I don't have a bunch of fancy words. Just know this: We're with you.... I'm well aware you read this email for fantasy football information so let's get to that. Quick reminder: The first weekend of every NFL season is challenging from a technical perspective with servers and all the things that go into keeping a website up and running. We've done everything we can here and fully believe we're prepared. But if any site or league platform is going to have technical trouble, Sunday of Week 1 is the most likely time for something to go wrong. So with that said, play it smart and set your lineups today. Don't wait until Saturday night or Sunday morning just in case your league platform has trouble. Hopefully, all goes perfectly. But better to be safe. Also, please check out the graphic below from our friends at Thrive Fantasy. I love these folks and their site and I bet you will too. Now let's get to some News and Notes. [DET - D'Andre Swift not on injury report]( Source: DetroitLions.com Detroit Lions RB D'Andre Swift (groin) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 10, and is not on the injury report for Week 1. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Swift may not be 100 percent because of this groin issue, but he's good to go for Week 1. He's likely to be the centerpiece of what the Lions do on offense in 2021. That makes Swift a RB2 with upside for Fantasy GMs. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [LAC - RB Austin Ekeler takes part in practice Friday]( Source: The Athletic - Daniel Popper Los Angeles Chargers RB Austin Ekeler (hamstring) returned to limited practice Friday, Sept. 10. He's still listed as questionable. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This seems like mostly good news for the Chargers here. Fantasy GMs are still nervous though due to this injury. He's practicing on Friday so that's a good sign for Ekeler in Week 1. When good to go, he's an RB1 in all formats. Watch this one closely for more info Saturday. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [WAS - WR Curtis Samuel lands on IR]() Source: ESPN.com - John Keim Washington Football Team WR Curtis Samuel (groin) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list with a groin injury Friday, Sept. 10. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Samuel missed all of training camp and the preseason dealing with this groin issue with the idea that he would be ready for the start of the regular season. An aggravation/tweak to this injury caused the team to put him on IR. Now, Samuel will be out of action for at least the first three weeks of the regular season. Washington turns to Terry McLaurin, Dyami Brown, and Adam Humphries as their top trio at the wide receiver position. McLaurin is a star, Brown is an interesting deep threat and Humphries is a security blanket who has flex appeal in PPR formats. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [LVR - RB Josh Jacobs limited again](=) Source: Raiders.com Las Vegas Raiders RB Josh Jacobs (toe) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 10. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We never like to see toe injuries and this bears watching. The Raiders play Monday night so there's an extra day in play here but keep an eye on Jacobs. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [NYJ - WR Jamison Crowder ruled out](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport New York Jets WR Jamison Crowder (illness) was ruled out for Week 1 against the Carolina Panthers. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] There's no getting louder with Crowder this weekend. The Jets slot receiver is out of action and his replacement is a bit of an unknown. They'll have target hog Corey Davis and exciting rookie Elijah Moore on the outside. Without Crowder we could just see more targets for TE Tyler Kroft. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [NYG - TE Evan Engram to miss the opener]( Source: The Record - Art Stapleton New York Giants TE Evan Engram (calf) did not practice all week and has been ruled out for Week 1 against the Denver Broncos. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This was expected. The Giants move forward with Kyle Rudolph as the starter. We should see more Kaden Smith too with Engram out. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [IND - No limitations for QB Carson Wentz]( Source: NFLCommunications.com Indianapolis Colts QB Carson Wentz (foot) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 10, and is not on the injury report for Week 1. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fingers crossed for Wentz here. This has been a nice recovery after a scare this summer. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [SEA - WR DK Metcalf limited with calf issue]( Source: Seahawks.com - John Boyle Seattle Seahawks WR DK Metcalf (calf) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 10, but is not on the injury report for Week 1. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Calf issues are notoriously tricky and we don't like seeing this for an explosive player like Metcalf. Watch this one closely to see if we get an update Saturday. