[NYG - RB Saquon Barkley carted to locker room](=) Source: WFAA Dallas - Mike Leslie New York Giants RB [Saquon Barkley](=) (ankle) rolled his left ankle in the first quarter of the Week 5 game against the Dallas Cowboys, and he was seen on the sidelines with his shoe off and considerable swelling. He was then taken to the locker room on a cart. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Barkley was quickly declared out for the rest of the game. His bye isn't until Week 10, so it's a victory for his fantasy teams if he doesn't end up on injured reserve. Devontae Booker is the backup, but rookie Gary Brightwell will also figure into the backfield picture for any time that Barkley misses. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [CIN - Joe Burrow taken to hospital after game](=) Source: ESPN.com - Ben Baby Cincinnati Bengals QB [Joe Burrow](=) completed 26-of-38 passes for 281 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, while rushing for 11 yards in Week 5 against the Green Bay Packers. After the game he was taken to a local area hospital as a precaution due to a throat contusion, a team spokesperson said Sunday, Oct. 10. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Burrow got banged up early in the game but led his team back with yet another long score to Ja'Marr Chase. A couple of ill-timed interceptions temporarily held back his team, but if rookie kicker Evan McPherson converted either of his attempts to win the game, Burrow would be a hero. He'll get to pick on the Lions defense as long as his throat injury doesn't keep him on the sidelines. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [ATL - Kyle Pitts has outstanding game]() Source: NFL.com Atlanta Falcons TE [Kyle Pitts](=) caught nine passes for 119 yards and one touchdown against the New York Jets in Week 5. He was targeted 10 times during the game. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Pitts breakout game finally arrived! We will stick with him after his bye, but it is yet to seen how much of this is Pitts getting up to speed a month into his NFL career, and how much was Calvin Ridley being out and the Jets defense being very generous. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [WAS - WR Curtis Samuel leaves early]( Source: WashingtonFootball.com Washington Football Team WR [Curtis Samuel](=) (groin) left the Week 5 game early because of a groin injury and is considered questionable to return. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This injury has been affecting Samuel since June. You have to wonder if Samuel is heading back to injured reserve. Dyami Brown is also hurt so the Football Team is thin at wide receiver opposite Terry McLaurin. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [PIT - ILB Devin Bush leaves game](=) Source: Steelers.com - Burt Lauten Pittsburgh Steelers LB Devin Bush (leg) suffered a leg injury during the Week 5 game and is considered questionable to return. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Bush didn't return. He's a key cog in this defense and would be missed against the Seahawks next week, although the Steelers will get to dodge Russell Wilson. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [TB - Two scores for WR Mike Evans](=) Source: ESPN Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR [Mike Evans](=) registered six receptions for 113 yards and two touchdowns on eight targets in Week 5 against the Miami Dolphins. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Evans is a solid WR1 because of how relentless this pass offense is. Next week he might see Darius Slay, but can't be on fantasy benches. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [ATL - QB Matt Ryan plays well vs. NYJ]() Source: NFL.com Atlanta Falcons QB [Matt Ryan](=) went 33-for-45 for 342 yards and two touchdowns against the New York Jets in Week 5. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Ryan has leveled off as a solid QB2/Superflex and he is producing in the matchups that are supposed to be good for fantasy. There are signs of hope for this offense heading into the bye because they didn't have Calvin Ridley in this one. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [ATL - TE Hayden Hurst catches TD pass]() Source: NFL.com Atlanta Falcons TE [Hayden Hurst](=) caught four passes for 40 yards and one touchdown against the New York Jets in Week 5. He was targeted five times during the game. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hurst was a featured target with Calvin Ridley out. He fumbled twice, one lost, but Matt Ryan didn't go away from him. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [NYJ - Michael Carter reaches end zone]() Source: NFL.com New York Jets RB [Michael Carter](=) rushed for 38 yards and one touchdown on 10 carries against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 5. He also caught three passes for 20 yards during the game. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Carter led the Jets backfield in touches for the second straight week and scored for the second straight week. He'll be a flex play after the Jets bye. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [TB - ILB Lavonte David suffers injury]( Source: Buccaneers.com Tampa Bay Buccaneers LB Lavonte David (knee) suffered a knee injury during the Week 5 game and is considered questionable to return. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] David is a key performer for a defense that has been weak against the pass. It's not a coincidence that Myles Gaskin is finally doing something this week. The Bucs get Philadelphia next week. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [MIN - WR Adam Thielen held to 40 yards]() Source: NFL.com Minnesota Vikings WR [Adam Thielen](=) caught two passes for 40 yards against the Detroit Lions in Week 5. He was targeted three times during the game. