen Lazard (ankle) did not participate in practice Friday, Sept. 9. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Given the conservative nature of the Packers staff when it comes to injuries, Lazard is almost certainly out for Week 1. Randall Cobb, Sammy Watkins, and Romeo Doubs all become more intriguing flex options on Sunday, with Cobb probably the safest play and Doubs carrying the most upside. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [PIT - WR Diontae Johnson declares he'll play](=) Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - Ray Fittipaldo Pittsburgh Steelers WR Diontae Johnson (shoulder) told the media Friday, Sept. 9, that he will play in Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Johnson logged two full practices ahead of the opener. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This isn't a lower body soft tissue that would be more prone to re-injury, but shoulder injuries can also be touchy if a receiver comes down hard on it, so we can't say Johnson is completely in the clear. Mitchell Trubisky will hold down Johnson's upside, but he's still a solid PPR WR3/Flex against the Bengals. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [TB - WR Chris Godwin decision likely coming late](=) Source: ESPN.com - Jenna Laine Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (knee) will be a game-time decision against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Godwin's game is Sunday night, and if he plays, he'll probably be on a pitch count, so you should just set your lineup without him. If Russell Gage is active, he'll be a solid PPR play, and Julio Jones has some flex appeal with Godwin limited or out. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [NYJ - Slow build for Breece Hall?]() Source: ESPN.com - Rich Cimini New York Jets RB Breece Hall's role will 'evolve over time,' according Rich Cimini of ESPN.com, and Cimini said the Jets are 'not going to hand everything to the rookie out of the gate.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Michael Carter is the better play in the Jets backfield right now. Hold tight if you invested a high pick in Hall, the worst thing you can do in redraft right now is sell low, assuming his role is small vs. the Ravens. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [BAL - No deal for QB Lamar Jackson]() Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson and the front office did not reach agreement on a contract extension, the team announced Friday, Sept. 9. Jackson is playing on the final year of his rookie contract, which is worth $23 million. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jackson's franchise tag number for next year will be around 45 million based on the current state of quarterback contracts. It's hard to know how much this has to do with Jackson representing himself, and how much it has to do with Deshaun Watson's fully guaranteed deal setting unreasonable expectations for Jackson. Here's hoping he can make it through the season healthy, keeping his long term contract prospects intact. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [ATL - Week 1 injury report for Atlanta]( Source: AtlantaFalcons.com Atlanta Falcons WR Drake London (knee) and CB Darren Hall (quad) were limited in practice all week and are listed as questionable for Week 1 against the New Orleans Saints. TE Parker Hesse (personal) was not given a practice designation for a second straight day Friday, Sept. 9, but no longer appears on the injury report. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Head coach Arthur Smith said a decision will be made on London's status tomorrow. Even if he does play, he'll likely see a lot of Marshon Lattimore, so it's not advisable to play the first round pick. Set your lineup without him if you can. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [NO - WR Michael Thomas intends to play](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas (hamstring) intends to play in Week 1, according to sources. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Thomas is a risky play in his first game action in almost two years, but he was productive playing on his busted-up ankle with Taysom Hill at quarterback in 2020. If he's active, he'll be tough to bench in PPR leagues where three wide receivers start. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [MIA - RB Chase Edmonds off injury report]( Source: The Miami Herald - Daniel Oyefusi Miami Dolphins RB Chase Edmonds (groin) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 9, and has been removed from the Week 1 injury report. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Edmonds should share with Raheem Mostert, so both are flex plays at best, although Edmonds should get a boost in the passing game as the best receiving back on the team. Not being listed on the injury report is the best outcome Edmonds fantasy teams could have hoped for. Even if Mostert is the superior back this week, his injury history indicates that Edmonds will eventually get a chance to lead this backfield. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [SF - QB Trey Lance Not Named A Captain]( Source: Mike Florio, NBC On Thursday, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan announced the team's six captains for 2022. If there had been a seventh, it would have been quarterback Trey Lance. Shanahan's explanation for cutting off the captains at six was unconvincing. He initially stumbled, identifying receiver Deebo Samuel as a captain before pointing out that Samuel finished eighth in the voting, behind Lance. