[KC - WR JuJu Smith-Schuster the No. 1 receiver?]() Source: Pro Football Focus - Nathan Jahnke Kansas City Chiefs WR JuJu Smith-Schuster played all 11 snaps with QB Patrick Mahomes in the preseason opener against the Chicago Bears, according to Pro Football Focus. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Smith-Schuster is a solid bet to lead the Chiefs wide receivers in receptions. What that translates to in fantasy is to be determined, but you'll have to draft him well before Skyy Moore, Mecole Hardman, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [PIT - George Pickens making an impression]( Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - Gerry Dulac Pittsburgh Steelers WR George Pickens has impressed the team with his ability to make plays in traffic. 'The combat catch, the high-point catch, the 50-50 shot, and he makes those plays,' QB Mason Rudolph said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Pickens has clearly secured a large role in the Steelers offense already. Will it come at the expense of Chase Claypool? Does it matter in redraft leagues with the Steelers pass offense expected to be one of the least efficient in the league? Pickens is a big story that we can't ignore, but there might not be much fantasy profit coming from it in 2022. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [LVR - RB Ameer Abdullah tabbed for big role?](=) Source: ESPN.com Las Vegas Raiders RB Ameer Abdullah was among the players rested during a 26-20 preseason win over the Minnesota Vikings Sunday, Aug. 14. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Albert Breer from Sports Illustrated said the team loves Abdullah, so it's not a stretch to see him in the James White role in Josh McDaniels' backfield. Kenyan Drake is a possible release/trade candidate, and this is not good news for Josh Jacobs, whose ADP has been falling all summer. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [IND - WR Mike Strachan off PUP]( Source: Colts.com - JJ Stankevitz Indianapolis Colts WR Mike Strachan (knee) was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list Monday, Aug. 15. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Ashton Dulin has moved into the WR4 spot (at worst) in Indianapolis. Strachan is trying to beat out Dezmon Patmon among others for a roster spot. He was a small school size/speed prospect the team took in the seventh round last year. [DEN - OLB Randy Gregory activated](=) Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis Denver Broncos LB Randy Gregory (shoulder) was removed from the active/physically unable to perform list on Monday, Aug. 15, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Gregory is a key to the defense, so this is great news for the Broncos. He should be ready for Week 1 at Seattle, which is an ideal matchup if you are looking for a defense to take late in your fantasy start as a lead-off hitter in a streaming approach. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [SF - S Jimmie Ward in doubt for Week 1](=) Source: The Associated Press - Josh Dubow San Francisco 49ers DB Jimmie Ward (hamstring) has a 'pretty bad' hamstring injury and may not be ready for the start of the season, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan on Monday, Aug. 15. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The team has good depth at safety with George Odum and Tarvarius Moore, but obviously the defense will be better when Ward is healthy again. The team faces Chicago Week 1, so there's no reason to rush Ward back. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [LAR - Coach counting on WR Tutu Atwell]( Source: The Orange County Register - Gilbert Manzano Los Angeles Rams WR Tutu Atwell has not played in the preseason 'in response' to questions over WR Van Jefferson's (knee) availability, according to head coach Sean McVay. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Atwell has the best deep speed on the roster, but he's not big enough to play consistently as an outside receiver. He has some best ball appeal, but the team probably won't use him regularly enough to have redraft appeal. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [BAL - CB Marcus Peters cleared to return](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Baltimore Ravens CB Marcus Peters (knee) passed his physical Monday, Aug. 15, and is expected to be eased off the Physical Unable to Perform list. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The team missed Peters among others as their secondary struggled last year. Getting him back will be big. If he's ready for Week 1, he'll likely face former Ravens starter Joe Flacco and the Jets. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family. We'll see you tomorrow with the Update.
