[DAL - Slot work likely for RB Tony Pollard?]() Source: Fort Worth Star-Telegram - Clarence E. Hill Jr. Dallas Cowboys RB Tony Pollard has not only lined up regularly with Ezekiel Elliott in the backfield during offseason practices, but he has also taken part in receiver drills - including a fair amount of work in the slot - according to Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This report has been out there earlier this offseason. The Cowboys should do what they can to get Pollard the ball as much as they can in any way they can. He's arguably the best running back on the roster, but Pollard will still be a reserve behind starting RB Ezekiel Elliott. As it stands right now, Pollard has plenty of flex appeal for Fantasy GMs with the upside to be an RB1 if he's the lead back if/when Elliott is banged up. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [BAL - QB Lamar Jackson reports](=) Source: CBS Sports HQ - Josina Anderson Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson reported to camp Monday, June 13. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jackson wants a new contract, and the Ravens have yet to pay up. Entering the final year of his rookie deal, Jackson has a lot to prove still. He must continue improving as a passer, and Jackson needs to show he can stay healthy to get a contract that makes him one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [MIA - WR Tyreek Hill felt underutilized](=) Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Mike Florio Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill, and his agent Drew Rosenhaus, said he felt underutilized with the Kansas City Chiefs on Hill's podcast 'It Needed to Be Said.' 'If teams are gonna give us favorable one-on-one matches against their best corner, I don't see why teams don't utilize their best receiver,' Hill said. 'And that's where probably like me and the Chiefs fell apart right there. When I'm like, yo, I don't mean to talk or be a diva in some situation but can I see the pill some time, please? Just give me the ball, please.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That's an interesting opinion from Hill, and that's his truth. However, he was targeted a career-high 159 times in 2021....so....there's that. Hill is on a team with a new head coach (Mike McDaniel) that wants to run the ball all the time. That will set up play-action opportunities for Hill on deep shots, but he may not get nearly as many targets as he did in Kansas City. Oh yeah, Tua Tagovailoa is not the deep passer that Patrick Mahomes is. Let's see what Hill is saying on his podcast during the season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [SF - QB Trey Lance putting in extra work](=) Source: NBC Sports Bay Area - Jennifer Lee Chan San Francisco 49ers QB Trey Lance is staying in the Bay Area following mandatory minicamp to get some extra work in, according to sources. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Lance is the quarterback of the future, and the 49ers would like the future to be now. He's the projected starter for the 2022 season, but QB Jimmy Garoppolo is still on the roster. Lance reportedly was 'fantastic' in practice last year, but his arm wore down as the season went on and he struggled to learn the complexity of the Shanahan offense as a rookie. It's a complicated system that Lance is getting more comfortable with, and Lance can build strength so his arm won't get fatigued. We'll see if the job is his or if Garoppolo can stay with the team as a starter if Lance is not quite ready. When Garoppolo is healthy, things could get interesting with the 49ers. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [WAS - WR Terry McLaurin sitting out]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Washington Commanders WR Terry McLaurin will sit out of mandatory minicamp this week as he seeks a new contract. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] McLaurin is going to be one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the league in the near future. Based on how Washington has done business in the past, a new contract for McLaurin could come in late July. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [KC - RB Jerick McKinnon returns to KC](=) Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler Free-agent RB Jerick McKinnon re-signed with the Kansas City Chiefs on a one-year deal on Monday, June 13, per source. The financial terms of the contract were not disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's an interesting move for the Chiefs considering they have RB Ronald Jones to do early work and former first-round pick Clyde Edwards-Helaire to catch passes out of the backfield. McKinnon was good for the Chiefs last year in the postseason as a runner and receiver with big-play ability. We'll see how and where he fits into this backfield during training camp. Fantasy GMs in deeper leagues could take him as a 'Hail Mary' in the later rounds of the draft. [GB - Allen Lazard finally inks RFA tender](=) Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler Green Bay Packers WR Allen Lazard signed his one-year restricted free-agent tender worth a reported $3.986 million on Monday, June 13. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Things change pretty quickly around here. Lazard did not show up to Packers mandatory minicamp as he wanted a long-term deal. Now, he'll play on a one-year tender before hitting free agency in 2023. Without WR Davante Adams, Lazard could end up as QB Aaron Rodgers favorite target. If Lazard stays healthy and plays up to his potential - as Rodgers no.1 receiver - then he will be handsomely compensated next offseason. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [TB - WR Jaelon Darden has to work on timing](=) Source: ESPN.com - Jenna Laine Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Jaelon Darden had issues with the deep ball early on in minicamp, but it improved over the final three days of camp. He made a couple of leaping grabs behind the defense that received reactions. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Darden is a big play specialist who is built like a speed/slot receiver. He's buried on the depth chart but worth monitoring in deep dynasty formats. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [JAX - Laviska Shenault putting in extra work]( Source: The Associated Press - Mark Long Jacksonville Jaguars WR Laviska Shenault Jr. is in attendance for voluntary workouts on Monday, June 13. The Jags were scheduled to have mandatory minicamp this week but head coach Doug Pederson canceled it to reward veteran players and is instead opting for voluntary workouts. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Shenault has to put the extra work in for many reasons. First, it's a new staff and he's got to impress them with his skill and work ethic. Second, (just like in college) Shenault flashes talent but is oft-injured and misses time due to various injuries. Finally, Shenault is buried on the depth chart and is even working as a return man to try and make his way onto the 53-man roster - which is not a guaranteed spot for him. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [NO - New Orleans getting to know RB David Johnson](=) Source: NewOrleans.Football - Nick Underhill Free-agent RB David Johnson (Texans) is visiting with the New Orleans Saints on Monday, June 13. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Saints could be in the market for more help at the running back position. Johnson is no longer the player he used to be, but he could help a team as both a runner and receiver out of the backfield. New Orleans has Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram as the top two backs. Behind them, we like guys like Dwayne Washington or undrafted rookie Abram Smith - but only in deep dynasty formats. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [ARI - QB Kyler Murray reports in time for minicamp]() Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Myles Simmons Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray took his physical on Monday, June 13, and is expected to participate in the team's mandatory minicamp beginning Tuesday, according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] No surprise here. The work is mandatory, so Murray is going to show up. It seems like things are trending in the right direction between Murray and the Cardinals even though some report there has been no movement in contract negotiations. He wants to be one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league, and it seems like the Cardinals will oblige. When that happens is anyone's guess. It's a good-faith sign for Murray to show up, so the Cardinals should be showing him the money at some point. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family.