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] I don't want to read too much into this but I don't like it. Shanahan's been around the NFL literally all his life. He knows how important this type of thing is. To have the option of allowing 7 captains but choosing to cut it off at 6 and exclude Lance seems odd at best. [NYJ - Duane Brown out for Week 1](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport New York Jets OT Duane Brown (shoulder) has been ruled out for Week 1, and he could land on Injured Reserve. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Jets will move George Fant back to left tackle, after he was moved to right tackle when Brown signed, after he was moved to left tackle when Mekhi Becton was moved to the right side before going down for the year. It looks like fourth-round pick Max Mitchell will man right tackle. It's a good week to start the Ravens D/ST and fade the Jets pass offense, outside of maybe Elijah Moore. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [PHI - Philly's Week 1 injury report](=) Source: PhiladelphiaEagles.com Philadelphia Eagles DE Derek Barnett (ribs), NT Javon Hargrave (toe), RB Miles Sanders (hamstring) and CB Josiah Scott (hamstring) practiced in full Friday, Sept. 9, and have been removed from the injury report for Week 1 versus the Detroit Lions. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Sanders won't dominate touches in the Eagles backfield, but he should get the largest workload and have the best chance of a big play against a Lions defense that will be stressed out trying to cover A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert, while playing 11 on 11 in the run game against Jalen Hurts and a good offensive line. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [MIA - WR Jaylen Waddle ready to play]( Source: The Miami Herald - Daniel Oyefusi Miami Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle (quadriceps) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 9, and has been removed from the Week 1 injury report. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This is great news as Waddle came out of the summer with a lower-body injury, which can be a lingering problem for speedy wide receivers. He's a boom/bust play in the unveiling of the Mike McDaniel offense and regime in Miami. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [TB - Tampa Bay's Week 1 injury report](=) Source: ESPN.com - Jenna Laine Tampa Bay Buccaneers CB Zyon McCollum (hamstring) did not practice all week and has been ruled out for Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys. WR Russell Gage Jr. (hamstring) was limited in practice all week and is listed as questionable. WR Chris Godwin (knee) was upgraded to a full practice Friday, Sept. 9, but is also listed as questionable. LB Lavonte David (rest) and WR Mike Evans (rest) did not participate in practice Friday but have been removed the injury report. RB Giovani Bernard (ankle), S Mike Edwards (illness), WR Julio Jones (rest), S Logan Ryan (hamstring) and OT Tristan Wirfs (abdomen) practiced in full Friday and no longer appear on the injury report. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It seems like neither of Gage or Godwin are safe plays this week. If one sits, the other will have more upside to offset the risk of playing them with a questionable tag, but we might not know that for certain until Sunday night, well after lineups set. Mike Evans has a lot of appeal this week in light of that, and Julio Jones could even make it into a few lineups. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 17. [ARI - TE Zach Ertz returns to practice]() Source: ESPN.com - Josh Weinfuss Arizona Cardinals TE Zach Ertz (calf) was on the field Friday, Sept. 9, during the portion of practice open to the media. Ertz was held out of practice Thursday. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Tight end is thin enough that Ertz should be in your lineup as long as he is active despite the risk of limited play or re-injury. Hopefully we will have clarity on this situation when we set lineups on Sunday morning, as Ertz plays in a late game. He should get an outsized target share until DeAndre Hopkins returns from his six-game suspension in Week 7. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 18. [WAS - Washington's injury report for Week 1]() Source: Commanders.com Washington Commanders S Kamren Curl (thumb) did not practice all week and has been ruled out for Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. TE Logan Thomas (knee) and TE Cole Turner (hamstring) were limited in practice all week and are listed as questionable. WR Cam Sims (concussion) was also limited in practice all week but no longer appears on the injury report. TE John Bates (calf), DT Phidarian Mathis (ankle) and OG Trai Turner (quad) practiced in full all week and have also been removed from the injury report. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Thomas wasn't expected to be this close to playing after suffering an ACL, MCL, and meniscus tear in Week 13 last season. He shouldn't be in lineups and probably isn't worth rostering in redraft leagues yet, but just that he's questionable this week and participating in practice is a great sign. John Bates should be the primary receiving tight end for the Commanders this week. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 19. [BAL - Week 1 injury report for Baltimore]( Source: BaltimoreRavens.com Baltimore Ravens DT Travis X. Jones (knee) did not practice all week and has been ruled out for Week 1 against the New York Jets. OT Ronnie Stanley (ankle) was upgraded to a limited practice Friday, Sept. 9, but is listed as doubtful. CB Marcus Peters (rest, knee) did not practice Friday but is listed as questionable. RB J.K. Dobbins (knee) was limited in practice all week and is also listed as questionable. DE Calais Campbell (rest) and LB Justin Houston (rest) did not practice Friday but no longer appear the injury report. TE Nick Boyle (rest, ankle) was upgraded to a full practice Friday and was also been removed from the injury report. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The hope was that Stanley would be back against the Jets, but the foundational left tackle is unlikely to go against a revitalized Jets pass rush. Dobbins has always seemed iffy at best for Week 1. He should be on your bench, and be thrilled if he plays and goes off. It's not clear whether Mike Davis or Kenyan Drake will be the better play in place of Dobbins. Both are desperation plays this week. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 20. [DET - Detroit's injury report for Week 1](=) Source: DetroitLions.com Detroit Lions OG Tommy Kraemer (back) and DT Levi Onwuzurike (back) did not practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles. S Ifeatu Melifonwu (hamstring) was limited in practice all week and is listed as doubtful. LB Julian Okwara (hamstring) and C Frank Ragnow (groin) were limited in practice Friday, Sept, 9, and are listed as questionable. LB Chris Board (knee), DE John Cominsky (illness) and PK Austin Seibert (groin) practiced in full Friday and no longer appear on the injury report. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Ragnow practicing is good news after his groin injury raised the specter of a long absence earlier in the week. The team has already lost a guard and a backup guard, losing one of the best centers in the game would have been a big blow. He's still not a sure thing to play against the tough Eagles defensive line, so it could be a long afternoon for the between-the-tackles running game. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 21. [PIT - Week 1 injury report for Pittsburgh]( Source: Steelers.com Pittsburgh Steelers WR Diontae Johnson (shoulder) was upgraded to a full practice Friday, Sept. 9, and no longer appears on the injury report for Week 1 versus the Cincinnati Bengals. LB Marcus D. Allen (hamstring), OT Chukwuma Okorafor (back) and DT Cameron Heyward (coach's decision) practiced in full on Friday and also have been removed from the injury report. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Johnson being removed from the injury report is terrific news after he painted a much more worrisome picture of his shoulder injury status earlier this week. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 22. [LAC - LA Chargers' injury report for Week 1](=) Source: Raiders.com Los Angeles Chargers CB J.C. Jackson (ankle) and TE Donald Parham (hamstring) did not practice all week and are listed as doubtful for Week 1 versus the Las Vegas Raiders. LB Drue Tranquill (back) was added to the injury report following a limited practice Friday, Sept. 9, and is listed as questionable. RB Isaiah Spiller (ankle) practiced in full all week and no longer appears on the injury report. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Gerald Everett is a good streaming tight end this week in what should be one of the highest-scoring games of the weekend. With Parham probably out, Everett is more likely to get any tight end red zone targets. Jackson likely sitting is great for Davante Adams and really the whole Raiders passing game, as they'll need to change their approach with their new shutdown corner on the sidelines. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 23. [NE - New England's injury report for Week 1]( Source: Patriots.com New England Patriots WR Jakobi Meyers (knee), WR Ty Montgomery (knee) and OT Isaiah Wynn (back) were limited in practice all week and are listed as questionable for Week 1 versus the Miami Dolphins. S Joshuah Bledsoe (groin) was limited in practice for a second straight day Friday, Sept. 9, and is also listed as questionable. CB Shaun Wade (ankle) was added to the injury report Friday and is listed as questionable. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Meyers is probably the safest Patriots wide receiver play, even with the questionable tag, which means you should avoid all of them this week. Wynn's health has been a question all summer for an offensive line that can't afford any injuries. This could be a rough week for the Patriots offense, kicking off what could be a rough year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 24. [IND - OLB Shaquille Leonard to sit the opener]( Source: ESPN.com - Stephen Holder Indianapolis Colts LB Shaquille Leonard (back) was ruled out for Week 1 versus the Houston Texans on Friday, Sept. 9. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This improves the matchup for Dameon Pierce and maybe Brevin Jordan. Certainly the Texans offense will be helped by avoiding probably the best off-ball linebacker in the game. IDP players will be without one of the top picks in drafts this week.
