[DEN - WR Tim Patrick Suffers ACL Tear]() Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper Denver Broncos WR Tim Patrick (leg) was taken off the practice field on a cart after suffering a right leg injury Tuesday, Aug. 2. Tests later revealed he tore his ACL and he's out for the season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The injury was non-contact and players crowded around him when he was being taken off. Tests revealed a torn ACL and he's out for the season. K.J. Hamler just came off the PUP list, and he would be first in line to get in on three-wide sets. Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton would also get bumps in target expectations. It's a tough break for a promising young WR. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [KC - Skyy Moore suffered hip injury](=) Source: Chiefs Digest - Nick Jacobs Kansas City Chiefs WR Skyy Moore (hip) suffered a hip injury during practice Tuesday, Aug. 2. It is unclear how severe the injury is. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Moore said he was "okay" on his Instagram and left the field on his own power, but we can't be sure of anything until the team updates his status. If he's out for a significant amount of time, it will hurt the rookie's chances of being a big part of the offense this year and put more on Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Juju Smith-Schuster, and Mecole Hardman. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [MIA - NFL docks two draft picks from Miami]() Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero The Miami Dolphins forfeited their first-round selection in the 2023 NFL draft and their third-round selection in the 2024 NFL draft for tampering violations handed down by the NFL on Tuesday, Aug. 2. Dolphins owner Stephen Ross also was suspended until Oct. 17 due to the violations. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The NFL did not really address the tanking allegations from Brian Flores, only saying something along the lines of accounts differed, but this is confirmation that owner Stephen Ross crossed multiple lines in his pursuit of a different head coach and quarterback. Ownership matters, and this debacle probably doesn't create a feeling of security for new head coach Mike McDaniel or quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [CLE - No concern about WR Amari Cooper's ankle]() Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Chris Easterling Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns WR Amari Cooper (ankle) missed practice Tuesday, Aug. 2, but is expected to return to practice 'pretty soon,' according to head coach Kevin Stefanski. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Good news for the Browns and the veteran receiver here. Cooper is the lead receiver for his new team, and the Browns should feature him early and often. We like Cooper in the WR18-25 range in PPR formats. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [MIN - TE Irv Smith goes under the knife]() Source: Minneapolis Star Tribune - Ben Goessling Updating a previous report, Minnesota Vikings TE Irv Smith (thumb) underwent surgery on his injured thumb Tuesday, Aug. 2. Smith is expected to be recovered in time for the season opener. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The injury shouldn't affect him to begin the season, but it can't help to miss time as the Vikings install a new offense. Adam Theilen's red zone outlook is fully intact with Smith sitting out. [HOU - Pharaoh Brown starting for Houston?]() Source: Pro Football Network - Aaron Wilson Houston Texans TE Pharaoh Brown is considered the team's starter over Brevin Jordan at tight end, according to recent comments from head coach Lovie Smith.'He's our starting tight end and he's a wide tight end. He can block, big body. You see him make catches every day. We'll have a big role for him,' Smith said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jordan is still the better fantasy commodity. Losing snaps to Brown might lower his ceiling to open the season, but if Jordan continues to display natural chemistry with fellow 2021 draft pick Davis Mills, his role in the passing game will grow and make him fantasy relevant. Jordan should remain on your fantasy radar. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [ARI - WR Marquise Brown removed from NFI list](=) Source: AZCardinals.com Arizona Cardinals WR Marquise Brown (hamstring) was removed from the Non-Football Injury List on Tuesday, Aug. 2. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This is good news for the Cardinals, who will have Brown as their #1 receiver while DeAndre Hopkins is serving a six-game suspension to open the season. Kliff Kingsbury said it was an ankle injury, so while hamstring (which is more worrisome for a speed receiver) was being reported, it might not be the issue that kept Brown sidelined. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [DET - Greg Bell sidelined]( Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett Detroit Lions RB Greg Bell (hip, back) will be 'down for a little bit' after suffering hip and back injuries during practice last week, according to head coach Dan Campbell. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Bell was undrafted out of San Diego State this year. He's a player to watch due to his downhill no-nonsense style. Fantasy GMs in super deep dynasty formats should be monitoring his pro career. Bell was unlikely to make the team, but making the practice squad should be within his reach if healthy. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [DET - WR Quintez Cephus hurt Tuesday]( Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett Detroit Lions WR Quintez Cephus (leg) suffered an apparent left leg injury during practice Tuesday, Aug. 2. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Cephus is trying to make the 53-man roster as a no.5 receiver for the Lions. We'll know more about this injury when more information is revealed. His injury opens the door for guys like Kalif Raymond and Trinity Benson on the depth chart. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [NYG - TE Ricky Seals-Jones still out]() Source: New York Daily News - Pat Leonard New York Giants TE Ricky Seals-Jones (undisclosed) remains out of practice Tuesday, Aug. 2. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fourth-round pick Daniel Bellinger is the likely starter after having a great spring. Seals-Jones is off of our fantasy radar until he gives us a reason to pay attention. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family.
