[SEA - ILB Jordyn Brooks ready to lead defense](#16) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [NO - WR Michael Thomas looks fluid](=) Source: ESPN.com - Mike Triplett Updating previous reports, New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas (ankle) looked fluid and had no noticeable braces or wrapping on his left ankle Wednesday, July 27. Thomas is confident that he'll return to the player he was before injuring the ankle in Week 1 of 2020. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Thomas's ADP will only rise. He himself pointed out that he was productive in 2020 while playing with the ankle injury that was finally operated on in June and then again in November. Jameis Winston is a big winner here, and Thomas's presence could also help Chris Olave get open downfield. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [LAR - WR Allen Robinson impressing staff]( Source: The Athletic - Robert Mays Los Angeles Rams WR Allen Robinson has impressed the coaching staff with his approach and his route tree, according to Robert Mays of The Athletic, and Mays believes a 'potential monster year' is on tap for Robinson. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] There is no doubt that Robinson could be in for a monster season. He's playing with the best quarterback of his career in Matthew Stafford, and his teammate WR Cooper Kupp is going to take a lot of defensive attention. We like Robinson as a WR2 with upside for Fantasy GMs this season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [TB - Ryan Jensen carted off]() Source: Tampa Bay Times - Rick Stroud Tampa Bay Buccaneers C Ryan Jensen (leg) was carted off the field Thursday, July 28, with a left leg injury. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jensen is a solid center and the team would certainly miss him. 2021 third-round pick Robert Hainsey would be the next man up. There is time for the Bucs to swing a deal for a veteran if Jensen is out long-term and Hainsey isn't inspiring confidence. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [NE - New England reviving 2 TE sets?]() Source: Boston Herald - Andrew Callahan The New England Patriots may be looking to run more two tight end sets with TEs Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry, according to Andrew Callahan of The Boston Herald on Thursday, July 28. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This would probably take one of Jakobi Meyers and Kendrick Bourne off of the field since DeVante Parker is an outside receiver. The Patriots pass offense could be improved this year, but it also might only yield viable fantasy players in best ball leagues because of a wide target tree and inconsistent usage. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [WAS - RB Antonio Gibson held out Wednesday]() Source: ESPN.com - John Keim Washington Commanders RB Antonio Gibson (hamstring) did not participate in practice Wednesday, July 27, because of a hamstring injury. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] A hamstring injury early in camp is not a big deal, and the Commanders are being cautious with their star back. Head coach Ron Rivera said Gibson's absence was precautionary and that his injury is considered minor. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [BAL - QB Lamar Jackson showing pinpoint accuracy]( Source: BaltimoreRavens.com - Clifton Brown Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson nailed a back-shoulder pass to WR Devin Duvernay in practice Wednesday, July 27, that drew rave reviews. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jackson is betting on himself as he is in the final contract of his rookie deal. He spent this offseason bulking up and working on his passing skills. If he plays better than ever as a passer, Jackson could be in line for the huge contract he's wanting from the Ravens. Even with improved skill as a passer, expect the Ravens offense to still thrive through the rushing attack - including Jackson's skill as a runner. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [MIN - QB Kellen Mond shares reps]( Source: St. Paul Pioneer Press - Chris Tomasson Minnesota Vikings QB Kellen Mond and QB Sean Mannion split reps with the second-team offense during practice Wednesday, July 27. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Mond was overlooked by the previous staff, but he's athletic and has good arm strength. Perhaps new head coach Kevin O'Connell thinks there's something to work with there. Mond and Mannion are competing to be the primary backup to Kirk Cousins in 2022. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [TEN - No brace for WR Robert Woods]() Source: TennesseeTitans.com - Jim Wyatt Tennessee Titans WR Robert Woods told reporters Thursday, July 28, that he has not worn a brace on his surgically repaired knee since the start of offseason work. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Good news for Woods here. Reports indicate he's established good chemistry with QB Ryan Tannehill, and Woods should be on track for Week 1 of the regular season. Even though the Titans will run the ball early and often, their no.1 target when they go to the air should be Woods. From a fantasy perspective, we like Woods in the WR35-40 range as a flex option in 2022. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- FOOTBALLGUYS PICKS YOUR QUEST FOR $500K AWAITS - The 2022 FOOTBALLGUYS PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP is filling up fast.