[TEN - RB Derrick Henry designated to return](#10) 11. [KC - RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire remains sidelined](#11) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [CIN - QB Joe Burrow to sit out finale](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Cincinnati Bengals QB [Joe Burrow](=) will sit out of the Week 18 game to rest up for the playoffs. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Bengals are giving Burrow some rest in Week 18 so that he can be fresh for the postseason. Against the Browns, we'll see Brandon Allen as the starter. Downgrade all pass catchers in the Bengals offense. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [CIN - RB Joe Mixon out for Week 18](=) Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Cincinnati Bengals RB [Joe Mixon](=) tested positive for COVID-19 Wednesday, Jan. 5, and will be out for Week 18. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Mixon is out and QB Joe Burrow is not playing. The Bengals turn to Samaje Perine and rookie Chris Evans in the backfield. Perine has upside as the lead back because of his power as a runner and underrated receiving ability. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [WAS - RB Antonio Gibson activated](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Washington Football Team RB [Antonio Gibson](=) was activated from the Reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, Jan. 5. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Gibson has been banged up most of the year, so there's a chance the team rests him in Week 18. If they don't rest him, they may choose to put him on a snap count in order to give rookie Jaret Patterson more playing time. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [DET - WR Kalif Raymond activated](=) Source: DetroitLions.com Detroit Lions WR [Kalif Raymond](=) was activated from the Reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, Jan. 5. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Raymond is a key reserve for the Lions passing game. He can come through with big catches when called upon. There's not much fantasy value with him, but he's a solid reserve. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [CHI - QB Justin Fields good to go]( Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates Chicago Bears QB [Justin Fields](=) (ankle) will practice Wednesday, Jan. 5, and will start in Week 18. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's a meaningless game against the Vikings on Sunday. However, the Vikings are going to play their starters and push the Bears in what should be head coach Matt Nagy's final game. Fields is the future for the Bears, and his rushing ability gives him QB1 potential anytime he's starting - even with bad game plans from Nagy. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [DEN - QB Teddy Bridgewater put on IR](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Denver Broncos QB [Teddy Bridgewater](=) (concussion) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Wednesday, Jan. 5. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Bridgewater is set to be a free agent in 2022. There's a chance the Broncos bring him back to be a bridge quarterback to a rookie. If Bridgewater does not return to the Broncos, he may have a difficult time finding a starting job. [HOU - WR Brandin Cooks keeps producing]( Source: ESPN.com - Sarah Barshop Houston Texans WR [Brandin Cooks](=) has 1,011 receiving yards this season, giving him six seasons with 1,000-plus yards in his eight years in the league. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Cooks has bounced around the league, playing with high-powered offenses and playing with bad offenses, and he still produces. It looks like Davis Mills is going to be the starting quarterback in 2022, and it's good news that he's got a connection with Cooks as the top target. He's on the books for $16.2 million in 2022 with $7.5 million remaining in dead money. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [DET - Limited practice for QB Jared Goff]( Source: NFLCommunications.com Detroit Lions QB [Jared Goff](=) (knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Jan. 5. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] He's dealing with a bone bruise and says he'd like to be out there for the finale. But that's not certain today. Watch to see if he's able to work Thursday and Friday. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [TB - WR Mike Evans a limited participant]() Source: Buccaneers.com - Carmen Vitali Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR [Mike Evans](=) (hamstring) was limited during practice Wednesday, Jan. 5. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hamstrings are always tough to push so we'll see how this goes for Evans. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [TEN - RB Derrick Henry designated to return](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Tennessee Titans RB [Derrick Henry](=) (foot) was designated to return from Injured Reserve Wednesday, Jan. 5. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The league shudders at the thought of Henry returning to the field. He's on track to return in the playoffs. With a win on Sunday over the Texans, the Titans would secure the no.1 spot in the AFC - and a first-round bye which would give Henry another week of rest. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [KC - RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire remains sidelined]( Source: NFLCommunications.com Kansas City Chiefs RB [Clyde Edwards-Helaire](=) (shoulder) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Jan. 5. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Not great missing another practice here. It doesn't help the game is Saturday for Kansas City. Stay tuned. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family.
