[CLE - QB Deshaun Watson suspended six games](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson is expected to be suspended six games as parties were informed by Judge Sue Robinson Monday, Aug. 1. He would be eligible to play Oct. 23 against the Baltimore Ravens. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This decision was a shorter-than-expected suspension. The NFLPA and Watson announced Sunday that they would not appeal the decision. However, Roger Goodell and the league still can appeal this decision (and they have three days to do so). There are some out there who think the NFL wants an indefinite suspension of at least a year. Stay tuned. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [NO - RB Alvin Kamara case pushed back]( Source: CBS 8 News - David Charns New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara's battery case was delayed another 60 days Monday, Aug. 1, after the lawyers for all four men involved in the case asked for more time to review the case. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The NFL is waiting for the legal process to work out before deciding on a potential suspension for Kamara. There is a chance Kamara doesn't see any league discipline until 2023. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [LAR - WR Allen Robinson standing out at camp]( Source: The Orange County Register - Gilbert Manzano Los Angeles Rams WR Allen Robinson has been one of the biggest standouts at training camp thus far, Gilbert Manzano of the Orange County Register wrote on Saturday, July 30. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That sounds about right. Robinson gets to play with the best quarterback he's ever caught passes from this season with Matthew Stafford. Robinson will be the team's no.2 target behind only WR Cooper Kupp. He's a WR2 with upside for Fantasy GMs in any format. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [DEN - KJ Hamler activated](=) Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis Denver Broncos WR KJ Hamler (knee, hip) was activated from the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list Monday, Aug. 1. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hamler is a speed player who has yet to do much in the pros. He's an exciting player who drew comparisons to Tyreek Hill when he came out of Penn State a few years ago. Hamler is no.4 on the depth chart, but the Broncos should have a package of plays to let QB Russell Wilson uncork some deep passes bound for Hamler. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [DAL - WR James Washington injury update]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys WR James Washington (foot) was carted off the field Monday, Aug. 1, after suffering an injury the team fears is a Jones fracture on his right foot. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] A Jones fracture could be near season-ending for the veteran receiver. Expect the Cowboys to scour the free agent heap of receivers to look for talent. Perhaps signing someone like Will Fuller or T.Y. Hilton is in their future. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [KC - QB Patrick Mahomes has minor injury]( Source: NFL Network - James Palmer Updating a previous report, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (foot) sustained a foot injury after being stepped on at practice on Monday Aug. 1, leading to his early exit. Head coach Andy Reid said he isn't concerned. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Great news here. Anytime a player gets stepped on, a bad injury is a possibility. This sounds minor, but we're expecting the team to monitor Mahomes closely as he deals with this. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [TB - Still no practice for WR Chris Godwin]() Source: The Athletic - Greg Auman Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (knee) has yet to practice with the team as of Monday, Aug. 1, despite avoiding the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's good news that Godwin did not begin camp on the PUP list, but it does not guarantee he will be ready for the start of the regular season. The Buccaneers could be leaning more on WRs Mike Evans and Russell Gage at the start of the year while Godwin is eased into action. The Buccaneers are still in a Super Bowl window with QB Tom Brady, so there's no need to rush a veteran like Godwin back too soon. [ARI - QB Kyler Murray to miss at least a few days]() Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, Aug. 1, and will be away from the team for a minimum of five days, according to head coach Kliff Kingsbury. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Murray should miss about a week, then he should be able to get back out there for the Cardinals. In the meantime, Colt McCoy and Trace McSorley will get more reps with Murray away from the facility. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [LVR - Two Raiders miss practice again]( Source: NFL Network - James Palmer Las Vegas Raiders DE Chandler Jones (undisclosed) and TE Darren Waller (undisclosed) were both absent from practice on Monday, Aug. 1. This is the second straight missed practice for Waller and the fourth for Jones. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Waller is out for undisclosed reasons, and we think the Raiders could tear up his contract and get him a new deal. At this time, Waller is no.17 in terms of annual average salary at the tight end position. He is under contract through 2023, but the Raiders should do right by him. Waller's contract may not be due to his contract, but it's something his agent should be working on with the team. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [NYJ - RB Tevin Coleman ready to practice]() Source: Pro Football Network - Aaron Wilson New York Jets RB Tevin Coleman (illness) passed his physical Monday, Aug. 1, and has been activated from the Active/Non-Football Illness list. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Coleman knows the system, and he's competing to be a speed back on the roster behind rookie Breece Hall and Michael Carter. There's not much there for him from a fantasy perspective if he does make the team. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [PIT - RB Najee Harris leaves early Monday]() Source: Pro Football Network - Adam H. Beasley Pittsburgh Steelers RB Najee Harris (foot) left practice early Monday, Aug. 1, after having his foot stepped on during drills. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Steelers must be incredibly cautious here. Harris is the centerpiece of their offense, and if healthy he could get the largest workload of any running back in the league. Head coach Mike Tomlin said the injury is not considered serious. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [LAR - WR Van Jefferson to miss multiple weeks]() Source: ESPN.com - Sarah Barshop Los Angeles Rams WR Van Jefferson (knee) is scheduled to undergo surgery on his injured knee and will be sidelined for multiple weeks, according to head coach Sean McVay. Jefferson's status for Week 1 is uncertain. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [DET - RB Justin Jackson catches on with Detroit]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Free-agent RB Justin Jackson (Chargers) signed an undisclosed contract with the Detroit Lions on Monday, Aug. 1. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jackson has a three-down skill set, and that's going to help him make his case to make the Lions' 53-man roster. He's going to compete to be the no.3 back behind starter D'Andre Swift and primary backup Jamaal Williams. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family.
