[CIN - QB Joe Burrow feeling 'normal again']() Source: BengalsWire - Chris Roling Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow topped out at 20.8 miles per hour while doing sprints after practice recently, which Burrow says is a personal best since his 2020 knee surgery. 'It just feels good to feel normal again,' Burrow said on Thursday, June 16. 'We're getting there. Record since surgery, that's for sure.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This makes logical sense as knee injuries take time. But if Burrow was less than normal last year, that's a scary thought. With a bolstered offensive line, his future is bright for this season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [NE - RB J.J. Taylor making plays]( Source: The Athletic - Jeff Howe New England Patriots RB J.J. Taylor has 'stuck out as the team's best passing-down back' during minicamp, according to Jeff Howe of The Athletic. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That passing-down back role could be open to start the season with James White (hip) iffy to be ready for Week 1. Rhamondre Stevenson has been working on his route running and third-down back skills, and the team also wants to get fourth-round pick Pierre Strong's speed in the mix, so this will be a situation that gets settled in training camp, with Taylor carrying some momentum from the spring. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [DET - DE Romeo Okwara still recovering]() Source: Sports Illustrated - John Maakaron Detroit Lions LB Romeo Okwara (Achilles) was not a full participant in team drills during minicamp. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Lions added Aidan Hutchinson at the #2 overall pick and Josh Paschal in the second round to bolster their defensive end group, and they also re-signed 2021 redemption story and former Dolphins first-round pick Charles Harris. Okwara was their best edge rusher in 2020 with 10 sacks and 3 forced fumbles, and if he can return to form, the Lions will have their best edge group in years with an improved focus on stopping the run. [NE - Tyquan Thornton works with starters]( Source: The Athletic - Jeff Howe New England Patriots WR Tyquan Thornton spent time with the first-team offense during minicamp. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Thornton is the only true field stretcher in the Patriots wide receiver group, so they should err on the side of playing him over the likes of Nelson Agholor to open up room for the offense to operate. The Patriots offense was usually impenetrable for rookie receivers during the Brady/McDaniels era, but things could be simplified under Bill Belichick, Matt Patricia, and Joe Judge as they try their hand at running the Patriots offense. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [NE - Jack Jones could start at cornerback](=) Source: ESPN.com - Mike Reiss New England Patriots CB Jack Jones has emerged as a contender for the team's starting cornerback position opposite Jalen Mills, according to ESPN.com's Mike Reiss. In one recent mandatory minicamp practice, Jones worked with the first-team defense and consistently had tight coverage against starting-caliber wide receivers. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Malcolm Butler was expected by some to win the starting spot vacated by J.C. Jackson when he left for Los Angeles in free agency to play for the Chargers, but Jones is obviously creating buzz. No matter who wins the job, the Patriots secondary will be more vulnerable without Jackson, who is a shutdown corner, and the change may force the Patriots to play less man coverage, a hallmark of the Belichick defense.
