[NFL - RB Adrian Peterson hopes to play in 2022](#5) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [CAR - Carolina to have open competition at QB](=) Source: New York Post - Jenna Lemoncelli Carolina Panthers QBs Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold will take part in an open competition for the starting job, general manager Scott Fitterer said on Tuesday, July 12. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] They keep saying that and promoting the fact they are not getting rid of Sam Darnold. However, with the trade for Mayfield, we can't imagine him not starting for the Panthers in Week 1. We'll see this competition shake out in training camp and the preseason, but we are putting our chips on Mayfield as the top guy. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [SF - QB Jimmy Garoppolo throwing](=) Source: The Athletic - Matt Barrows San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo (shoulder) has been throwing for two or three weeks. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Garoppolo has been staying away from the 49ers facility while he's been recovering. Now that he's been throwing, the trade market for his services could start heating up. There's also talk that the 49ers could just keep him around as a high-priced backup to starter Trey Lance. It seemed like Garoppolo was as good as gone after the season last year, but there is a possibility that he stays as veteran insurance for a team who could push for another deep run in the postseason. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [TB - Scotty Miller on the bubble?]() Source: The Athletic - Greg Auman Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Scotty Miller isn't a lock to make the roster, according to The Athletic's Greg Auman. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Buccaneers have a wide receiver room that is jam-packed with talent. With the addition of WR Russell Gage, it pushes guys like Miller further down the depth chart. We should see WR Chris Godwin ready for the start (the team is hopeful he will be ready), and that further clouds the future of guys further down the roster like Miller or Tyler Johnson. [NFL - Le'Veon Bell says he won't play in 2022](=) Source: NFL.com - Grant Gordon Free-agent RB Le'Veon Bell (Buccaneers) said on Tuesday, July 12, that he won't play in 2022 in order to focus on boxing. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Bell also said he thought about making the move to boxing last year. His best days behind him, Bell is now trying to figure things out after football. He's getting ready with a bout against Adrian Peterson. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [NFL - RB Adrian Peterson hopes to play in 2022](=) Source: NFL.com - Grant Gordon Free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Seahawks) hopes to play again in 2022, he said in a recent press conference for an upcoming boxing match with fellow free-agent RB, Le'Veon Bell. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Peterson is taking a different approach from Bell. While Bell says he's done with football, Peterson still is putting it out there that he wants to play. We'll see if a team gets running back needy with training camp (and potential injuries) coming up.
