[SEA - SEA QB decision not imminent](=) Source: ESPN.com - Brady Henderson Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith and QB Drew Lock will continue battling for the starting spot as head coach Pete Carroll said the team will take all the time it needs to make a decision. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fantasy GMs are shaking their heads at this situation. Neither quarterback is a great option, and both of these passers will negatively impact the potential production from WRs D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Carroll said Smith remains ahead but that he's 'wide open' to the possibility that Lock could overtake him. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [LAC - WR Josh Palmer cleared to return](=) Source: NFL.com Los Angeles Chargers WR Josh Palmer (concussion) has gone through the concussion protocol and has been cleared to practice. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Good news for Palmer here. He's competing with Jalen Guyton to be the no.3 receiver for the Chargers behind Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [LVR - Raiders 'not concerned' with TE Darren Waller]( Source: RaidersWire - Levi Damien Las Vegas Raiders TE Darren Waller (hamstring) is not drawing concern from head coach Josh McDaniels despite being absent for much of training camp with a hamstring issue. McDaniels wouldn't say if Waller would be ready for Week 1, though. 'I am not concerned,' said McDaniels on Wednesday, Aug. 24. 'He's doing everything he can to get out there as soon as he can be. I don't want to make a prediction on whether he will or won't be ready here in a few weeks, but I see him every day. He's in every meeting, he's doing everything he can to get out there as fast as possible. We don't have that many guys that are in that boat right now. Darren's certainly one of them. [He's] working his butt off. He knows that he's going to be a big part of this team and what we want to do and he's right there. And like I said he's in meetings. But I'm not concerned about it.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The hamstring injury seems a little more than minor, but we'll trust the team for now. Waller is arguably the best tight end in the game, and he doesn't need a ton of work in camp or the preseason to be ready for the regular season. Fantasy GMs know that Waller is a top-5 fantasy tight end when he's out there. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [CAR - Matt Corral out for season](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Clarifying previous reports, Carolina Panthers QB Matt Corral (foot) will have season-ending surgery to repair a Lisfranc injury. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Corral is a talented quarterback, but he was one of the most oft-injured players at his position in this draft class. He's got moxie, and he can make plays with his arm or legs at the quarterback position. However, his body seems to betray him because he plays with reckless abandon. We still appreciate him in deep dynasty formats, but this is not a great start to his pro career. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [MIA - TE Mike Gesicki being shopped](=) Source: Pro Football Focus - Doug Kyed Miami Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki has been shopped in trade discussions, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Zero surprise here. At least, this news should not be a surprise to those who are familiar with the system new head coach Mike McDaniel is implementing. The tight end position is a key element in the offense, but that player needs to be a good blocker (see George Kittle). It's not like Gesicki needs to play like Kittle, but his receiver-mostly skill set just doesn't fit. Geskicki is playing the 2022 season under the franchise tag, a fully guaranteed $10.9 million. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [SEA - QB Geno Smith to start finale]() Source: The Seattle Times - Bob Condotta Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith will start the team's preseason finale on Friday, Aug. 26, but QB Drew Lock will see significant snaps in the contest, head coach Pete Carroll said on Wednesday, Aug. 24. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Carroll also noted that Smith starting in the final preseason game does not mean he won the starting job. Ah yes, when you have two quarterbacks you really have none...and Seattle is learning that painful lesson this year. They chose Carroll over QB Russell Wilson, so they will roll with substandard quarterback play in 2022. With a load of draft picks, expect the Seahawks to be after the best quarterback in the 2023 NFL draft. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [CIN - No limitations for QB Joe Burrow](=) Source: NFL.com Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow (appendectomy) will have no limitations in joint practices with the Los Angeles Rams, he revealed on Wednesday, Aug. 24. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Bengals have Burrow on track for the start of the regular season. He had his appendix removed earlier this summer, and Burrow has been recovering since then. Burrow should be a fantasy stud this year (once again), but we hope the Bengals do a better job protecting their superstar quarterback. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [MIA - Writing on the wall for RB Myles Gaskin?]() Source: Pro Football Focus - Doug Kyed Miami Dolphins RB Myles Gaskin doesn't have a first-quarter snap this preseason, and 70 percent of his snaps came in the second half of games. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Under new head coach Mike McDaniel, the Dolphins are going to run the heck out of the ball. Gaskin is buried on the depth chart and it shows in his preseason snaps. Chase Edmonds, Sony Michel, and Raheem Mostert are competing for touches in the backfield and Gaskin is no.4 at best. He's clearly on the roster bubble. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [BUF - Quintin Morris impressing]() Source: Pro Football Focus - Doug Kyed Buffalo Bills TE Quintin Morris was one of Buffalo's most improved players this offseason, according to a source. Morris received the start in TE Dawson Knox's absence, not TE O.J. Howard, in the preseason Week 2 matchup. The Bills would save $2.25 million if they traded or released Howard. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Undrafted out of Bowling Green in 2021, Morris signed a reserve/futures contract with the Bills in January of 2022. He spent most of his rookie season on the team's practice squad developing his skill set. Morris is a converted wide receiver who is a threat after the catch. He also brings basketball skills to the football field and knows how to use his frame to box out defenders. Watch him in deep dynasty formats. [NE - RB Damien Harris exits early](=) Source: NESN - Zack Cox New England Patriots RB Damien Harris (undisclosed) left the Wednesday, Aug. 24 practice early due to an undisclosed injury. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We'll see what happens if/when more information about this injury is revealed. Harris is set to be the lead back for the Patriots, but he will be splitting time with Rhamondre Stevenson. Both will be involved on third downs this year with the retirement of James White. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [NO - QB Jameis Winston hopes to play](=) Source: NFL.com New Orleans Saints QB Jameis Winston (foot) said he hopes to play in the final preseason game, but head coach Dennis Allen has not indicated if Winston will play. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Winston doesn't need to play in the final preseason game. He's coming back from the knee injury that cut his 2021 season short, and Winston suffered this foot injury in camp. The foot feels good, but there's no need to push things in the final game before the start of the regular season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [WAS - WR Cam Sims in concussion protocol]( Source: The Washington Post - Nicki Jhabvala Washington Commanders WR Cam Sims (concussion) is in the concussion protocol, per source on Wednesday, Aug. 24. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Head coach Ron Rivera revealed that Sims is unlikely to play in the preseason finale. Sims is competing to be the Commanders' no.4 receiver behind Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, and Curtis Samuel. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [WAS - TE Logan Thomas makes more progress]() Source: ESPN.com - John Keim Washington Commanders TE Logan Thomas participated in seven-on-sevens in practice on Wednesday, Aug. 24, his most significant work since being activated from the active/physically unable to perform list on Monday, Aug. 22. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Good news for the Commanders and Thomas here. When healthy, Thomas can provide QB Carson Wentz with a reliable target to move the chains or near the end zone. His breakout season of 2020 seems like a distant memory, and Fantasy GMs today are considering Thomas a TE3 who could flash here and there. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [NYG - WR Sterling Shepard off PUP list]() Source: ESPN.com - Jordan Raanan New York Giants WR Sterling Shepard (Achilles) was activated off the active/physically unable to perform list on Wednesday, Aug. 24. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We'll see what Shepard can do before the start of the regular season. There's a chance he could begin the year on the PUP list to give him more time to recover. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [DEN - KJ Hamler may play in preseason game]( Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis Denver Broncos WR KJ Hamler (knee) may receive some snaps in the final preseason game if he is cleared to play, according to head coach Nathaniel Hackett. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hamler has looked good going through team drills this week. There's no telling how much he'll play against the Vikings on Saturday. Don't be surprised if the Broncos take a deep shot to showcase Hamler's speed in the preseason finale. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [NYJ - Garrett Wilson struggling with drops]( Source: ESPN.com - Rich Cimini New York Jets WR Garrett Wilson has struggled with drops in training camp, ESPN's Rich Cimini wrote on Wednesday, Aug. 24. 'Garrett Wilson drops a screen from [QB Mike] White. He's had several drops in camp. Too talented to be doing that.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Wilson is a speedy player who can take the top off the defense. The 2022 first-round pick could be a no.1 receiver for the Jets eventually, but he's got to get over these drops. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 17. [BAL - RB Mike Davis misses another practice](=) Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley Baltimore Ravens RB Mike Davis (personal) was excused from practice Wednesday, Aug. 24. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Davis could be in line for plenty of work to begin the regular season. It looks like J.K. Dobbins will be ready for Week 1, but the Ravens might ease him back into action and get Davis some reps as a complementary back.
