[SF - TE George Kittle unlikely to play Week 1]( Source: Pro Football Network - Aaron Wilson San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle (groin) is unlikely to play in Week 1 as he deals with an unspecified groin injury, per sources on Thursday, Sept. 8. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That's what the buzz was in the middle of the week, and the team should take it easy on Kittle so this groin injury can properly heal. They've got veteran TE Tyler Kroft there to do more with Kittle missing time. We also have some sleeper love for Charlie Woerner in dynasty formats. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [GB - Allen Lazard sits again Thursday](=) Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky Green Bay Packers WR Allen Lazard (ankle) did not participate in practice again Thursday, Sept. 8. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Packers keep insisting this ankle injury is minor, but they sure are being cautious (wisely so) with Lazard. We'll know more about his status for the season opener against the Vikings when Friday's practice report is in. Fantasy GMs need to make other plans. The plan for the Packers in a divisional game to open the season might be Sammy Watkins, rookie Romeo Doubs, and old faithful Randall Cobb. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [PIT - WR Diontae Johnson limited again](=) Source: Steelers.com - Teresa Varley Pittsburgh Steelers WR Diontae Johnson (shoulder) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 8. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fantasy GMs need to keep an eye on this situation. Johnson will have to practice Friday in order for the team to trust him in the season opener against the Bengals. If Johnson plays, we like him as a WR3/flex option. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [TB - WR Chris Godwin likely game-time decision]() Source: The Athletic - Greg Auman Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 8, and expect his decision on whether he will play in Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys to come down to how he feels on Sunday, Sept. 11. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's a Sunday night game, so Fantasy GMs are going to need backup options at the ready. Godwin could play, but the Buccaneers have no incentive to rush him. If Godwin is out there in Week 1 against the Cowboys, he's a risky WR3/flex play from a fantasy perspective. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [CAR - RB Christian McCaffrey added to injury report]() Source: ESPN.com - Kimberley A. Martin Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (shin) was added to the injury report on Thursday, Sept. 8, but still managed to get in a full practice. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This is a minor injury, but we just want a week where McCaffrey is not on the injury report. McCaffrey suffered a cut on his shin from a teammate's cleat during practice but head coach Matt Rhule said it isn't serious. He's a must-start RB1 every week he's healthy, and McCaffrey could finish as the best fantasy back this week at home against the Browns. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [TB - WR Chris Godwin not seen at Thursday's practice]() Source: Tampa Bay Times - Rick Stroud Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (knee) was not seen at practice Thursday, Sept. 8, during the portion open to the media. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Godwin was trending in the right direction for a Week 1 return, but the Buccaneers have no need to rush him back onto the field. It's a Sunday Night Football game against the Cowboys, so Fantasy GMs are likely to make other plans. Godwin is being considered a game-time decision at this point. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [HOU - Dameon Pierce named as a starter]() Source: HoustonTexans.com - Deepi Sidhu Houston Texans RB Dameon Pierce has 'earned the right to line up there with the (starters),' according to head coach Lovie Smith.'As a rookie, he's come into the building, and asked 'What do I need to do coach?' First day, 'What do I need to do?', and then gone to work, doing it, showing up, hasn't missed anything, hasn't worried about practice squad. ... He's earned an opportunity to lead us. It was asked, is he our starting running back? He's earned the right to line up there with the one's, the first snap and I'm anxious to see him play,' Smith told the team's website on Wednesday, Sept. 7. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Pierce has been a consistent performer for the Texans all offseason. They'll go with him as the starter, but veteran Rex Burkhead is going to time as a pass-catcher out of the backfield. We like Pierce as an RB3/flex play in Week 1 against the Colts. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [ARI - TE Zach Ertz not spotted Thursday]() Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban Arizona Cardinals TE Zach Ertz (calf) was not spotted Thursday, Sept. 8, during the portion of practice open to the media. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Ertz was limited on Wednesday, and now he's not spotted during the open media portion of practice on Thursday. It's not a great sign of his availability. We'll see what he can do on Friday, but Fantasy GMs likely have better options in Week 1. [DAL - QB Dak Prescott dealing with ankle issue]( Source: The Athletic - Jon Machota Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott (ankle) was limited in practice on Thursday, Sept. 8, with an unspecified ankle injury. 'I'm good to go. I promise you I'm great,' Prescott said of the injury. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Prescott may be a little banged up, but he's going to be good to go against the Buccaneers on Sunday Night Football. We like him as a low-end QB1 in Week 1, and overall for the 2022 season Prescott should perform like a top-10 fantasy quarterback if healthy. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [MIA - RB Chase Edmonds upgraded]( Source: The Miami Herald - Daniel Oyefusi Miami Dolphins RB Chase Edmonds (groin) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 8. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Good news here. We like Edmonds in this reshaped offense. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [PHI - RB Miles Sanders good to go?]() Source: 94WIP Radio - Eliot Shorr-Parks Philadelphia Eagles RB Miles Sanders (hamstring) told the media Thursday, Sept. 8, that he's 'absolutely' ready to play Week 1 against the Detroit Lions. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Good news for Fantasy GMs here, but it's still going to be a frustrating situation with the Eagles backfield from a fantasy perspective. Sanders missed last week due to a hamstring injury. As we've reported earlier this week, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said his concern level for Sanders' hamstring injury is "not high." We like Sanders' flex appeal this week in the season opener against the Lions. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [LAR - Sean McVay, Les Snead extended]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay and general manager Les Snead were signed to contract extensions, the team announced Thursday, Sept. 8. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We all knew these deals were coming in the near future, and the Rams finalize things on Thursday. The extension tied both McVay and Snead to the Rams through 2026. The duo was able to get the Rams a Super Bowl championship last year, and they've got the time and the roster to make another run over the next few seasons. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [BAL - RB Gus Edwards optimistic about return]( Source: BaltimoreRavens.com - Kevin Eck Baltimore Ravens RB Gus Edwards (knee) posted on social media Wednesday, Sept. 7, that he is 'doing great ... and very close (to returning).' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We've got some positive news about Edwards, and on the PUP list, he will automatically be forced from the first four weeks of the regular season. When healthy, Edwards gives the Ravens a hard-charging runner who can grind down opponents or close out a game late. If you play in a league with a deep bench, Edwards should be stashed away for an October return. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [SEA - Kenneth Walker III unlikely to go in Week 1](=) Source: Jordan Schultz Seattle Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker III (hernia) is 'highly likely' to sit in Week 1 against the Denver Broncos, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Bad news for the rookie runner here, but Seattle will have to move forward without him against the Broncos. Starter Rashaad Penny should get a sizable workload against Denver, mainly because that's what the team wants to do (run early and often) but also to play keep away from QB Russell Wilson. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [DAL - WR Michael Gallup practices in full Thursday]() Source: ESPN - Ed Werder Dallas Cowboys WR Michael Gallup (knee) was spotted in full pads Thursday, Sept. 8. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Gallup is putting in the work, but he's not expected to go on Sunday night against the Buccaneers. It's more likely we see a return in Week 2 or Week 3 for the veteran receiver. If Gallup doesn't play in Week 1, Noah Brown and rookie Jalen Tolbert will get more time. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [BAL - RB J.K. Dobbins' status to be revealed Friday](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Baltimore Ravens RB J.K. Dobbins (knee) will find out if he will suit up for Week 1 against the New York Jets on Friday, Sept. 8, according to head coach John Harbaugh. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Ah yes, we're back to the Friday reveal for many banged up players around the league. Dobbins has been coming back from the ACL injury that cost him the entirety of the 2021 season. If Dobbins can't play, the Ravens can easily turn to Mike Davis and Kenyan Drake in their backfield against the Jets.
