[Combined Rookie Draft Board](=) For years, our Dr. Jene Bramel created the Combined Rookie Draft board. It's a tier-based combined offensive and IDP ranking of the 2022 NFL Rookie Class. Dr. Jene passed the torch this year to our Jeff Bell and John Norton and they crushed it. We're excited to deliver it again. [] INSIDE THIS ISSUE 1. [IND - RB Phillip Lindsay ready to call Indianapolis home]( Source: CBSSports.com - Jonathan Jones Free-agent RB Phillip Lindsay (Dolphins) reportedly agreed to terms on an undisclosed contract with the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday, May 17. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's a good landing spot for Lindsay who has bounced around a bit since leaving the Broncos. He was a back-to-back 1,000-yard rusher his first two seasons in Denver, but a timeshare with Melvin Gordon in 2020 led to lower production. Lindsay is not a great receiver out of the backfield, and he doesn't play special teams. However, he is a good runner inside with vision and quickness as the hallmarks of his game. He will compete for a spot on the depth chart behind Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [MIA - Expectations for RB Mostert Week 1]( Source: Barry Jackson - Miami Herald Barry Jackson, from the Miami Herald, reports via Twitter that Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said RB Raheem Mostert has early-season expectations. "His expectations are to play week 1 and we are not going to rush it. He's come too far to have a setback. He's diligently working day in, day out. When he's ready he'll be on the field." McDaniel said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Mostert is coming back from a knee (cartilage) issue that cut his 2021 season short last September. The team won't rush him back, and they are certainly full of talent at the position. It's going to be some form of RBBC, likely with Chase Edmonds as the starter and Mostert competing as a change-of-pace back when healthy. Myles Gaskin and Sony Michel round out the depth chart. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [NFL - RB Tarik Cohen injured during training](=) Source: Pro Football Focus - Ari Meirov Free-agent RB Tarik Cohen (Bears) appeared to suffer a significant lower leg injury while training Tuesday, May 17. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] There has been some speculation from training video posted on social media that he may have torn his right Achilles. Cohen was still trying to get back after a horrific knee injury in 2020 knocked him out of the entire 2021 season. This latest setback could be career threatening. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [TB - No Timetable for WR Chris Godwin](=) Source: Josh Alper - ProFootballTalk.com Josh Alper, from ProFootballTalk.com, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles says about WR Chris Godwin "Better than where he was but not where he needs to be ... we don't put a timetable on it." [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] A torn ACL in Week 15 means Godwin is likely to begin training camp on the PUP list. That allows the team to put him on PUP to begin the regular season if he's not quite ready. There's no need to rush him out there, so Godwin could be out for the first six weeks which would lead to more targets for WRs Mike Evans and Russell Gage. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [CLE - David Bell the Browns' guy]() Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Nate Ulrich Cleveland Browns third-round pick WR David Bell was a player general manager Kevin Stefanski had to draft no matter what. 'You were the first guy I watched, and right away, I was like, 'We need to get this guy,'' Stefanski told Bell in a meeting shown on 'Building The Browns,' the team's TV and web series. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Bell, a former basketball player, knows how to use his size to his advantage and will regularly box out smaller defenders. He's got strong hands and rarely dropped passes in college at Purdue. Bell can work inside or outside, but most of his production came from the 'X' position for the Boilermakers. He was super consistent in college, recording 17 100-yard games in 26 starts. We'll see how he works into the mix behind WRs Amari Cooper and Donovan Peoples-Jones. [TEN - Treylon Burks under contract]( Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates Tennessee Titans WR Treylon Burks agreed to a four-year deal worth $14,369,590, according to a source Tuesday, May 17. The deal is fully guaranteed and includes a fifth-year team option. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Burks is the player the Titans have pegged to replace A.J. Brown (Eagles). He's strong after the catch and has the run-after-the-catch ability to turn short passes into long gains. Burks is unfairly compared to Deebo Samuel, mainly because he's got a linebacker's mentality with the ball in his hands much like the 49ers star receiver. He's got to get into pro shape and learn how to run better routes to play up to his potential in the pros, but things are shaping up for Burks to get plenty of opportunity as a rookie in 2022. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [NE - Pierre Strong in James White mold]() Source: NESN.com - Zack Cox New England Patriots fourth-round pick RB Pierre Strong is viewed as a potential long-term replacement for RB James White. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Strong has great footwork and the speed to create his own space. He can also be used as a gadget back who can throw passes from the backfield on trick plays (went 9-for-9 with six touchdowns as a passer in college). Strong has good hands as a receiver, but ball security is a concern after five fumbles as a senior at South Dakota State. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [SF - TE Troy Fumagalli catches on with San Fran]() Source: 49ers.com Free-agent TE Troy Fumagalli (Patriots) signed a one-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday, May 17, after participating in the team's rookie minicamp last weekend. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed. The 49ers also released TE Garrett Walston. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fumagalli has never done much in a few stops during his pro career. However, he is a good "F" tight end who can snare passes with ease. Now with the 49ers, Fumagalli will compete for a spot on the depth chart behind starter George Kittle. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [CIN - WR Tee Higgins expected to be ready for training camp]() Source: The Athletic - Paul Dehner Jr. Cincinnati Bengals WR Tee Higgins (shoulder) isn't participating in the offseason workouts but is expected to be ready for training camp, per Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic on Tuesday, May 17. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Good news for the Bengals here. Higgins underwent shoulder surgery this offseason but was seen without a sling during Tuesday's workout. When Higgins is ready to resume practicing, the team should ease him back into action. At this time, Higgins has an ADP of WR14 (3.10) in 12-team PPR leagues.