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Thielen and Kirk Cousins just weren't on the same page in this one even though they faced one of the weakest defensive rosters in the league. He looked like a clear every week play because of his touchdown scoring going into this week, but we may think twice about playing him if he has another dud against the Panthers next week. [PIT - WR JuJu Smith-Schuster ruled out]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers WR [JuJu Smith-Schuster](=) (shoulder) will not return to the Week 5 game because of his shoulder injury. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] With James Washington also out, Ray-Ray McCloud is getting more snaps for the Steelers as the third wide receiver. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [DET - TE T.J. Hockenson quiet in Week 5]() Source: NFL.com Detroit Lions TE [T.J. Hockenson](=) caught two passes for 22 yards against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 5. He was targeted three times during the game. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hockenson has gone cold after a hot start in PPR leagues. He has been on the injury report with a knee injury, so we'll watch his practice participation heading into a matchup with the Bengals. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [TB - QB Tom Brady tosses five touchdowns]( Source: Buccaneers.com - Carmen Vitali Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB [Tom Brady](=) (finger) completed 30-of-41 passes for 411 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 5 against the Miami Dolphins and he rushed for 13 yards. Head coach Bruce Arians said Sunday, Oct. 10, that Brady injured his finger early, but obviously it didn't affect him. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Brady is either a week winner or a liability in fantasy this year, with three big games to two duds. Next week against Philadelphia looks more like a boom than a bust considering what the Chiefs did to the Eagles in Week 5. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [MIA - RB Myles Gaskin finds end zone twice](=) Source: ESPN Miami Dolphins RB [Myles Gaskin](=) rushed five times for a team-high 25 yards in Week 5 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he added 10 grabs for 74 yards and two touchdowns. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Gaskin was a frequent target as the Dolphins abandoned the run against the Bucs stout front but were still relegated to short passing with a banged up Jacoby Brissett contained to the pocket. Gaskin will be a hot waiver wire pickup this week, but this performance might be a mirage. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [MIA - TE Mike Gesicki targeted seven times](=) Source: ESPN Miami Dolphins TE [Mike Gesicki](=) registered four receptions for 43 yards on seven targets in Week 5 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Gesicki was a bit of a disappointment considering how pass heavy his team went today. He has been better with Jacoby Brissett than Tua Tagovailoa, so watch the quarterback news out of Miami this week if you have Gesicki. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 17. [TB - WR Antonio Brown finds end zone twice](=) Source: ESPN Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR [Antonio Brown](=) registered seven receptions for 124 yards and two touchdowns in Week 5 against the Miami Dolphins. He was targeted eight times. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Brown got free deep early and then got one of the second half scores as the Bucs poured it on. Tom Brady seems to have zeroed in more on Brown since Rob Gronkowski went out. Brown will be tough to bench next week at Philadelphia even if Gronkowski returns. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 18. [MIA - QB Jacoby Brissett tosses pair of TDs](=) Source: ESPN Miami Dolphins QB [Jacoby Brissett](=) completed 27-of-39 passes for 275 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Week 5 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Brissett suffered a hamstring injury in the game. With no real mobility outside of the pocket, he was only able to dink and dunk against a depleted Bucs secondary. We will watch Tua Tagovailoa's status this week to see if Brissett will start against the Jaguars next week. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 19. [MIN - Justin Jefferson has terrific performance]() Source: NFL.com Minnesota Vikings WR [Justin Jefferson](=) caught seven passes for 124 yards against the Detroit Lions in Week 5. He was targeted eight times during the game. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jefferson had 104 yards in the first half, but the team curiously went away from the downfield passing game while they nursed a lead in the second half. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 20. [MIN - RB Alexander Mattison posts 153 total yards]() Source: NFL.com Minnesota Vikings RB [Alexander Mattison](=) rushed for 113 yards on 25 carries against the Detroit Lions in Week 5. He also caught seven passes for 40 yards and one touchdown during the game. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Mattison was the engine of the offense with Dalvin Cook inactive. Cook presumably will return next week, but Mattison has shown league winner upside in the two games Cook missed this year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 21. [ATL - RB Cordarrelle Patterson posts 114 total yards]() Source: NFL.com Atlanta Falcons RB/WR [Cordarrelle Patterson](=) caught seven passes for 60 yards against the New York Jets in Week 5. He also rushed for 54 yards on 14 carries during the game. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Patterson is a cornerstone of this offense and his fantasy value is here to stay. He'll remain a strong WR2/RB2 after his bye. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks.
