[BAL - Baltimore considering WR Jarvis Landry?]( Source: Orange & Brown Report - Brad Stainbrook Free-agent WR Jarvis Landry (Browns) has not heard from the Cleveland Browns since the NFL Draft ended last weekend, but the Baltimore Ravens have reportedly expressed interest in him recently, according to Brad Stainbrook of the Orange & Brown Report. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Ravens would currently be starting James Proche in the slot and Rashod Bateman and Devin Duvernay outside. Landry would be an instant starter and candidate to lead the team in catches. Whether it's Landry or not, the team team needs to make a move at wide receiver. His hard-nosed style and extensive experience in the division would make him a valuable addition and good fit in the organization. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [CLE - WR Jarvis Landry, Browns reunion less likely](=) Source: USA TODAY - Tyler Dragon Free-agent WR Jarvis Landry and the Cleveland Browns are less likely to have a reunion following the draft, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jarvis Landry has mired through a two-year swoon in production of late and advancing into a wide receiver's typical twilight years without strong athleticism to start squeezes Landry's potential upside from multiple fronts. Landry remains one of the more interesting free agents at the position, along with Will Fuller, for a starting role around the NFL. Rookie third round pick David Bell will get a chance to replace Landry in the slot, which is a more interesting position for fantasy once Deshaun Watson takes over. Bell isn't a top end athlete, but he's very polished for a rookie and could become a quick favorite of Watson's. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [CHI - CHI all-in on QB Justin Fields]() Source: New York Post - Jeremy Layton Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields has the entire organization 'all-in' on him, according to general manager Ryan Poles. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The team has an odd way of showing it, as they made no significant additions in the draft or free agency to make Fields job easier, or even help evaluate him more clearly in the first post-Nagy season. The Bears offensive personnel is the worst in the league, so if Fields bombs this season, we can't be sure that it's him. This is why teams should be more decisive about moving on from failed head coaches and general managers - a new regime isn't going to want to build around the previous regime's decisions. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [NO - WR Michael Thomas still not ready](=) Source: The Athletic - Katherine Terrell New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas (ankle) still has 'a few hurdles' to clear before he is ready to return to football activities this summer, according to head coach Dennis Allen. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Michael Thomas was on a torrid career pace through four years before largely not playing in back-to-back seasons in 2020 and 2021. Not being ready for football activities does not encourage confidence heading into the summer and New Orleans was aggressive in adding Chris Olave to the thin wide receiver depth chart. The key for Thomas will be getting back on the field in August. His price is well below peaks in both redraft and dynasty and either a great value or a falling knife. It's possible Thomas will never regain the form we saw pre-injury and surgery. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [QB Drew Lock or QB Geno Smith will be Seahawks starter in 2022, per Pete Carroll]() Source: NFL.com When asked about the Seahawks quarterback situation in the wake of the Russell Wilson trade, Seahawks' head coach Pete Carroll said "I don't see us making a trade for anybody at all. I don't see that happening. But we're certainly going to continue to be open to chances to help our club, and meanwhile we're just going to be battling and competing our tails off." [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Carroll has a reputation for misleading quotes, so take this with a grain of salt. With Baker Mayfield, Jimmy Garoppolo, and other veteran quarterbacks on the market, there have been rumors that the Seahawks may make a move to improve the quarterback room. They neglected the position in the Draft but Carroll seems content letting Lock and Smith battle it out in camp. With D.K. Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, Rashaad Penny, and newly-acquired Noah Fant and Kenneth Walker III on the team, Seattle's quarterback will be surrounded by high-level talent. Smith had an impressive 4:0 TD:INT ratio in his three starts last year but topped out at a measly 209 passing yards in a game. Lock has a penchant for gunslinging deep balls and his athleticism could make him an appealing option for Seattle. Keep an eye on this battle throughout camp, but keep expectations low for everyone in this passing game. DK Metcalf did catch four touchdowns from Smith in four games last year, so he might be able to emerge unscathed from a fantasy standpoint if Smith wins the job. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [NYJ - Greg Van Roten released]( Source: NewYorkJets.com New York Jets OG Greg Van Roten was released on Friday, May 6. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The team saves 3.5 million with the move. Free agent signing Laken Tomlinson will replace Van Roten in the starting lineup, while the underrated Nate Herbig, just claimed from Philadelphia, will be the top backup at guard. Van Roten should catch on somewhere and maybe even have a chance to start. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [SEA - SEA signs several UDFAs]() Source: The Athletic - Michael-Shawn Dugar Undrafted free-agents TE Cade Brewer (Texas), WR Jake Herslow (Houston), QB Levi X. Jones (NC State), TE John X. Mitchell (Florida Atlantic), SS Scott Nelson (Wisconsin), WR Demetris Robertson (Auburn), CB Josh Valentine-Turner (Florida International) signed three-year deals with the Seattle Seahawks Friday, May 6. Financial terms weren't disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Lewis is a tiny (5'8" 187) running quarterback who is worth noting only because the Seahawks have the worst quarterback depth chart in the league. Robertson spent some time at Georgia and California before transferring to Auburn and will compete with seventh-round pick Bo Melton in the slot. Of the players signed, Nelson has the best chance of making the team with a lot of inexperience on the depth chart at safety after the top four. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [CHI - Velus Jones to be a gadget]() Source: ESPN.com - Courtney Cronin Chicago Bears third-round pick WR Velus Jones was drafted with hopes of lining him up outside, in the slot and in the backfield as well as in the return game. