[KC - Skyy Moore back at practice]( Source: NFL.com Kansas City Chiefs WR Skyy Moore (hip) returned to practice on Wednesday, Aug. 3. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Good news for the rookie here. We certainly are interested in the quick receiver in dynasty formats. If healthy, there's a chance he earns a spot in the passing game and Moore could become a trusted target of QB Patrick Mahomes. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [SF - Jimmy Garoppolo cleared to practice](=) Source: 49ersWebZone.com - David Bonilla San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo (shoulder) has been cleared to practice without restrictions, per general manager John Lynch on Tuesday, Aug. 2. However, the two sides agreed Garoppolo will work on the side field at practice as the Niners continue to look for a trade partner. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Everything is just in a holding pattern with Garoppolo. The 49ers are moving forward with QB Trey Lance as their starter, and we'll see if any team out there gives them enough for Garoppolo in trade. Until then, Garoppolo will be practicing...but off to the side. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [NFL - WR Odell Beckham ahead of schedule](=) Source: Pro Football Focus - Doug Kyed Free-agent WR Odell Beckham Jr. (knee is ahead of schedule in his rehab from a torn anterior cruciate ligament, per a source on Wednesday, Aug. 3. The same source also noted that Beckham is 'strong -- real strong' and 'bigger than I've seen him ever.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Beckham should be ready to play before the end of the regular season. A team could sign him now and place him on the PUP list to begin the season to get an extra roster spot while he recovers. The Rams are a strong candidate to bring Beckham back if Van Jefferson's latest knee issue threatens his availability this season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [CLE - WR Amari Cooper returns to practice](=) Source: 92.3 The Fan - Daryl Ruiter Cleveland Browns WR Amari Cooper (ankle) returned to practice on Wednesday, Aug. 3. Cooper was absent on Tuesday due to a minor ankle injury. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Browns are taking it easy on their top receiver as he has this minor ankle injury. Cooper is in line to be the no.1 target in the Browns' passing game, but he'll be catching passes from QB Jacoby Brissett to begin the regular season. Expect his production to increase when QB Deshaun Watson comes back from his suspension later in the year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [CLE - Indefinite suspension for QB Deshaun Watson?]() Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson's six-game suspension has been appealed by the NFL, and the league will be looking for an indefinite suspension that would last at least one year, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The league has announced it will appeal the decision handed down for six games. We hopefully will have clarity soon on what exactly the league will be asking for. Stay tuned as this seems far from over. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [PIT - Mitch Trubisky struggling]( Source: The Athletic - Mark Kaboly Pittsburgh Steelers QB Mitchell Trubisky 'really hasn't been sharp' and has 'struggled' in training camp, per The Athletic's Mark Kaboly. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Is anybody surprised by this? Trubisky has been a bust to this point in his career, but the former no.2 overall pick (infamously taken ahead of Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson) gets another chance with a new team. The Steelers have 2022 first-round pick, Kenny Pickett, as their future quarterback, but we should see Trubisky open the season as the starter with Mason Rudolph as his backup. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [JAX - RB Travis Etienne sits out with illness](=) Source: NFL.com - Kevin Patra Jacksonville Jaguars RB Travis Etienne (illness) did not practice on Tuesday, Aug. 2, due to an unspecified illness. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This doesn't sound serious, and we could see Etienne back on the field in the near future. The 2021 first-round pick missed all of his rookie season, but now he's back and looks to work in tandem with James Robinson (when healthy). We like Etienne in the RB15-25 range. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [HOU - Houston makes 4 moves]() Source: Pro Football Network - Aaron Wilson Free-agent WR Chester Rogers officially signed an undisclosed contract with the Houston Texans on Wednesday, Aug. 3. In addition, the Texans signed LS Harrison Elliott, waived WR Davion Davis (hamstring) with an injury designation and activated DB Tristin McCollum from the active/physically unable to perform list. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Rogers is a quick receiver who can live on underneath routes. He could be a nice no.3 receiver for the Texans. Rogers will compete with guys like Chris Conley and Chris Moore to establish a pecking order behind Brandin Cooks and Nico Collins. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [GB - Two not practicing Wednesday](=) Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky Green Bay Packers RB Patrick Taylor (groin) and WR Osirus Mitchell (quadriceps) are not practicing on Wednesday, Aug. 3, due to unspecified injuries. