[] 1. [IND - Alec Pierce running with first-team]( Source: The Athletic - Zak Keefer Indianapolis Colts second-round pick WR Alec Pierce has ran with the first-team offense since he was drafted. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Pierce, a second-round pick in this year's draft out of Cincinnati, has good size and strength for the position. He can win contested catches regularly, and Pierce should become a trusted target of QB Matt Ryan. We could see the Colts use Pierce opposite Michael Pittman (another big-bodied wide receiver), while Parris Campbell could use his speed from the slot. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [LAR - QB Matthew Stafford dealing with a sore elbow](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford (elbow) is not expected to throw much over the next few days in practice as he deals with 'bad tendinitis,' according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We're not panicked. But we don't like this one bit for the 34-year-old. Stafford has been dealing with this elbow problem for some time and the Rams are wisely monitoring him closely. He's been limited in what he's done this offseason. Expect this to be the way things are with Stafford early on this season, and the team should continue to manage the tendonitis. We'll be staying very close with this one. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [LAR - WR Van Jefferson to play Week 1?]() Source: The Athletic - Jourdan Rodrigue Los Angeles Rams WR Van Jefferson (knee) had successful knee surgery and has a 'realistic' chance to be ready for Week 1, according to Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jefferson is going to miss a few weeks as he recovers from knee surgery per Rams head coach Sean McVay. That timetable gets him back into action around the start of the regular season. Jefferson then will have to work himself back into football shape which means even if he's available it's unlikely he will be 100 percent when the Rams take on the Bills in Week 1. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [TEN - WR Robert Woods at full strength?](=) Source: NBC Sports - Peter King Tennessee Titans WR Robert Woods (knee) appears 'totally back to normal' following his recovery from a torn ACL, according to Peter King of NBC Sports. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Woods is set to be the Titans' no.1 receiver with A.J. Brown traded away. Rookie first-round pick Treylon Burks will get some targets, but the veteran Woods should be more consistent in his production. We like Woods in the WR30-40 range in fantasy drafts. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [DEN - RB Javonte Williams leading 70-30 split?](=) Source: 104.3 The Fan - Cecil Lammey Denver Broncos RB Javonte Williams is trending toward a lead role in the backfield and could be split 70-30 with RB Melvin Gordon, in the opinion of Cecil Lammey of 104.3 The Fan on Thursday, Aug. 4. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Our very own Cecil Lammey is all over this backfield split in training camp. On Thursday, he did note that on both days in full pads for the Broncos (two days total) there has been more of an emphasis on Gordon. At this time, Williams seems like he's getting drafted at his ceiling (high-end RB2) while Gordon might be more of a value (in the RB30-40 range). A 70-30 split in Williams' favor is different than the 50-50 split in carries the two had last season. In camp so far, Williams has been favored overall but it might be closer to 60-40 when all is said and done. Stay tuned. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [PIT - QB Mitchell Trubisky meeting expectations?]( Source: The Athletic - Mark Kaboly Pittsburgh Steelers QB Mitchell Trubisky is 'on track' after a week of training camp, according to quarterbacks coach Mike Sullivan. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] In the course of one day, there have been 'Trubisky is struggling' stories followed by 'Trubisky is on track.' No matter how much of each story is true, we think everyone can agree that Trubisky is just keeping the seat warm until rookie first-round pick Kenny Pickett is ready to start. Pickett may not start until later in the season if/when the Steelers are out of playoff contention. With Trubisky starting, we don't have much faith the Steelers will be making a postseason run in 2022. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [PIT - WR Diontae Johnson gets two-year extension]() Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo Pittsburgh Steelers WR Diontae Johnson agreed to a two-year contract extension worth $36.7 million, according to a source Thursday, Aug. 4. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Johnson's 'hold in' worked, and he gets an extension that includes $27 million guaranteed. He will receive $19 million for the 2022 season. It's a shorter extension than we've seen for other receivers. However, if Johnson plays up to his potential then he'll be able to get another big money deal during his age-29 season. [] 8. [ARI - WR Marquise Brown hopes to be full-go by Monday]() Source: ESPN.com - Josh Weinfuss Arizona Cardinals WR Marquise Brown (hamstring) is easing his way into training camp but is hopeful to be a full-go by Monday, Aug. 8. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Cardinals want to be cautious with Brown. They made the move to acquire him from the Ravens earlier this offseason, and Brown is reunited with his college quarterback Kyler Murray. He's a speed guy, so hamstring injuries can be especially tricky to deal with. We'll see if he can get out there next week at full strength. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [LAC - TE Donald Parham on a tear](=) Source: The Athletic - Daniel Popper Los Angeles Chargers TE Donald Parham is having a 'great camp,' according to Daniel Popper of The Athletic. 'It is clear he will once again be a prominent piece in the Chargers' downfield passing attack,' Popper said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Parham is a player we've appreciated in dynasty formats for some time. He's working to earn playing time behind Chargers starting TE Gerald Everett. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [PHI - WR DeVonta Smith day-to-day]() Source: NFL.com Philadelphia Eagles WR DeVonta Smith (groin) did not participate in practice Thursday, Aug. 4, and is considered day-to-day because of a groin injury. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Smith's game is all about speed, so the Eagles will make sure his groin injury is healed properly before asking him to do more. Day-to-day means it's a minor injury but one worth monitoring as training camp rolls on. We like Smith in the WR30-35 range in fantasy drafts this year working as the team's no.2 receiver opposite of A.J. Brown. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [TEN - Kyle Philips working with ones]() Source: TitanInsider.com - Terry McCormick Tennessee Titans fifth-round pick WR Kyle Philips has received repetitions in the slot with the first-team offense. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The UCLA product has some savvy as a route-runner over the middle. He can work underneath routes, and Philips can do some crafty work to get open. The Titans' offense won't fill the air with footballs, but Philips could be a nice slot receiver for them in 2022 and beyond. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [GB - Romeo Doubs paid high compliment](=) Source: Locked On Packers - Peter Bukowski Green Bay Packers WR Romeo Doubs 'is still making some mental mistakes' but is making at least one 'wow play' in practice every day, according to teammate Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers went on to say that he has seen other Green Bay receivers produce regular 'wow plays' in his time with the team, but they are all in the top 10 in Packers' receiving history. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Doubs has had some good buzz around him over the offseason. A fourth-round pick out of Nevada, the rookie has the ability to make difficult catches seem routine. He's a fearless player with a nice size/speed/athleticism combination. We love Doubs in dynasty formats. This year, Doubs is competing for the no.5 spot on the depth chart at the wide receiver position. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [ARI - Trey McBride nursing a sore back]() Source: ESPN.com - Josh Weinfuss Arizona Cardinals TE Trey McBride (back) has been sidelined for the last couple of days of practice due to a sore back, according to head coach Kliff Kingsbury. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The rookie tight end was arguably the best in the class at his position. He's working his way into the offense behind Zach Ertz. We like McBride in dynasty formats, but in redraft leagues, you'll have to wait for him to get more playing time. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [BUF - WR Marquez Stevenson to miss multiple weeks]() Source: The Athletic - Joe Buscaglia Buffalo Bills WR Marquez Stevenson (foot) will be sidelined for 'weeks' with a foot injury, according to head coach Sean McDermott. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Stevenson was trying to make the team as a depth receiver. However, camp reports indicated he was moving to secure a spot as the primary return man on special teams. Isaiah McKenzie, Khalil Shakir, and Tavon Austin will continue battling for the returner job in training camp.
