[MIA - Tua Tagovailoa checks out]() Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero Miami Dolphins QB [Tua Tagovailoa](=) (ribs) had X-rays that were negative, and his bruised ribs didn't reveal any major issues. It'll be about pain tolerance moving forward. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Rib injuries are painful to deal with. The team can put a flak jacket on Tagovailoa to protect him and he could get a shot before the game to numb the pain. We'll see if they'll be without the second-year pro in a make-or-break year, or if they'll need to roll with Jacoby Brissett as the starter. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [IND - QB Carson Wentz hurt both ankles](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Indianapolis Colts QB [Carson Wentz](=) (ankles) injured both of his ankles in Week 2 and is having tests done Monday, Sept. 20. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jacob Eason would fill in for Wentz if need be, just like he did on Sunday with disastrous results. The Colts offense would be downgraded if Eason is starting for them. We'll know more when the test results for Wentz's ankles is revealed. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [HOU - QB Deshaun Watson not an option]() Source: NFL Network - Andrew Siciliano Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson will not play in Week 3, according to manager David Culley. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Watson is unlikely to play for the Texans ever again. He's in limbo as the legal process continues and the Texans wait for the opportunity to trade him away. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [CHI - QB Andy Dalton receives good news](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Chicago Bears QB [Andy Dalton](=) (knee) suffered no damage to his anterior cruciate ligament or medial collateral ligament, according to a source. He'll have an MRI Monday, Sept. 20, and the early diagnosis is a bone bruise. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's good news for Dalton, but could it be bad news for the Bears? They have an opportunity to go with rookie first-round pick Justin Fields now that Dalton is banged up. We'll see if that's a choice they want to make. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [JAX - Laviska Shenault not seriously hurt]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Jacksonville Jaguars WR [Laviska Shenault](=) Jr. (shoulder) is expected to practice this week and be available for Week 3 against the Arizona Cardinals, according to head coach Urban Meyer. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Shenault is a talented player who can line up in a variety of spots to hurt a defense. The main problem he had in college (injuries) have followed him to the pros. He's good when healthy but will struggle to stay healthy. Many Fantasy GMs are shutting him down and moving on to waiver wire additions like K.J. Osborn (Vikings) if possible. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [CAR - RB Christian McCaffrey good to go for Week 3]( Source: Around The NFL Carolina Panthers RB [Christian McCaffrey](=) (calf) is expected to play his regular role in Week 3 against the Houston Texans after experiencing some cramping in his calf in Week 2, according to head coach Matt Rhule. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] McCaffrey could get a rest day on Wednesday if he needs it. He's the centerpiece of what they do on offense and will remain as such. [JAX - James O'Shaughnessy likely out multiple games]( Source: The Florida Times-Union - John Reid Jacksonville Jaguars TE James O'Shaughnessy (ankle) was diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain and is out indefinitely, according to John Reid of the Florida Times-Union. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] O'Shaughnessy could be out a month or so dealing with this injury which takes time to properly heal. The Jaguars can turn to Chris Manhertz to do more while O'Shaughnessy is out. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [PIT - WR Diontae Johnson OK]() Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo Updating previous reports, Pittsburgh Steelers WR [Diontae Johnson](=) (knee) didn't suffer a long-term injury, according to a source. Johnson's status for next week is to be determined, though. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Johnson has been targeted 22 times over the first two games of the 2021 season. He's clearly a favorite target of QB Ben Roethlisberger and can post WR2/flex numbers on a weekly basis. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [CLE - WR Jarvis Landry week to week](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Cleveland Browns WR [Jarvis Landry](=) (knee) is week to week with a sprained medial collateral ligament, according to head coach Kevin Stefanski. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] A sprained MCL could keep Landry out of action for some time. The Browns are waiting to see if they can get Odell Beckham Jr (knee) back in Week 3. If not, they'll roll with Donovan Peoples-Jones, Anthony Schwartz and Rashard Higgins as their top three wideouts. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [HOU - Nico Collins could miss a month]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Houston Texans WR [Nico Collins](=) (shoulder) is expected to be sidelined three to four weeks with the shoulder injury he suffered in Week 2, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Collins is a big-bodied rookie who we like in dynasty formats. Without Collins, the Texans turn to Danny Amendola and Chris Conley in three-receiver sets. Brandin Cooks is the only Texans skill position player Fantasy GMs should trust. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [MIA - WR Will Fuller returns to team Monday]() Source: ESPN.com - Cameron Wolfe Miami Dolphins WR Will Fuller (personal) was spotted at the team's facility and is reportedly participating in team functions Monday, Sept. 20, after sitting out last week to deal with a personal issue. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Good news for Fuller and the Dolphins here. He missed Week 1 serving the end of a suspension and then he missed Week 2 with this personal issue. Dolphins coach Brian Flores says Fuller will be out there in Week 3, and Fantasy GMs can look at him as a flex play against the Raiders. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [SF - 49ers taking a look at two FA backs]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Free-agent RBs Duke Johnson and Lamar Miller are scheduled to visit with the San Francisco 49ers soon, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The 49ers will be looking for running back help with both JaMycal Hasty (ankle) and Trey Sermon (concussion) banged up. Even Elijah Mitchell suffered a shoulder injury he came back from. Mitchell and Trenton Cannon are the only two healthy (ish) backs on the roster. Johnson and Miller have plenty of experience and would give the 49ers veteran depth if added. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family.