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Velus Jones was a surprise pick of the Bears at 71 overall in this year's draft. Jones is both on the old side as a prospect plus lacking meaningful production despite his size and athleticism combination. Jones focusing on special teams and sporadic opportunities on offense would not be a surprise for his rookie season. [SEA - Seattle inks four draft picks]() Source: Seahawks.com Seattle Seahawks CB Tariq Woolen, DE Tyreke Smith and WRs Bo Melton and Dareke Young signed their rookie contracts on Friday, May 6. The financial terms of the contracts were not disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Woolen has freakish length and speed but is a long term project out of UTSA in the fifth round. Melton is an underrated slot receiver from Rutgers who was a favorite of many draftniks and a name to remember if he can make the team. Young is a top end athlete but played at Division II Lenoir Rhyne. Both receivers were seventh round picks. Smith is a fifth round pick who went to Ohio State and could stick as in the edge rush rotation if he gets stronger. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [LVR - Vegas, team president part ways]( Source: Raiders.com The Las Vegas Raiders and team president Dan Ventrelle parted ways on Friday, May 6. 'Dan Ventrelle is no longer with the Raiders organization. We will have no further comment at this time,' the team announced. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Ventrelle left without explanation and yesterday Chief Operations and Analytics Officer Jeremy Aguero left without any explanation. The team has had turnover at most major positions in the organization. The latest moves raise the question whether another sea change is underway after Jon Gruden was fired during the season last year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [DAL - Damone Clark may see time as rookie]( Source: CowboysWire - Todd Brock Dallas Cowboys LB Damone Clark (back) is ahead of schedule in his recovery and is believed to have a chance to play at some point during the 2022 season, according to executive vice president Stephen Jones. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Clark would have gone a round or two earlier if he didn't have surgery for a herniated disc in his back. He can play the middle which makes him potentially valuable in dynasty IDP leagues, and worth a late pick in rookie drafts. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [NO - QB Jameis Winston likely to be ready]() Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Myles Simmons New Orleans Saints QB Jameis Winston (knee) is expected to be ready for Week 1, according to general manager Dennis Allen. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jameis Winston is the Saints starting quarterback plan for 2022. The team added Andy Dalton, but this is Winston's job to lose heading into the season. Winston had his best season on many fronts in 2021, albeit in an injury-shortened campaign. 2022 also marks the first year without Sean Payton in New Orleans since 2005. If last year is any indication, expect a low volume, high-efficiency pass offense under Winston. He didn't have Michael Thomas or Chris Olave, so this offense could be improved in the passing game as long as there isn't a huge dropoff from Terron Armstead (who signed with Miami in free agency) to first-round pick Trevor Penning at left tackle. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [KC - George Karlaftis agrees to rookie deal]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Kansas City Chiefs DE George Karlaftis agreed to a fully guaranteed four-year rookie contract on Friday, May 6, per source. The financial terms of the contract were not disclosed. As is the case with all first-round picks, the deal will carry a fifth-year team option. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Karlaftis has a chance to start at defensive end opposite Frank Clark, and he's a candidate to lead all rookies in sacks. He's a power player who will also perform well setting the edge against the run. Consider him as an underrated candidate to win defensive rookie of the year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [SEA - OLB K.J. Wright eyeing Seattle reunion]( Source: NFL.com - Grant Gordon Free-agent LB K.J. Wright (Raiders) said he hopes to return to the Seattle Seahawks for the 2022 season. 'I just want to go back home,' Wright said. 'I think it's that simple. Seattle knows that I want to come back. They know how much they mean to me.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Wright didn't sign until the eve of the season last year and contributed as a part-time player for the Raiders, making the playoffs. He never wanted to leave Seattle and didn't move his family to Las Vegas. Wright hinted that he might retire if the Seahawks don't bring him back because he doesn't want to move his family and he doesn't want to spend the season away from them. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [SEA - Kaleb Eleby gets rookie minicamp invite]() Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero Correcting a previous report, undrafted free agent QB Kaleb Eleby (Western Michigan) has accepted a rookie minicamp invite from the Seattle Seahawks, per source. It was previously reported he signed a UDFA contract. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Kaleb Eleby had a shot to get drafted, but quarterbacks tumbled in the draft overall and Chris Oladokun and Skylar Thompson were late Day 3 preferences by NFL teams instead. Eleby does not project as an overly mobile option in the NFL but did have a quality passing profile exiting Western Michigan. If he can make the team, Eleby will have an outside chance of playing by the end of the season with only Drew Lock and Geno Smith in his way. Eleby will be reunited with college teammate and 2021 second-round pick D'Wayne Eskridge if he makes the team. He once outdueled Kenny Pickett in a 44-41 win over Pitt in one of the best games of his collegiate career. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [IND - OLB Darius Leonard stronger entering 2022]() Source: NFL.com - Nick Shook Indianapolis Colts LB Darius Leonard (ankle) said he feels healthier physically and mentally after spending the offseason resting and strengthening his ankle. 'It feels a whole lot better than what it did, coming from the end of the season,' Leonard said. 'A lot of time to rest, trying to make it stronger. I feel better coming into this season than I did last year, I can say that.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Leonard said he fell out of love with football last year as he played through an ankle injury and dealt with covid and worried about sick family members at home. He said he's feeling better than he did coming into last year, and that he hopes he can avoid another surgery on the ankle. His profile as the #1 IDP linebacker, perhaps #1 overall IDP, is still strong, but the ankle issues cast a shadow over his dynasty stock.
