[DAL - WR Amari Cooper back in drills](#11) 12. [NO - New Orleans signs RB Ryquell Armstead](#12) 13. [CLE - QB Baker Mayfield playing through injury](#13) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [ATL - WR Calvin Ridley Out For Week 5]( Source: ESPN.com - Michael Rothstein Atlanta Falcons WR [Calvin Ridley](=) (undisclosed) is out of practice Thursday, Oct. 7. He will not travel with the team to London. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Ridley has been declared out with a personal issue. The Falcons are also missing Russell Gage (ankle) this week as they travel to London to take on the Jets. They are incredibly thin at the wide receiver position in Week 5. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [CAR - Another practice for RB Christian McCaffrey](=) Source: ESPN.com - David Newton Carolina Panthers RB [Christian McCaffrey](=) (hamstring) practiced Thursday, Oc. 7, for the second straight day. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's a good sign for McCaffrey's availability. He's certainly trending in the right direction and Fantasy GMs are feeling better. If you're a start-your-studs type of player, then go with McCaffrey if he plays. However, there will be some who want to wait and see what he looks like in one game...and if he can get through a game...before trusting him back in the lineup. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [CAR - RB Christian McCaffrey hopeful]() Source: NBC Sports Philadelphia - Dave Zangaro Carolina Panthers RB [Christian McCaffrey](=) (hamstring) won't be put in danger, but head coach Matt Rhule said he's hopeful McCaffrey plays in Week 5. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Panthers did not put McCaffrey on short-term IR, so there's a chance he plays this week after missing Week 4. Fantasy GMs should consider him a game-time decision at this point and should keep an eye on his practice status on Friday. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [DAL - RB Ezekiel Elliott ramping up]( Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper Dallas Cowboys RB [Ezekiel Elliott](=) (knee) will at least participate in individual drills Thursday, Oct. 7, according to head coach Mike McCarthy, after sitting out practice the previous day. If Elliott shows well in individual drills he will participate in team drills. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Elliott should be out there on Friday. He's in line to start and star for the Cowboys again, working as a RB1 for Fantasy GMs in Week 5. The Cowboys face the Giants on Sunday, and this game is going to be quite interesting for the NFC East. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [DET - TE T.J. Hockenson back practicing]( Source: DetroitLions.com - Tim Twentyman Detroit Lions TE [T.J. Hockenson](=) (knee) was seen during the open portion of practice Thursday, Oct. 7, after sitting out the previous day. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's a good sign for Hockenson, and we're expecting him to get a full practice in on Friday. Fantasy GMs can trust Hockenson as a TE1 against the Vikings on Sunday. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [WAS - Antonio Gibson limited Thursday]( Source: The Washington Post - Nicki Jhabvala Washington Football Team RB [Antonio Gibson](=) (shin) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 7, after sitting out the previous day. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Good sign for Gibson, but Friday is still the day to watch. If he's limited on Thursday, then we'll see if he can be full on Friday. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [DEN - Albert Okwuegbunam injures hamstring](=) Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis Denver Broncos TE [Albert Okwuegbunam](=) (hamstring) sustained a hamstring injury in practice Wednesday, Oct. 6, and isn't practicing Thursday. He also is in danger of missing the team's Week 4 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Broncos are already without WRs Jerry Jeudy and K.J. Hamler. Okwuegbunam is a talented backup behind Noah Fant, and he can be a factor in the red zone. This could lead to more targets for Fant, and the Broncos could use Eric Saubert a little more. [Sign Up Now](=) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [DEN - QB Teddy Bridgewater to practice]() Source: Denver7 Sports - Troy Renck Denver Broncos QB [Teddy Bridgewater](=) (concussion) has been cleared to practice Thursday, Oct. 7, with limitations. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The team thinks Bridgewater can play on Sunday against the Steelers. He's going through the concussion protocol and needs to show no after effects from practicing. If Bridgewater doesn't play, Drew Lock will get the start. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [CIN - 2 backs would share Cincy workload](=) Source: ESPN.com - Ben Baby Cincinnati Bengals RBs [Samaje Perine](=) and [Chris Evans](=) would likely split touches in Week 5 if RB [Joe Mixon](=) (ankle) is forced to miss the game Sunday, Oct. 10, with an ankle injury, Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan said Thursday, Oct. 7. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Keep an eye on Mixon's status for Friday's practice. Perine would be the lead ball-carrier if Mixon can't go, and he's got RB2/flex appeal if he starts. Evans is a talented rookie who can serve as a pass-catching back. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [DEN - RB Melvin Gordon returns to practice]() Source: ESPN.com - Jeff Legwold Denver Broncos RB [Melvin Gordon](=) (leg) was back taking limited practice reps Thursday, Oct. 7, after sitting out the previous day. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Gordon had the leg injury last week and was able to play against the Ravens. He's the starter for the Broncos but the team does use rookie Javonte Williams in a 50-50 RBBC. Add in the fact they don't run the ball that much, and you can consider him a RB2/flex play. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [DAL - WR Amari Cooper back in drills]( Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper Dallas Cowboys WR [Amari Cooper](=) (hamstring) on Thursday, Oct. 7, participated in individual drills after sitting out practice the previous day. Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said Cooper will then advance to team drills if he shows well in individual workouts. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] You can tell watching games that Cooper is not at full strength. He's working through this and Fantasy GMs can consider a less-than-100 percent Cooper a WR2 or flex option in Week 5. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [NO - New Orleans signs RB Ryquell Armstead]( Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates The New Orleans Saints signed free-agent RB Ryquell Armstead (Giants) to the practice squad on Wednesday, Oct. 6. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Saints needed more depth at the running back position with Tony Jones banged up with an ankle injury and on Injured Reserve. They have Alvin Kamara as their starter and will use Dwayne Washington/Ty Montgomery as reserve backs. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [CLE - QB Baker Mayfield playing through injury](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Cleveland Browns QB [Baker Mayfield](=) (shoulder) has been wearing a shoulder harness and will continue to play through a torn labrum in his left shoulder. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Mayfield has not looked like himself this season, and now we know why. The Browns will continue to monitor Mayfield and manage this injury as best as possible. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family.