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [DAL - WR Michael Gallup to miss several weeks]( Source: The Dallas Morning News - Michael Gehlken Dallas Cowboys WR Michael Gallup (calf) is expected to be sidelined for three to five weeks after an MRI revealed a strained calf, according to sources. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Tough break for Gallup and the Cowboys. QB Dak Prescott will miss him but the Cowboys have a wealth of receiving talent. [BAL - RB Latavius Murray terms](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Updating an earlier report, Baltimore Ravens RB Latavius Murray's one-year deal is for the veteran minimum but includes incentives that could wind up around $2 million. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This was the right move for the Ravens all along. Murray is a good all-purpose back who can thrive as a runner or receiver out of the backfield. A salary crunch caused the Saints to move on from Murray as he refused a pay cut. The Ravens are down to intriguing second-year player Ty'Son Williams as the lead back...for now. Murray will compete with Le'Veon Bell and Devonta Freeman to establish a pecking order in the backfield. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [HOU - QB Deshaun Watson ruled out](=) Source: HoustonTexans.com Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson (non-injury) did not participate in practice Friday, Sept. 10, and has been ruled out for Week 1. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Cut and paste this headline for the rest of the season. Everyone under the sun would be shocked if Watson ever suits up for the Texans again. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [BAL - TE Nick Boyle to short-term IR]() Source: BaltimoreRavens.com Baltimore Ravens TE Nick Boyle (knee) was placed on the short-term Reserve/Injured list Friday, Sept. 10, and he's expected to return this season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The move knocks Boyle out for at least the first three weeks of the regular season. The Ravens have Mark Andrews as their no.1 tight end and now Eric Tomlinson and Josh Oliver will work as reserves at the position. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [BUF - WR Emmanuel Sanders questionable](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Buffalo Bills WR [Emmanuel Sanders](=) (foot) is questionable for Week 1. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fantasy GMs should look elsewhere for flex help in deeper leagues. Sanders is a great fit for the Bills offense but he's battled foot injuries in the past. Gabriel Davis should see more work if Sanders has his snaps limited due to this injury. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [BUF - Week 1 injury report for Buffalo](=) Source: Buffalo Bills PR Buffalo Bills DT Star Lotulelei (calf) did not practice all week and has been ruled out for Week 1 versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. WR [Emmanuel Sanders](=) (foot) was limited all week and is listed as questionable. CB Taron Johnson (hand), WR Isaiah McKenzie (shoulder) and DT Harrison Phillips (knee) practiced in full Friday, Sept. 10, and no longer appear on the injury report. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Sanders is the player to watch here as he's dealt with foot problems in the past. If he's limited the Bills can turn to Gabriel Davis to do more in Week 1 against the Steelers. Fantasy GMs are best to find another deep flex option instead of Sanders or Davis this week. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [DET - TE T.J. Hockenson on track to play]( Source: DetroitLions.com Detroit Lions TE T.J. Hockenson (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 10, and is not on the injury report for Week 1. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Good news for the Lions here. They don't have a proven group of wide receivers, so QB Jared Goff may make Hockenson his favorite target in 2021. Fantasy GMs can look to Hockenson as a low-end TE1 anytime he plays. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [CAR - Carolina's injury report for Week 1]() Source: Panthers.com Carolina Panthers WR Shi Smith (shoulder) did not practice all week and has been ruled out for Week 1 against the New York Jets. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Smith is an intriguing rookie prospect we're watching in dynasty formats. The Panthers are more than fine with their top three wide receivers Robby Anderson, D.J. Moore and Terrace Marshall. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 17. [BAL - RB Gus Edwards put on injured reserve]() Source: BaltimoreRavens.com Baltimore Ravens RB Gus Edwards (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list with a torn anterior cruciate ligament Friday, Sept. 10. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Edwards is done for the year, and the Ravens are scrambling to find help. They have Ty'Son Williams as their top back, but they went out and signed Le'Veon Bell, Devonta Freeman, Trenton Cannon and Latavius Murray. Williams is the lead back for now, and we'll see if any of those veterans work more into the mix.
