[NYJ - QB Zach Wilson still in play?](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport New York Jets QB Zach Wilson (knee) worked out Monday, Sept. 5, and could still potentially start in Week 1. The team will decide Wednesday, Sept. 7. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Don't count out the young QB just yet. There's a chance he could be ready for Week 1, but it's better if the Jets proceed with caution with a player they hope can develop into a franchise quarterback. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [ATL - RB Damien Williams to be a factor](=) Source: AtlantaFalcons.com - Scott Bair Atlanta Falcons RB Damien Williams did not play much in the preseason 'because the team wanted to make sure one of their primary runners didn't take a ton of hits this summer,' according to Scott Bair of the team's website. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] When the Falcons added Williams, Fantasy GMs just knew he was going to play a role. Williams is a talented player who can make a living between the tackles, and he's got some moves in space. With rookie RB Tyler Allgeier, Williams should split time in the backfield when it comes to carries. Oh yeah, Cordarrelle Patterson will work on passing downs as the featured back. A three-way split is frustrating from a fantasy perspective, and Williams' best value may come as a goal-line option. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [MIA - WR Jaylen Waddle cleared for opener]( Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson Miami Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle (lower body) was spotted at practice Monday, Sept. 5. Per head coach Mike McDaniel, Waddle will be 'fine' for Week 1 versus the New England Patriots. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fantasy GMs should be pleased with this news. The Dolphins are going to run the heck out of the ball, but having Waddle and WR Tyreek Hill gives this passing game a lot of punch. Seeing better coverage options with defenses so focused on Hill, Waddle provides WR2 with upside potential for Fantasy GMs out there. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [LAR - QB Matthew Stafford has no limitations]() Source: NFL Network - Omar Ruiz Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford (elbow) has no limitations on his right elbow heading into Week 1, according to head coach Sean McVay. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Good news for the veteran quarterback here. The Rams open up the regular season on Thursday night with a home game against the Buffalo Bills. Stafford could throw 50-55 times if needed, according to McVay. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [TB - RB Leonard Fournette to see lighter load?]() Source: The Athletic - Greg Auman Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Leonard Fournette played 80 percent of the team's offensive snaps only once over the first 10 games before doing so in three straight contests prior to suffering a hamstring injury that sidelined him for the final three games of the regular season. In the opinion of The Athletic's Greg Auman, Tampa Bay would prefer to keep him in the 60-to-70 percent range in 2022. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Buccaneers have rookie RB Rachaad White to give Fournette a breather. While Fournette is the banger, White is a dynamic back with electric moves in space. They also have Gio Bernard and Ke'Shawn Vaughn to take some touches away from Fournette as well. We could see "playoff Lenny" get more touches, like he did last year, if/when the Buccaneers make the playoffs. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [JAX - RB James Robinson expected to go in opener](=) Source: Pro Football Focus - Ari Meirov Jacksonville Jaguars RB James Robinson (Achilles) will be active in Week 1 against the Washington Commanders, according to head coach Doug Pederson. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Good news for the Jaguars here. Robinson should be able to go, but don't expect a full workload for him. We should see the team have Robinson split time with 2021 first-round pick Travis Etienne. In Week 1, with the unknown of his workload and time split with Etienne, Fantasy GMs should be cautious and consider Robinson a flex play. Robinson does have RB2 upside if at full strength. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [BAL - Big role for Isaiah Likely?]() Source: The Athletic - Jeff Zrebiec Baltimore Ravens TE Isaiah Likely is the 'closest thing' the Ravens have to a No. 3 option in the passing game, according to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Likely was a favorite of Cecil Lammey and Matt Waldman before the 2022 NFL draft. Coming out of Coastal Carolina, Likely impressed in the pre-draft process, and the Ravens were able to select him in the fourth round. During camp and two games of the preseason, Likely impressed with his ability to create mismatches and separation. The Ravens have TE Mark Andrews as a starter, but Likely could get onto the field in two-TE formations. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [TB - WR Chris Godwin sheds knee brace]() Source: Tampa Bay Times - Greg Auman Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (knee) practiced Monday, Sept. 5, without a brace on his knee. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Things are trending in the right direction for Godwin. As planned, the Buccaneers have eased him along so he could be ready at some point early in the season. If Godwin does play in Week 1, he's likely to be on a snap count. [WAS - TE Logan Thomas uncertain for Week 1]( Source: The Athletic - Ben Standig Washington Commanders TE Logan Thomas (knee) told reporters his surgically repaired knee feels good but that no decision has been made in regards to him playing in Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Thomas has talent, but Fantasy GMs are no longer relying on him. If he did get selected in your fantasy draft, it's just as a TE2 to monitor. Sure, Thomas has the upside to be a starter for your fantasy team but his injury history reads like Infinite Jest. You simply can't count on him, and most have moved on. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [CIN - WR Tee Higgins back to work Monday]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Cincinnati Bengals WR Tee Higgins (shoulder) took part in practice on Monday, Sept. 5. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Higgins is getting ready for the start of the regular season. After offseason shoulder surgery, Higgins has been limited during training camp. Against the Steelers in Week 1, Higgins is a WR2 with upside for Fantasy GMs. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [GB - Two GB receivers in question for Week 1?](=) Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - Tom Silverstein Green Bay Packers WR Christian Watson (knee) has come along enough in his recovery from minor knee surgery that he is 'hopeful' for Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings, according to head coach Matt LaFleur on Monday, Sept. 5. Conversely, LaFleur was non-committal about the ability of WR Allen Lazard (undisclosed) in the opener. Lazard is the big one here for fantasy purposes - at least for the moment. There were reports Lazard missed practices last week for undisclosed reasons, but it is still too early to get worried about his Week 1 status just yet. In the event Lazard doesn't play, Sammy Watkins and Randall Cobb would likely start, although the most interesting Packer wideout would likely be Romeo Doubs. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fantasy GMs need to have their radar up in this Lazard situation. We'll monitor his status during the week of practice. The rookie Doubs has had great news come out about him during training camp and the preseason. He's worth a 'what the heck' flex if Lazard can't go. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [ARI - TE Zach Ertz still working through calf injury]() Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban Arizona Cardinals TE Zach Ertz (calf) is 'day-to-day' ahead of the team's Week 1 matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs, according to head coach Kliff Kingsbury on Monday, Sept. 5. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Ertz should be ready for the season opener so long as he doesn't suffer a setback. The Cardinals should ease him into action during the week of practice, and Friday (as per usual) will be his most important day of participation. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [CAR - WR Preston Williams signs with Panthers]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Free-agent WR Preston Williams (Dolphins) signed an undisclosed deal with the Carolina Panthers Monday, Sept. 5. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Williams can fly down the field, and he has a fine size/speed/strength combination. Injuries have robbed him of opportunity, but if he's healthy Williams can start in this league. We'll continue monitoring him in deep dynasty formats now that he's got a new team. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [DEN - Denver adds Vyncint Smith to practice squad]() Source: The Athletic - Nick Kosmider Free-agent WR Vyncint Smith was added to the practice one of the Denver Broncos on Monday, Sept. 5. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Smith is a blazing player who can take the top off the defense. We've monitored him in crazy deep dynasty formats since he came into the league as a UDFA out of Limestone in 2018. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [LAC - Richard Rodgers finds home with LA Chargers](=) Source: Chargers.com Free-agent TE Richard Rodgers was added to the practice squad of the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday, Sept. 5. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Rodgers is mostly a blocker when healthy. He has 27 catches over the last four years, all with the Philadelphia Eagles.