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Taylor is in a battle with Kylin Hill and Tyler Goodson to win the #3 running back job. This injury could hurt Taylor's chances. [CLE - Cleveland inks Daylen {NAME}]( Source: ClevelandBrowns.com Free-agent WR Daylen {NAME} signed an undisclosed contract with the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday, Aug. 3. In addition, S Nate Meadors was waived. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] {NAME}, undrafted out of Michigan this year, got a chance with the Giants earlier this offseason. Now, he gets another chance to impress with a new team. He's a big-bodied receiver who can track the ball down the field. If you play in a crazy deep dynasty format, keep an eye on him. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [TEN - Malik Willis learning quickly]( Source: TennesseeTitans.com - Jim Wyatt Tennessee Titans QB Malik Willis said he's 'light years ahead of where he was' in minicamps in May. 'That's everything regarding my job description - operating the huddle, operating the line of scrimmage, all the plays and being comfortable with them,' Willis said. 'All of the above. I've learned the importance of timing, and how it affects the whole play.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Willis is an exciting rookie who is working as a developmental prospect for the Titans this year. He's athletic and has a huge arm - we mean rocket arm - but this season he's backing up veteran QB Ryan Tannehill. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [NE - Tyquan Thornton shining in camp](=) Source: Pro Football Focus - Doug Kyed New England Patriots WR Tyquan Thornton has been a standout in training camp thus far, according to Pro Football Focus' Doug Kyed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Thornton should be a situational deep threat at the very least and could take snaps away from Kendrick Bourne or Jakobi Meyers - whoever is the second outside receiver with DeVante Parker having a great camp. For fantasy purposes there could be five wide receivers involved for New England on a weekly basis. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [ATL - ILB Deion Jones making progress]() Source: AtlantaFalcons.com - Scott Bair Atlanta Falcons LB Deion Jones (shoulder) is 'trending in the right direction' while rehabbing from an offseason shoulder procedure, head coach Arthur Smith said on Wednesday, Aug. 3. Smith declined to give a timetable for Jones' return to practice, though. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Falcons are trying to trade Jones if anyone will take on his 9.6 million dollar salary. The team is likely to move on from Jones no later than next year and they drafted Troy Andersen in the second round and signed Rashaan Evans and Nick Kwiatkowski, so it's possible that Jones isn't even a starter this year. They seem to be content to keep him if they can't find a trade because the cap savings will be minimal and there aren't signs that he'll be a distraction if he's still on the team. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [BAL - WR Devin Duvernay still sidelined](=) Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley Baltimore Ravens WR Devin Duvernay (thigh) missed his third straight practice on Wednesday, Aug. 3, due to a thigh bruise. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Duvernay is a speedy receiver and a Pro Bowl-level return man. He will compete with guys like James Proche and Tylan Wallace to compete behind no.1 receiver Rashod Bateman. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [ARI - D.J. Humphries practicing Wednesday]( Source: PHNX Sports - Bo Brack Arizona Cardinals OT D.J. Humphries took the practice field for the first time in training camp on Wednesday, Aug. 3. Humphries recently inked a three-year, $66.8 million contract extension. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Humphries has been a hit since the Cardinals took him in the first round in 2015. His 22+ million a year compensation is a sign that wide receiver isn't the only position that is going north of 20 million a year for any average or better starter. The Cardinals almost had center Rodney Hudson retire this offseason, but his return and this news creates short and long-term promise for the line. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [DET - WR Quintez Cephus should be back soon]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Updating previous reports, Detroit Lions WR Quintez Cephus (leg) is only expected to miss a short period of time, according to head coach Dan Campbell. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The injury doesn't seem major, but the Lions did go out and sign Maurice Alexander (USFL) to get another body at the position. We'll see what Cephus can do when he gets back on the field. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 17. [NYJ - Jets give injury updates on 3 players]( Source: NewYorkJets.com - Eric Allen New York Jets RB Ty Johnson (hamstring) is day-to-day, K Greg Zuerlein (toe) is expected to return to practice on Saturday, Aug. 6, and TE Jeremy Ruckert (foot) may get cleared to practice on Wednesday, Aug. 3, head coach Robert Saleh said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Johnson, a sixth-round pick of the Lions in 2019, has some experience and there are some in super deep dynasty who monitor his progress. With the Jets, Johnson is battling for the no.4 spot on the depth chart this season. They have Breece Hall and Michael Carter to split duties in the backfield, and veteran Tevin Coleman could win the no.3 job. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family.