\ The $500,000 grand prize and the $4,395,750 total prize pool are fully guaranteed. [BUF - WR Isaiah McKenzie delivering]( Source: The Athletic - Joe Buscaglia Buffalo Bills WR Isaiah McKenzie has 'taken a definitive step up' in his performance, according to Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic, and Buscaglia believes McKenzie could beat out WR Jamison Crowder for the starting slot receiver role. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] McKenzie is a gadget player, but he could earn a larger role with a strong performance in camp and the preseason. Crowder is his main competition for the slot position, a spot vacated by Cole Beasley. If McKenzie won the slot job in Buffalo that would be worthy of 'what the heck' flex consideration. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [DAL - WR James Washington on the field](=) Source: The Athletic - Jon Machota Dallas Cowboys WR James Washington (foot) participated in team drills Wednesday, July 27, after missing OTAs and minicamp with a left foot injury. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Washington, rookie third-round pick Jalen Tolbert, and Noah Brown, who has been with the team since 2017, will compete to be the third receiver, which probably means opening day starter since Michael Gallup isn't a sure thing to be ready to start the season coming off of January 2 ACL surgery. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [SEA - QB Geno Smith works with starters]() Source: The Tacoma News Tribune - Gregg Bell Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith worked with the first-team offense to begin the first day of training camp Wednesday, July 27. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Smith is the starter at the beginning of training camp. We'll see if backup QB Drew Lock can push him for the starting job and perhaps even win the job. No matter who is under center between these two veterans, it's not a great option for the Seattle offense. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [DAL - KaVontae Turpin signing with Dallas]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Free-agent WR KaVontae Turpin (TCU) is signing a deal with the Dallas Cowboys, according to a source Thursday, July 28. Financial terms of the contract were not immediately disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Turpin was a standout player in the USFL, winning league MVP in 2022. Undrafted out of TCU in 2019, Turpin spent time in the Fan Controlled Football League and The Spring League before getting drafted by the New Jersey Generals in the 13th round. He was a standout for the Generals in 2022, compiling 921 all-purpose yards. Turpin led the league with 540 receiving yards, and he made plays as a return man as well. We will monitor him in super deep dynasty formats. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [KC - DE Carlos Dunlap signing with Chiefs]() Source: Drew Rosenhaus Free-agent DE Carlos Dunlap (Seahawks) is signing a one-year deal worth up to $8 million with the Kansas City Chiefs, according to a source Thursday, July 28. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] First-round pick George Karlaftis won't have as big an opportunity for a rookie year breakout in IDP leagues, but he'll still get ample snaps to show what he can do as the third edge rusher at worst. Dunlap can still play and he will help a team in a Super Bowl window. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [DET - Greg Bell exited practice with injury](=) Source: LionsWire - Jeff Risdon Detroit Lions RB Greg Bell (leg) was forced to exit training camp practice Thursday, July 28, with what appeared to be a hamstring injury, according to Jeff Risdon of Lions Wire. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Bell signed this spring as an undrafted free agent out of San Diego State. He's a compact back with good burst, but he is a long shot for the final roster. Bell will be angling for a spot on the practice squad when healthy. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [CIN - RB Jacques Patrick back with Cincinnati]() Source: Pro Football Network - Aaron Wilson Free-agent RB Jacques Patrick (Ravens) signed an undisclosed contract with the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday, July 28. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Undrafted out of Florida State in 2019, Patrick has bounced around the NFL for the last few years. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Vipers of the XFL back in 2020, but most recently saw the field for the 49ers in 2021 - getting a couple of carries and playing several special teams snaps in two games. With RB Elijah Holyfield (knee) going to IR, the Bengals decided to bring back Patrick for his second stint with the team. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [SEA - ILB Jordyn Brooks ready to lead defense]() Source: The Seattle Times - Bob Condotta Seattle Seahawks LB Jordyn Brooks said he is ready to step into LB Bobby Wagner's role and 'man the middle' of the Seattle defense. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] IDP players should take note of Brooks increased role, but offensive fantasy players should too, as he will have a target on his back in coverage. The Broncos running backs and wide receivers will face him in Week 1. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks.
