It's the time of year when teams are sifting through what just happened in the draft and what they might do before camps. And we're here for it. Let's Go. J --------------------------------------------------------------- SITE NEWS A. Footballguys - Scheduled Site Maintenance 5/5/22 Just a heads-up. The Footballguys.com site will be undergoing some scheduled site maintenance Thursday 5/5/22. It could be down for most of the day as we get ready for this season. Apologies for the trouble and we should be ready to go Friday morning at the latest. [] INSIDE THIS ISSUE 1. [ARI - WR DeAndre Hopkins' future in doubt?](#1) 2. [ARI - WR DeAndre Hopkins' future in doubt?]( Source: MMQB - Albert Breer Arizona Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins could be a cut candidate in 2023 if things don't go well for him once he returns from his six-game suspension, Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer speculates. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Never say never in the NFL, so this shocking headline could actually come to fruition. We doubt that happens, but again - never say never. Hopkins withdrew the appeal of his six-game suspension, so he will miss the first month and a half of the 2022 regular season. This will allow the newly acquired Marquise Brown to get a jump start on the season as the Cardinals no.1 receiver. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [PHI - QB Hurts 'good now' After Ankle Surgery]( Source: Brandon Lee Gowton - Bleeding Green Brandon Lee Gowton, from Bleeding Green, reports Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is feeling good after his ankle surgery. "I'm good now. That's all that matters." Hurts said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] After the Eagles lost in the playoffs, Hurts went under the knife to repair his ankle problem. He played with it down the stretch of the season and clearly was bothered by it. Now healthy, and with much better weapons around him, it's time for Hurts to lead the team further into the postseason. He'll make his case for a top 10 fantasy QB. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [CLE - WR Jarvis Landry still an option for CLE](=) Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Nate Ulrich Free-agent WR Jarvis Landry (Browns) remains an option for the Cleveland Browns. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's now after the draft, and Landry still hasn't found a new spot. Although he has gotten some interest from the Saints and the Falcons. With the rookie receivers selected, we'll see if a team brings Landry in now as get towards mandatory minicamp next month. The Browns have always been an option for Landry, and they especially became one when they traded for QB Deshaun Watson. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [TEN - QB Tannehill Not There to Mentor Rookie Willis]( Source: John Glennon - Sports Illustraded John Glennon, Titans writer for SI.com, reports Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill said he was not there to mentor rookie Malik Willis. In a recent interview, Tannehill said things like "I don't think it's my job to mentor" and "we're in a competition" when talking about the addition of Willis in the 2022 NFL draft. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Tannehill did go on to explain that if Willis learns something behind him that's great, but his initial reaction was a bit jarring. He's correct, his job is not to mentor a rookie who could take over as the starter in 2023, Tannehill's job is to finally get this team over the hump and to the Super Bowl. The heat is on Tannehill this season, and he's been around long enough to know that. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [PHI - WR Reagor Could Be Trade Candidate?]( Source: Zach Berman - The Athletic Zach Berman, from The Athletic, speculates that Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jalen Reagor could be a candidate to be traded. With the trade for superstar receiver A.J. Brown, Reagor - a former first-round pick - has been pushed further down the depth chart. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] A fresh start could do good for both sides. Reagor has been a bust so far in two seasons with the Eagles. They could move on without him, and he could get a new chance with a different team. Eagles GM Howie Roseman is adamant that Reagor is staying with the team but that's likely posturing. Sure, Reagor could stay as depth for the team but he won't be in line for many snaps. A trade later in the year could materialize. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [BUF - Khalil Shakir to WR4]( Source: ESPN.com - Alaina Getzenberg Buffalo Bills fifth-round pick WR Khalil Shakir is slotted in as the fourth receiver. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Shakir is the type of receiver who makes things happen. Boise State utilized him as a return man and after the catch as a receiver that makes defenders look silly. He's got an extra gear with the ball in his hands and just gives QB Josh Allen another weapon to throw to in this stacked offense. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [TEN - TEN adds Thomas Odukoya]( Source: TennesseeTitans.com - Jim Wyatt The Tennessee Titans added TE Thomas Odukoya on Tuesday, May 3, as part of the NFL's International Player Pathway program. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Odukoya played college football at Eastern Michigan, but he started playing football in the Nederlands when he was 16 years old. All of these four international players added to the AFC South today will remain with their teams through training camp and won't count towards the 90-man offseason roster. If kept on the practice squad after camp, these players won't count towards the 16-man limit, either. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [WAS - Washington excited by Cole Turner]( Source: NBC Sports Washington - Ethan Cadeaux Washington Commanders TE Cole Turner is a 'very intriguing' player, according to head coach Ron Rivera. 'This is a dynamic pass catcher,' Rivera said. 'He's played in a spread-style offense. He's a guy that's a big target, he's got a tremendous catch radius, runs good routes and knows how to separate at the right time.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] There's a lot to be excited about when it comes to Turner. He's a big target (6-feet, 7-inches) who does a lot of work in the red zone. Turner knows how to get open and uses his frame to box out smaller defenders. The rookie from Nevada will begin his pro career behind Logan Thomas, but he could rise up the depth chart quickly if Thomas gets banged up again. There is no doubt that Turner has the upside to be a starter in the league someday. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [DEN - Greg Dulcich to stretch the field?]( Source: ESPN.com - Jeff Legwold Denver Broncos TE Greg Dulcich is a true threat to stretch the field, according to head coach Nathaniel Hackett. 'When you have a guy that can stretch the field like he can, it's really exciting,' Hackett said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Dulcich might start for the Broncos from day one. He's big, fast and creates mismatches every time he's on the field. Albert Okwuegbunam is there to compete for the starting job, but he's struggled to stay healthy as a pro and isn't the receiving weapon that Dulcich is. We'll see these two battle it out in training camp. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [ATL - Tyler Allgeier chance to start Week 1?](=) Source: ESPN.com - Michael Rothstein Atlanta Falcons RB Tyler Allgeier has a chance to be the team's opening day starter in 2022, in the opinion of ESPN's Michael Rothstein. 'So there will be opportunity for Allgeier to make an impact as a rookie. There is even a chance he ends up as the team's opening day starter in September because it's a room that's wide open. It would have been that even if Davis had remained on the roster,' said Rothstein. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] There's always a chance, but Cordarrell Patterson is going to play a large role for the offense no matter if he's the starter or not. Allgeier is a big-bodied rookie from BYU who loves to win collisions. The Falcons should feature some sort of RBBC this season.
