[NO - QB Jameis Winston tweaks foot]() Source: NewOrleansSaints.com New Orleans Saints QB Jameis Winston (foot) left practice early on Monday, Aug. 8, due to an unspecified foot injury, head coach Dennis Allen said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Saints want to be cautious here, and they will be. Winston is coming back from the knee injury that cut his 2021 season short, and all reports indicate he looks good in practice. Behind Winston, the Saints have Andy Dalton as the primary backup and Ian Book working as a developmental quarterback. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [BUF - OBJ hints at interest in Bills]() Source: NewYorkUpstate.com - Ryan Talbot Free-agent WR Odell Beckham Jr. (Rams) hinted that he might be interested in joining the Buffalo Bills after commenting on an Instagram post by LB Von Miller. 'What's the locker next to you look like,' Beckham commented, while also including an eyes emoji. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] NFL fans and Fantasy GMs are waiting to see where Beckham lands this year. Beckham's torn ACL in the Super Bowl has put him on the rehab train this offseason, and he's expected to be ready somewhere around the middle of the regular season. The Rams, Packers, and now the Bills may be where he's interested in signing. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [CAR - QB Baker Mayfield has 'inside track'](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Carolina Panthers QB Baker Mayfield has the 'inside track' to win the starting quarterback job over QB Sam Darnold, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Zero surprise here. The 'inside track' was built for Mayfield when the team traded with the Browns to acquire the former no.1 overall pick. The Panthers are having a quarterback competition, but Sam Darnold does not seem like he's destined to win that job out of training camp. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [WAS - QB Carson Wentz inconsistent at camp]( Source: The Washington Post - Sam Fortier Washington Commanders QB Carson Wentz has been 'consistently inconsistent' in training camp and is having accuracy issues, according to The Washington Post's Sam Fortier on Sunday, Aug. 7. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Anyone who has watched Wentz with the Colts or the Eagles knows that he's inconsistent. It sounds like he's still the player he used to be. Fantasy GMs should look at Wentz as a QB2 in 12-team leagues. He's ranked between QB14 and QB22 on a per-game basis over the last three seasons. [BAL - RB J.K. Dobbins coming off PUP list]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Baltimore Ravens RB J.K. Dobbins (knee) was activated from the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list Monday, Aug. 8. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter via sources, Dobbins is on track to be ready for the season opener against the New York Jets. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Dobbins has been working for this moment for almost a year. He missed the 2021 season due to a knee injury suffered last year, but the plan has always been to have him ready to begin the 2022 regular season. Dobbins may not be at 100 percent, so the Ravens will ease him back into action. That could mean a larger early-season role for veteran backup Mike Davis. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [PHI - RB Kenneth Gainwell in high-leverage spots]() Source: SI.com - John McMullen Philadelphia Eagles RB Kenneth Gainwell appears to be penciled into high-leverage situations like third downs, the hurry-up offense and goal line. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Gainwell looks to get more touches than some think. The Eagles are going to use more than one running back, and Miles Sanders can still be considered their starter. However, Gainwell could get some high-value touches on this offense when they get near pay dirt. From a fantasy perspective, we like him in the RB40-45 range. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [TEN - Titans rookies listed as backups]() Source: TitansWire - Mike Moraitis Tennessee Titans WRs Treylon Burks and Kyle Philips, RB Hassan Haskins, QB Malik Willis and TE Chigoziem Okonkwo are all listed as backups on the team's first unofficial depth chart. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Nothing is going to be handed to this rookie class, even first-round receiver Treylon Burks. The rookie receiver has had some better days in camp, but the team wants to see more. We'll see if he can impress enough in the preseason to earn a starting job opposite of WR Robert Woods. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [CAR - Carolina isn't shopping QB Sam Darnold]( Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio - Alex Marvez Carolina Panthers QB Sam Darnold is not being shopped on the trade market, according to SiriusXM NFL Radio's Alex Marvez on Monday, Aug. 8. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The 'inside track' to win the starting job is Baker Mayfield. That should be a shock to no one as the team traded for Mayfield earlier this offseason because they wanted an upgrade from Darnold. If/when Darnold loses the starting spot, the Panthers don't seem to be interested in seeing what they could get for him. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family. We'll see you tomorrow with the Update.
