[DAL - QB Dak Prescott throws]() Source: ESPN.com - Todd Archer Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott (shoulder) did some light throwing Saturday, Aug. 7, for the first time since straining his shoulder July 28. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The shoulder injury is considered minor, so it's a good sign that he's back to throwing already. The Cowboys will keep him limited as he returns so that he can be ready to go for Week 1 of the regular season. This is one of the most high-powered offenses in the league but hinges on Prescott's health. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [MIN - Justin Jefferson expected back soon]( Source: St. Paul Pioneer Press - Chris Tomasson Minnesota Vikings WR Justin Jefferson (shoulder) should return to practice in the near future, according to head coach Mike Zimmer. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fantasy GMs and Vikings fans can breathe a sigh of relief here. Jefferson's shoulder injury was thought to be minor and if he's returning soon that's the case. The Broncos are in town for joint practices before their preseason debut on Saturday. Because of the heated nature joint practices can have, we doubt Jefferson is out there against the Broncos - in practice or the game. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [NYG - RB Saquon Barkley returns to practice](=) Source: New York Post - Paul Schwartz New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley (knee) was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list and returned to practice Monday, Aug. 9. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Good news for the Giants here. Barkley will likely be eased back into action as the team gets him ready for Week 1 of the regular season. The team could limit his September workload depending on his recovery status. Keep this in mind when considering Barkley with a first-round pick in your fantasy drafts. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [NYG - RB Saquon Barkley optimistic about opener]() Source: ESPN.com - Jordan Raanan New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley (knee) said he hopefully will be ready for the start of the regular season now that he has returned to practice. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Barkley is back to practice this week, and the team is wisely being cautious with him on his road to recovery. He's optimistic for Week 1 but that doesn't mean he'll be 100 percent at that time. In fact, there's a chance the team limits him in the month of September. As the season draws near, we'll have more data points with Barkley going through practice. Stay tuned. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [HOU - QB Deshaun Watson limited](=) Source: The Athletic - Aaron Reiss Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson (foot) took part in the early portion of practice Monday, Aug. 9, but he didn't participate in team drills. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That sounds like the plan for Watson going forward so long as he's on the Texans roster. There was some buzz about the Eagles/Texans heating up talks for a Watson trade but nothing has come to fruition yet. Who knows when everything is going to be resolved with Watson but we feel confident that he'll never suit up for the Texans again. [NE - TE Hunter Henry having MRI]() Source: NFL Network - Michael Giardi New England Patriots TE Hunter Henry (shoulder) is having an MRI on his shoulder Monday, Aug. 9. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Patriots are always rather secretive about injury situations, so we'll have to wait and see if we get the results from the MRI. Henry is competing to be the no.2 tight end for the Patriots behind Jonnu Smith. Even if he was the second tight end for them, New England could be running plenty of 2-TE sets this year. Second-year pro Devin Asiasi will get more time if Henry has to miss time. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [NO - PK Wil Lutz having surgery](=) Source: Twitter Updating an earlier report, New Orleans Saints PK Wil Lutz (groin) has opted to have surgery to repair a core muscle. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Saints are in scramble mode with about a month left before the start of the regular season. Lutz's recovery from surgery could keep him out of action until October. Fantasy GMs aren't stashing kickers in most leagues, so Lutz will go undrafted this summer. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [MIN - Minnesota adds Warren Jackson]() Source: Vikings.com - Eric Smith Free-agent WR Warren Jackson (Broncos) signed with the Minnesota Vikings Monday, Aug. 9. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jackson was a big-bodied wide receiver the Broncos picked up as a UDFA out of Colorado State in May. He's got a large wingspan and can play "above the rim" in the end zone. We'll see if he can impress enough for a spot on the practice squad with the Vikings. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [ATL - D'Onta Foreman signs with Falcons](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Free-agent RB D'Onta Foreman (Titans) signed an undisclosed deal with the Atlanta Falcons Monday, Aug. 9. OT Kaleb McGary (undisclosed) was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Foreman joins a team to give them veteran depth. He's a power back who is going to try and find a spot at the end of the depth chart. Mike Davis is the team's starter and a low-end RB2 with upside for Fantasy GMs in 2021. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [TB - TE Cameron Brate cleared to practice]() Source: NFL.com Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate (undisclosed) was activated from the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list Monday, Aug. 9. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Brate will get out there as the no.3 tight end for the Buccaneers behind O.J. Howard and Rob Gronkowski. He's a talented player who could have a role for them, albeit a small one unless injuries strike above him on the depth chart. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family.
