[] 1. [CAR - P.J. Walker in limbo](=) Source: ESPN.com - David Newton Carolina Panthers QB P.J. Walker's roster spot is in limbo after the team drafted QB Matt Corral and traded for QB Baker Mayfield. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Panthers won't keep four quarterbacks and they are unlikely to trade Sam Darnold, so Walker is as good as gone. Walker could be traded in a minor deal if a team doesn't like their backup quarterback situation once they see it in more detail in training camp. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [IND - DE Ben Banogu on the bubble](=) Source: ESPN.com - Mike Wells Indianapolis Colts DE Ben Banogu is on the roster bubble in training camp. Banogu, a second-round pick in 2019, has 19 tackles and 2.5 sacks in his career. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Colts have thrown a ton of picks at the defensive end position in recent years, but they also signed Yannick Ngakoue this offseason, so there could be a numbers problem if they want to keep everyone they have invested in. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [DAL - DT Trysten Hill on the bubble](=) Source: ESPN.com - Todd Archer Dallas Cowboys DT Trysten Hill, who is in the final year of his rookie deal, will battle DTs Neville Gallimore and Osa Odighizuwa for a spot in the 3-technique. If he has a good camp, he could become a trade candidate. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Cowboys have high hopes for Odighizuwa, who is a possible breakout player entering his second year. Hill was a second-round pick in 2019, and Gallimore a third-round pick in 2020, and the team spent a third on Odighizuwa last year. It looks like they finally have a hit in Odighizuwa, but the number of picks spent at the position is probably a sign of a misfire on at least one of them. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [NO - OLB Zack Baun needs to deliver](=) Source: ESPN.com - Mike Triplett New Orleans Saints LB Zack Baun needs to earn a bigger role on defense or a major special team role to make the team. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Baun was a strong edge rusher at Wisconsin, but the Saints took him in the third round in 2020 and immediately started developing him as an inside linebacker. The fit hasn't been great, and the team has taken off-ball linebackers in each of the last two drafts, including Pete Werner in the second round last year. Baun could be a reclamation project as a rotational pass rusher elsewhere if the Saints decide to move on. [] 5. [ATL - ILB Deion Jones on the bubble?](=) Source: ESPN.com - Michael Rothstein Atlanta Falcons LB Deion Jones' place on the team is up in the air as training camp beckons. He would have a $19 million dead cap hit if released, but the team is already dealing with $63 million in dead cap space. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Falcons certainly don't want to add more dead cap and would prefer to trade Jones, but he's not in their future plans. Second-round pick Troy Andersen and 2020 fourth-rounder Mykal Walker are the players on the rise at off-ball linebacker, with free agent pickup and former Tennessee first-round pick Rashaan Evans looking to redeem his value. Jones will probably be a Falcon this year because of a lack of trade value, but a release isn't totally out of the question if they like the progress of Andersen in his first camp. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [LAC - RB Joshua Kelley needs to stand out](=) Source: ESPN.com - Lindsey Thiry Los Angeles Chargers RB Joshua Kelley could be on the roster bubble in training camp and will battle RBs Larry Rountree and Isaiah Spiller for a spot in the backfield. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Kelley has been a disappointment since the Chargers took him in the fourth round two years ago. Between fumbles and inefficient running, the team has reasons for losing confidence in Kelley and taking Spiller. Spiller should be the backup to Austin Ekeler and have some best ball value even when Ekeler is healthy as a change of pace back who can give Ekeler some rest. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [TEN - RB Jordan Wilkins on outside looking in](=) Source: ESPN.com - Turron Davenport Tennessee Titans RB Jordan Wilkins is a long shot to make the team in training camp behind RBs Dontrell Hilliard, Hassan Haskins and Trenton Cannon. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Wilkins has been an efficient runner when he has gotten opportunities with the Colts, but he has had trouble staying healthy. Hilliard has passing down chops, Cannon has special teams value, and the Titans invested a fourth-round pick in Haskins, so at least you know if Wilkins makes the team, the Titans see something in him. If you think Derrick Henry is going to break down again this year, following this depth chart battle in camp takes on extra importance. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [DEN - Denver offense to cater to QB Russell Wilson]() Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler Denver Broncos QB Russell Wilson will likely be 'given ownership of the offense,' in the opinion of an AFC personnel evaluator.'I think you'll see a rejuvenated Russ (with the Broncos). They are tailoring things around him. He'll have more ownership of the offense and a good supporting cast,' the unnamed personnel evaluator told ESPN.com. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] You can't be too optimistic about what Wilson and his targets will do in an offense that doesn't require him to swim upstream against a run-first philosophy. Wilson is going outside of the top 6-8 quarterbacks in most drafts, but he can easily outproduce that, especially in leagues that award a point per 20 passing yards or more than four points per passing touchdown. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family.
