[] 1. [LAR - RB Akers is '100 Percent']() Source: Jourdan Rodrigue - The Athletic Jourdan Rodrigue, from The Athletic, reports Los Angeles Rams RB Cam Akers told him that he's '100 percent' during the team's recent minicamp. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Not only is Akers fully recovered from the Achilles' injury he suffered last year (then rushed back for the playoffs), but there are reports of him being used more in the passing game this season. Fantasy GMs can get Akers currently at RB25 (5.06) in 12-team PPR leagues, but that could change if he gets more positive buzz during training camp. Darrell Henderson will backup Akers once again in 2022, and he's currently at RB39 (8.12). [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [TB - Gronkowski's agent leaves door open]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Retired TE [Rob Gronkowski](=)'s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, says he wouldn't be surprised if the tight end came out of retirement, either in 2022 or 2023. 'It would not surprise me if Tom Brady calls him during the season to come back and Rob answers the call,' Rosenhaus said. 'This is just my opinion but I wouldn't be surprised if Rob comes back during the season or next season.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Gronkowski is done...for now. He's been retired before, and then Gronkowski received a call from Brady and was back in the league. We'll see if he stays retired or returns at some point during the regular season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [TB - Career High in TDs Coming for WR Gage?]() Source: Greg Auman - The Athletic Greg Auman, from The Athletic, believes that Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Russell Gage could surpass four receiving touchdowns this season, something the veteran receiver has yet to do. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The retirement of TE Rob Gronkowski has opened opportunity for others in the Buccaneers offense. Gage may be at the top of the list of beneficiaries now that Gronkowski has hung up his cleats. He's scored four touchdowns in each of the last two seasons, but this year Gage could be used more in the red zone. We like Gage as a WR5, but the upside is there in this offense for him to be a reliable flex play for Fantasy GMs in 2022. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [TEN - WR Woods the no.1 Option]() Source: Joe Rexrode - The Athletic Joe Rexrode, from The Athletic, reports Tennessee Titans WR Robert Woods should be the team's no.1 option to open the regular season if he's healthy. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] No surprise here really...it just comes down to whether or not Woods is healthy. Woods is the seasoned veteran, and he's been building strong chemistry with QB Ryan Tannehill this offseason. He tore his ACL last year with the Rams during Week 10 preparation but should be near 100 percent by the start of the year. With rookie WR Treylon Burks struggling to impress, Woods is the top receiver with TE Austin Hooper likely the second option in the passing game. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [SEA - 'Doing Everything They Can' for WR Metcalf]( Source: Liz Mathews - Seahawks Wire Liz Mathews, from Seahawks Wire, reports Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll is (gasp) optimistic when it comes to contract negotiations with WR D.K. Metcalf. "He's a wonderful player, he has so much to offer the world, and I just don't want him to miss this opportunity, where we can't figure it out. So, we'll do everything that we can." Carroll said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Metcalf is holding out for a new contract, but there has been little news about any movement in a positive direction to get this done. He's deserving of being compensated as one of the best wide receivers in the league, and Metcalf should get the big-money contract he's been seeking. Catching passes from Geno Smith and/or Drew Lock won't do much for his numbers in 2022, so Metcalf needs to get his money now...and hope for a franchise QB (rookie?) to be added in 2023. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [CAR - WR Marshall's Stock Rising](=) Source: Joseph Person - The Athletic Joseph Person, from The Athletic, reports Carolina Panthers WR Terrace Marshall's stock is on the rise after a good showing during OTAs and mandatory minicamp. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] A rookie in 2021, Marshall only made it through 13 games catching just 17 passes for 138 yards before a foot injury ended his season. He's been impressive in camp with the Panthers this offseason, but his fantasy value will be held down so long as Sam Darnold is the quarterback. Marshall is the no.3 receiver behind D.J. Moore and Robbie Anderson. [] 7. [NYJ - Rookie RB Hall the Lead Back?]() Source: Connor Hughes - The Athletic Connor Hughes, from The Athletic, reports New York Jets rookie RB Breece Hall is the 'Batman' to Michael Carter's 'Robin' in the offense. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] They'll use both but Hall is the lead back per this report. That makes sense as Hall is built to take punishment while Carter is a smaller back who can be used effectively in space. A second-round pick out of Iowa State in the 2022 NFL draft, Hall has good size and grinds down defenders as the game goes on. Hall has a current ADP of RB37 (8.10) in 12-team PPR leagues...but expect that to rise during training camp and the preseason. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [TB - WR Godwin To Start Season on PUP?]( Source: Greg Auman - The Athletic Greg Auman, from The Athletic, reports he 'wouldn't be surprised' if Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin begins the regular season on the PUP list. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Godwin tore his ACL last year in Week 15 and has been recovering ever since. Earlier reports indicate there is no timetable for his return, but most expect him to begin training camp on the PUP list. If he begins the regular season on the PUP list, that would cost Godwin the first six weeks. Fantasy GMs know he's a WR1 when healthy, but the Buccaneers are not going to rush the star back in action. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [LAC - WR Jalen Guyton draws rave review]( Source: Chargers Wire - Gavino Borquez Los Angeles Chargers WR Jalen Guyton drew a rave review for his offseason work from head coach Brandon Staley. 'Jalen Guyton was fantastic in the offseason,' Staley said. 'This guy made a lot of big plays for us in the spring. Really did a nice job on special teams. We kind of challenged him to be a factor in the kicking game. I think he's looked really good out there.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Undrafted out of North Texas a few years ago, Guyton has been mostly a deep threat for the Chargers. He's going to likely land as the no.4 receiver for the Chargers behind Keenan Allen, Mike Williams and Joshua Palmer. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [PIT - WR Pickens Could Make Splash Plays]() Source: Mark Kaboly - The Athletic Mark Kaboly, from The Athletic, reports Pittsburgh Steelers rookie WR George Pickens "will produce some splash plays as a rookie but not enough to be somebody you blindly start every week (in fantasy football)." [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Steelers know how to identify talent at the wide receiver position, so we're excited about the second-round pick from Georgia in dynasty formats. He's got a huge catch radius and elite-level ball skills to win at the catch point. Pickens needs to stay healthy and improve as a route runner in order to play up to his potential. As a rookie, Pickens is buried on the depth chart behind guys like Chase Claypool, Diontae Johnson. Add in TE Pat Freiermuth and RB Najee Harris as receivers and Pickens is fifth in the pecking order at best. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [ATL - Rookie QB Ridder Making it a Competition]() Source: Josh Kendall - The Athletic Josh Kendall, from The Athletic, reports Atlanta Falcons rookie QB Desmond Ridder is going to make for competition at the position during training camp. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Falcons picked up Ridder in the third round of the 2022 NFL draft. During his college career at Cincinnati, Ridder showed all the tools needed for success in the modern league. Marcus Mariota is there as the veteran and projected starter, but Ridder has talent and is known as a leader. He could push for the starting job sooner than some think. Let's watch this battle unfold in camp. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [ARI - TE Maxx Williams to start camp on PUP list?]() Source: CardinalsWire - Jess Root Arizona Cardinals TE Maxx Williams (knee) will likely start training camp on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform List, Cards Wire's Jess Root speculated on Wednesday, June 20. Williams is currently recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Williams is a big-bodied veteran who can use his frame to box out smaller defenders, but injuries and inconsistencies have kept him from playing up to his potential as a pro. He's a blocking specialist at this point in his career with TE Zach Ertz the top pass catcher for the Cardinals at the position.
