[IND - Indy GM also non-committal on QB Carson Wentz](#11) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [HOU - David Culley fired](=) Source: Houston Chronicle - John McClain Houston Texans head coach David Culley was fired Thursday, Jan. 13. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Texans waited a few days from the end of the regular season to decide they needed to move on from Culley as their head coach. Texans GM Nick Caserio will likely be looking for former Patriots (just like him) to be the head coach. At the top of the list could be Patriots OC Josh McDaniels. Culley's hiring was always curious, but he fielded a competitive team and should land on his feet as a coordinator somewhere. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [BUF - Day off for WR Stefon Diggs](=) Source: BuffaloBills.com Buffalo Bills WR [Stefon Diggs](=) (non-injury) did not participate in practice Thursday, Jan. 13, but is not on the injury report for the Wild Card playoff game. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] No worries here. It's a day of rest for Diggs as the Bills prepare for their game against the Patriots. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [DAL - Will McClay sticks with Dallas](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Dallas Cowboys vice president of player personnel Will McClay signed an undisclosed deal Thursday, Jan. 13, to remain with the organization. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Cowboys wanted to prevent other teams from scooping McClay up for any of the open GMs spots out there. McClay turned down the chance to talk to the Texans last year, and this time around the Cowboys stopped any sort of interest in McClay with a big money deal. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [MIN - MIN requests interviews with two]() Source: NFL Network - Mike GarafoloPhiladelphia Eagles executives Catherine Raiche and Brandon Brown have been requested for interviews for the Minnesota Vikings' general manager position. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Raiche has experience working in the CFL and the XFL before getting on board with the Eagles back in 2019. She is a lawyer and could end up getting the Vikings GM job. If not, it may not be long before Raiche is running a team in the NFL. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [CHI - Jeff Ireland to meet with Chicago](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport New Orleans Saints assistant general manager Jeff Ireland will interview for the Chicago Bears' general manager opening Friday, Jan. 14. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's an interesting move for the Bears considering the way things went for Ireland when he was Miami's GM. Ireland's time with the Dolphins was a disaster, but perhaps the Bears want to see if he could fit their vision for the future. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [CHI - Matt Eberflus to meet with Chicago](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus will interview for the Chicago Bears head coaching position Monday, Jan. 17. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Eberflus is one of the hottest coaching candidates out there, and he's interviewing with Jacksonville as well. He's got a great defense with the Colts and should be a head coach in the near future. [MIN - Ryan Poles sought after by Vikings](=) Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Kansas City Chiefs director of player personnel Ryan Poles has been requested for an interview for the Minnesota Vikings' general manager vacancy. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Poles has been considered a future general manager for some time now. Last year, Poles was in the running for the Panthers job. The Vikings want to make the right decision at GM after letting Rick Spielman go earlier in the week. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [BUF - WR Emmanuel Sanders on track to play](=) Source: BuffaloBills.com Buffalo Bills WR [Emmanuel Sanders](=) (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Jan. 13, and is not on the injury report for the Wild Card playoff game. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's going to be a cold day in Buffalo, but they'll need a big catch or two from Sanders against the Patriots. He missed the last two weeks due to this knee injury and hasn't done much since catching five passes for 91 yards against the Titans in Week 6. Don't expect Sanders to do much in the Wild Card round, but if there's a key third down we could see QB Josh Allen looking his way. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [TB - WR John Brown joins Tampa practice squad]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Free-agent WR [John Brown](=) (Jaguars) signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' practice squad on an undisclosed contract Thursday, Jan. 13. In a corresponding move, RB Darwin Thompson was released. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Buccaneers have a need at the wide receiver position with Chris Godwin out and Antonio Brown gone. Brown, who Bruce Arians dubbed "Smoke" when they were with the Cardinals, is a seasoned veteran who can still bring speed to the field. We'll see if the Buccaneers need to lean on him at some point during the postseason. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [PIT - WR JuJu Smith-Schuster could play vs. KC](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Pittsburgh Steelers WR [JuJu Smith-Schuster](=) (shoulder) practiced Thursday, Jan. 13, and has a chance to play in Wild Card Weekend at the Kansas City Chiefs. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Steelers activated Smith-Schuster off the IR list with the idea that he could possible be ready to go by Sunday night. They need all hands on deck against the Chiefs in the Wild Card round, and getting Smith-Schuster back would be a boost for the passing game. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [IND - Indy GM also non-committal on QB Carson Wentz]() Source: ESPN.com - Mike Wells Indianapolis Colts QB [Carson Wentz](=) did not receive a vote of confidence from general manager Chris Ballard Thursday, Jan. 13, only days after head coach Frank Reich also wouldn't commit to Wentz being the starter in 2022. 'At the time, we felt it was the right decision...' Ballard said. 'I'm not going to make a comment on who is going to be here next year and who is not.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Colts may have no choice other than to keep Wentz for the 2022 season because of his $15 million in dead money remaining on his contract. The quarterback market is going to be crazy this offseason, and Wentz may be a part of that if the Colts decide to move on. Stay tuned.
