[] 1. [LVR - No concern over TE Darren Waller]( Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler Las Vegas Raiders TE Darren Waller (ankle) continues to miss training camp practices with an ankle injury, but ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler has been told that the issue isn't a concern. Instead, since it's early in the preseason, the team will take it slow with Waller, but it was a regular-season week he could practice and play. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Waller is being handled like a foundational part of the offense because he is. This news is a relief and makes it easier to stick with him as the TE2 off of the board. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [BAL - Rashod Bateman an option for IR?](=) Source: The Athletic - Jeff Zrebiec Baltimore Ravens WR Rashod Bateman (groin) may be a candidate to start the season on the Reserve/Injured list, in the opinion of The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec. Bateman would miss at least the first three weeks of the season if he is placed on IR. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Bateman already had to overcome a low volume pass offense to have fantasy relevance this year. Now that this injury is threatening his early season availability, he's not a viable pick in typical redraft leagues. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [SF - Trey Lance to play most of first half](=) Source: NBC Sports Bay Area - Matt Maiocco San Francisco 49ers QB Trey Lance will play a majority of the first half of the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 14, and could see some snaps in the second half depending on his snap total in the first half, according head coach Kyle Shanahan. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] No matter what Kyle Shanahan says, Lance has a chance to win the starting job over Jimmy Garoppolo. He has to play well enough to force Shanahan's hand, but based on camp reports, it sounds like he has been doing that in practice every day. Consider taking him in the second half of your draft no matter who your starting quarterback is. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [BUF - Zack Moss injury update](=) Source: Pro Football Focus - Doug Kyed Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills RB Zack Moss' (hamstring) hamstring injury is not considered serious, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's still troubling after Moss's inability to stay healthy kept him from taking over the backfield in Buffalo as a rookie. Free agent pickup Matt Breida is impressing and could turn this into a three-headed backfield yet. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [DEN - RB Mike Boone out 4-6 weeks]() Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Myles Simmons Denver Broncos RB Mike Boone (quadriceps) won't need surgery for his quadriceps injury suffered in practice Thursday, Aug. 12, after undergoing an MRI on Friday, but he still is expected to miss the next 4-to-6 weeks. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Royce Freeman will be the #3 back in the meantime. He could show out in the preseason and generate some trade interest from running back needy teams. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [NE - Rhamondre Stevenson shows out](=) Source: ESPN.com New England Patriots RB Rhamondre Stevenson rushed 10 times for 127 yards and two touchdowns in the first preseason game Thursday, Aug. 12. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Stevenson is probably going to get the Bill Belichick rookie running back redshirt year treatment, but a couple of more performances like this and he could get the team to put Sony Michel on the trade block. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [CIN - Joe Burrow may see preseason snaps](=) Source: ESPN - Ben Baby Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow (knee) has not been ruled out for all three preseason games at this point, according to head coach Zac Taylor. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The team doesn't want to rush Burrow back from knee surgery, but since the mental part of his knee recovery is slowing him down right now, getting back on the field with bodies flying around him and taking a hit or two could be the best medicine for shaking off hesitation. Until we hear that Burrow is trending in the right direction, we should be open to lowering expectations for the Bengals offense, at least early in the season. [] 8. [CLE - More targets for TE Austin Hooper?](=) Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot Cleveland Browns TE Austin Hooper is slated for a less blocking and a larger role in the team's passing game this season, according to report from a team beat writer Friday, Aug. 13. 'We're going to grow his role,'' Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said recently. 'He really understands now in Year 2 how we plan to use him, and again, I do believe his role can grow.' The key, the article said, will be developing more chemistry in Year 2 with QB Baker Mayfield. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hooper could move into the low TE1 range in a best case scenario, but he's still a limited upside play in a low volume pass offense. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [LAR - Darious Williams expected back soon]() Source: The Athletic - Jourdan Rodrigue Los Angeles Rams CB Darious Williams (ankle) is expected to return to practice next week. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Williams is a key player for the Rams defense. He'll replace Troy Hill and see a lot of balls thrown his way since he's opposite Jalen Ramsey. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [PIT - Pittsburgh acquires ILB Joe Schobert]() Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero Jacksonville Jaguars LB Joe Schobert was acquired by the Pittsburgh Steelers Thursday, Aug. 12, according to a source. It is not known what the Jaguars will receive in return. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Schobert was due 7.3 million this year and the Jaguars are only getting a late round pick, so this was basically a salary dump. The Jaguars liked Damien Wilson better next to Myles Jack on the strength of Schobert's run defense, and the Steelers wanted a better coverage linebacker than Robert Spillane next to Devin Bush. This move is a rejection of the previous regime's plan at linebacker as Schobert was a big signing for the last general manager Dave Caldwell just last year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [LAC - No preseason games for WR Keenan Allen]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen will not play in any preseason games this season, according to head coach Brandon Staley. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] They don't need to see anything from him. Allen had 100 catches last year even though he missed two games and parts of two others. He's a solid pick in the third round. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [CHI - WR Allen Robinson a limited participant]() Source: Chicago Tribune - Brad Biggs Chicago Bears WR Allen Robinson (hamstring) was a limited participant during practice Thursday, Aug. 12. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] There's no need to be worried about Robinson unless this is still an issue in September. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [PIT - QB Ben Roethlisberger to play next week]( Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - Gerry Dulac Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger will play in the preseason game against the Detroit Lions Saturday, Aug. 21. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Roethlisberger has a new slimmed down profile and hopefully his arm is better now two years removed from elbow surgery. He can also use the reps in the new offense under Matt Canada. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [DET - Detroit parts ways with CB Quinton Dunbar](=) Source: DetroitLions.com Detroits Lions CB Quinton Dunbar was released on Thursday, Aug. 12. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Dunbar has gone from possible starter to off of the team after being away for a week to deal with a personal issue. The Lions secondary was already thin, now Amani Oruwariye and Mike Ford will be asked to play crucial roles at cornerback.
