[TB - Rob Gronkowski's girlfriend thinks he'll play again](=) Source: Sports Illustrated - Andrew Holleran Retired TE [Rob Gronkowski](=)'s girlfriend, Camille Kostek, believes he will play again. 'I am a honest lady, and honestly, I don't feel like this one is the forever one,' Kostek: 'So, I think maybe he'll come back again. I feel like him and Tom are just having fun, like, 'retired, not retired, retired, not retired.'' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Yes. It's his girlfriend. No, this isn't hard-hitting or even soft-hitting news. But it's something. Let's just say if Gronkowski unretires during the season or playoffs, none of us can say we weren't warned. Depending on how deep your tight end premium dynasty league is, you might want to hold onto him. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [CLE - QB Deshaun Watson ruling not expected this week](=) Source: CBS Sports HQ - Josina Anderson Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson's suspension ruling is not expected to come this week, according to CBS Sports' Josina Anderson on Tuesday, July 19. Reports earlier in the day suggested Watson could receive a ban of anywhere from two to eight games. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Friday news dumps are the norm for anything the league wants to pass with minimal coverage, so many had this Friday as the likely date for resolution, but this may push the resolution closer to, or even beyond the July 26 veteran camp report date for Cleveland. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [TB - Rob Gronkowski reiterates desire to stay retired]() Source: Good Morning America Retired TE [Rob Gronkowski](=) once again stated his desire to remain retired in an interview with 'Good Morning America' published on Wednesday, July 20. 'I won't go back to football,' Gronkowski said. 'I'm all set.' Gronk's girlfriend and agent recently stated they thought he would come out of retirement to play again, but Gronkowski clearly disagrees. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] There have been too many reports in conflict with the idea that Gronkowski is retired for good to take his word at face value. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [SF - RB Jeff Wilson the favorite for No. 2 RB]( Source: The Athletic - Matt Barrows San Francisco 49ers RB Jeff Wilson Jr. is the favorite over RBs Trey Sermon and Tyrion Davis-Price to be the No. 2 running back behind projected starter Elijah Mitchell, according to The Athletic's Matt Barrows. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Wilson has always been a great fit in the 49ers running game, and he is trusted in key goal line situations. Davis-Price's main job this summer could be to displace Sermon as the #3, with Wilson having the most value in the case of another Mitchell injury after he missed time on three occasions last year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [CAR - QB Baker Mayfield's incentives cover pay cut]( Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates Carolina Panthers QB Baker Mayfield has $3.5 million in incentives in his contract, which would make up the pay cut he agreed to as part of the Cleveland Browns trade. If Mayfield plays 75 percent of the snaps during the regular season he'll make $250,000 if the Panthers win 10 games, $500,000 if they notch a divisional round win, $500,000 for an NFC Championship Game win, and $750,000 for a Super Bowl win. Also, Mayfield can make $300,000 if he plays 75 percent of snaps and Carolina finishes top five in the NFC or top 10 in the NFL in total offense, and another $300,000 if the team ranks top five in the NFC or top 10 in the NFL in points scored. Adding to all that, Mayfield gets $300,000 if he finishes in the top five in the NFC or top 10 in the NFL in completion percentage (minimum 224 attempts), and an additional $500,000 should he make the Pro Bowl. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That Mayfield took a pay cut is what is most notable here, as it shows he accepted how far his star had fallen. More than the incentives he could earn, Mayfield is playing for his next contract, which won't pay him anywhere near the 15+ million he'll get from the Browns (10.5 million) and Panthers (~5 million) this year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [CAR - Panthers' COO resigns]() Source: The Athletic - Joseph Person Carolina Panthers COO Mark Hart has resigned, according to a source on Tuesday, July 19. Hart's resignation comes after the resignation of former CEO Nick Kelly in May. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It is unknown whether this is related to the mess around Panthers owner David Tepper halting the new team headquarters in Rock Hill, with one of his companies declaring bankruptcy and resulting lawsuit where York County sued the city of Rock Hill and companies linked to Tepper. [CLE - Browns discussed Jimmy Garoppolo trade](=) Source: Pro Football Focus - Doug Kyed The Cleveland Browns had discussions about trading for San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo earlier this offseason, per source. The Browns possibly trading for Garoppolo will depend upon the length of Deshaun Watson's suspension if he receives one, the 49ers' asking price and the status of Garoppolo's recovery. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The 49ers are probably resigned to waiting for another team to have a big need at quarterback to be able to move Garoppolo before the season starts. We'll be monitoring whether the Browns are that team. The team has obviously evaluated Garoppolo and should prefer him to Jacoby Brissett if Watson misses significant time. The Browns have divisional games against all three opponents and very winnable games against Atlanta, Carolina, and the Jets in their first eight contests. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [LVR - Favorites for Raiders' No. 3 WR]( Source: The Athletic - Vic Tafur and Tashan Reed Las Vegas Raiders WRs Mack Hollins and Keelan Cole are the favorites to land the No. 3 wide receiver role over WRs Demarcus Robinson and Tyron Johnson, per Vic Tafur and Tashan Reed of The Athletic. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Jets expected a lot more from Cole when they signed him to a one-year, $5.5 million deal last year. His price dropped to 1.278 million for the Raiders, with only $150,000 guaranteed. The team guaranteed $700,000 of Hollins pay, so they appear to value him more, but see both players as role players at best. This pass offense will run through Davante Adams, Darren Waller, and Hunter Renfrow, with Renfrow possibly being closer to Adams and Waller than early ADP indicates. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [LVR - TE Darren Waller reports to camp](=) Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler Las Vegas Raiders TE Darren Waller reported to training camp on Wednesday, July 20, according to sources. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Waller is very underpaid on his four-year, $30 million deal signed in 2019. Holdouts are not really a starter under the new CBA, so he'll hope to get a raise before the season starts, but play under current contract terms of a 6.25 million salary if nothing gets done. The Raiders gave Hunter Renfrow a two-year, $32 million extension this offseason. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [DET - WR Amon-Ra St. Brown on verge of history]( Source: DetroitLions.com - Tim Twentyman Detroit Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown needs eight catches in Week 1 of the 2022 NFL campaign to become the fifth player in NFL history to record at least eight catches in seven straight games. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] St. Brown is more central to the Lions offense than his ADP indicates. He was a fantasy WR1 down the stretch last year, and while no one expects that this year, he is being drafted as a fantasy WR3. New offensive coordinator Ben Johnson was cited by St. Brown as the main reason he was able to break out late last year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [NYG - Daniel Bellinger the favorite for No. 1 TE?]( Source: GiantsWire - Dan Benton New York Giants TE Daniel Bellinger 'seems to be the starting favorite early on,' Dan Benton of Giants Wire writes. The fourth-round pick is expected to compete with free-agent acquisition and TE Ricky Seals-Jones. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Bellinger is unlikely to have redraft value, but this should get him firmly on the radar in dynasty leagues, especially in ones with tight end premium scoring. Seals-Jones had some sleeper appeal as a former wide receiver who can make highlight reel plays, but Bellinger appears to be a major obstacle to Seals-Jones realizing his potential as a passing game weapon.
