[The Audible - Week 14 Recap]( In This Episode: Cecil Lammey and Sigmund Bloom go beyond the box score to break down all of Sunday's action from Week 14 of the NFL and fantasy football season. [MIA - RB Phillip Lindsay tests positive for COVID](#11) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [BUF - QB Josh Allen in a walking boot](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Buffalo Bills QB [Josh Allen](=) (toe) left the stadium in a walking boot Sunday, Dec. 12, with a mild case of turf toe. He'll have tests Monday, Dec. 13, but Allen downplayed the issue. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Allen is one tough cookie because he rushed for over 100 yards against the Buccaneers on Sunday with this turf toe injury. It's a 'mild' case, but anyone who has had turf toe will tell you there's really no such thing. He should be limited during the week of practice, but if it's 'not a big deal' (as Allen says) then he'll be able to play against the Panthers in Week 15. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [GB - QB Aaron Rodgers has toe setback](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Green Bay Packers QB [Aaron Rodgers](=) (toe) said he suffered a bit of a setback with his broken toe in Week 14. Rodgers will be examined Monday, Dec. 13, to determine if he needs surgery to place a pin in it. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Surgery is a 'last resort' option according to Rodgers. He's been dealing with the pain because he needs to be able to feel his feet to set his stance and throw. It's feeling worse, but we have a feeling Rodgers can gut it out over the remainder of the regular season. If not, Jordan Love would come back in...and that's not great for Packers fans, the Packers offense or Fantasy GMs. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [GB - QB Aaron Rodgers to rest, rehab injury](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Updating an earlier report, Green Bay Packers QB [Aaron Rodgers](=) (toe) is likely to rest and rehab the toe injury instead of surgery. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Rodgers said that surgery is a 'last resort' option for him. The injury comes down to pain tolerance because Rodgers needs to feel his feet to throw. The pain has worsened per Rodgers, but there's a chance he just continues to tough it out. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [BAL - QB Lamar Jackson avoids high-ankle sprain](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Updating previous reports, Baltimore Ravens QB [Lamar Jackson](=) (ankle) has a low-ankle sprain, and the team is planning for him to play in Week 15. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That's good news for Jackson and the Ravens. He is expected to play in Week 15 but if not they could turn to Tyler Huntley who doesn't look bad running the offense for Baltimore. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [CLE - RB Kareem Hunt likely out]( Source: 850 ESPN - Tony Grossi Cleveland Browns RB [Kareem Hunt](=) (ankle) is week-to-week, and he's likely out for Week 15, according to head coach Kevin Stefanski. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Browns play the Raiders on Saturday in Week 15. That means Hunt is likely out of action. We'll watch his practice status during the week. If/when Hunt is out, D'Ernest Johnson gets reserve work behind starter Nick Chubb. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [DEN - RB Melvin Gordon sprains thumb](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Denver Broncos RB [Melvin Gordon](=) (thumb) suffered a sprained thumb in Week 14, but it doesn't figure to limit him moving forward. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Gordon missed a little bit of time, but he was able to return to the field against the Lions. He was banged up last week, limited every day of practice, then rushed for over 100 yards as the Broncos starter in Week 14. Gordon will be a RB2 option for Fantasy GMs in Week 15 against the Bengals. [LAC - RB Austin Ekeler tweaked ankle](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Chargers RB [Austin Ekeler](=) (ankle) 'looked fine,' according to head coach Brandon Staley. Ekeler aggravated his ankle issue from last week. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Chargers play the Chiefs on Thursday night in Week 15. The short week could mean that Ekeler is a game-time decision. Keep an eye on his status, but the team might turn to Justin Jackson or Joshua Kelley (or both) if Ekeler can't go. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [TB - RB Giovani Bernard out of action](=) Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB [Giovani Bernard](=) (hip, knee) will miss some time with injuries to his hip and medial collateral ligament. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fantasy GMs are loving what Leonard Fournette is doing for them on a weekly basis. He's been doing more as a pass-catcher as well, and that hasn't left much work for Bernard. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [CAR - QB Sam Darnold not out for season](=) Source: ESPN.com - David Newton Carolina Panthers QB [Sam Darnold](=) (shoulder) isn't ready yet, but head coach Matt Rhule said Darnold could be a factor down the stretch. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Darnold is still a few weeks away from being available, but there's a chance he could return for a game or two at the end of the year. The Panthers have Cam Newton as the starter but he's been getting benched for P.J. Walker. Getting Darnold back is not a boost for the offense, but he may get another chance to start given how the QB situation is going downhill in Carolina. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [NYG - QB Daniel Jones having more tests done](=) Source: New York Post - Paul Schwartz New York Giants QB [Daniel Jones](=) (neck) will have another MRI on his neck Monday, Dec. 13, but the team contends there's no information that leads them to rule him out for the season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Neck injuries are tricky to deal with. We're not going to go overboard, but many players through NFL history have never been the same since suffering a neck injury. We'll see what the tests reveal, but this is a serious injury that needs to be given the proper time to heal. Mike Glennon may be starting more games for the Giants this year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [MIA - RB Phillip Lindsay tests positive for COVID]() Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero Miami Dolphins RB [Phillip Lindsay](=) tested positive for COVID-19 Monday, Dec. 13. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Dolphins running back room has been hit hard by COVID over the last week. They had a bye in Week 14 and are now preparing for a divisional game against the Jets on Sunday. Lindsay is the latest to test positive, but last week Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed both went into COVID protocol. Any player who is vaccinated can test negative twice 24 hours apart and return the same week, so there's a chance all three may be available. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family.
