[CHI - New England ships N'Keal Harry to Chicago]() Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo New England Patriots WR N'Keal Harry was traded to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a 2024 seventh-round draft pick Tuesday, July 12. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] No surprise here. The former first-round pick has not played up to his potential in the pros, and his time with the Patriots was drawing to a close. There have been rumblings about the team moving him to tight end in order to build more interest. The Bears are taking a chance on him as a developmental guy. The team is not moving on from Sam Darnold at this time, and reports indicate he will actually get a chance to compete with Mayfield for the starting job. Add in rookie QB Matt Corral (plus PJ Walker still kicking around too), and you can see how there was no more room for Cheek on the roster. [CAR - No Talk of Extension for QB Mayfield]() Source: Myles Simmons - ProFootballTalk.com Myles Simmons, from Pro Football Talk, reports Carolina Panthers GM Scott Fitterer said the team and Baker Mayfield have yet to have any talks on a contract extension. In the trade with the Browns, it was determined that Cleveland would pay $10.5 million of his salary while the Panthers are on the hook for around $5 million this year. Mayfield will compete with Sam Darnold for the starting job, and he should win that job. We'll see if the Browns start talks sometime during the season, assuming Mayfield is the starter and plays well. [DAL - No imminent deal for TE Dalton Schultz]( Source: The Dallas Morning News - Michael Gehlken Dallas Cowboys TE Dalton Schultz hasn't spoken to the Cowboys about an extension in weeks, and no deal is imminent. The deadline to strike a deal is Friday, July 15. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Deals get done at deadlines, and sometimes it takes to the 11th hour in these franchise tag situations. The two sides have ramped up talks, but apparently, they have yet to get anywhere. With David Njoku resetting the tight end market with a contract that pays him $13.7 MM annually, Schultz may want to best that number.
