Our Ryan Hester breaks down the tight ends he feels fit the sweet spot for risk and reward. B. [Avoid These First Round Potential Busts](=) We asked the Footballguys Staff which players they felt had the potential to bust in the first round. This is what they said. C. [The Audible Show - Top 5 NFL Training Camp Worries]( Cecil Lammey, Sigmund Bloom, Matt Waldman and Dr. Jene Bramel discuss the latest news and notes from around the NFL and NFL training camps. [] INSIDE THIS ISSUE 1. [MIN - Justin Jefferson not practicing](#1) 2. [HOU - Davis Mills struggling at camp](#2) 3. [TB - TE Tanner Hudson to have a role?](#3) 4. [LAR - John Wolford undergoes appendectomy](#4) 5. [LAR - Xavier Jones in mix for backup spot](#5) 6. [TEN - Cody Hollister placed on injured reserve](#6) 7. [MIN - WR Dede Westbrook optimistic about Week 1](#7) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [MIN - Justin Jefferson not practicing]( Source: St. Paul Pioneer Press - Chris Tomasson Minnesota Vikings WR Justin Jefferson (shoulder) is on the sideline at the team's stadium practice Saturday, Aug. 7, but is not participating in drills. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Jefferson is considered "day-to-day" after spraining his AC joint in practice on Friday. He avoided the worst-case scenario and the team will be cautious with him as they bring him back. With only three preseason games, the Vikings may choose to shut him down until Week 1 of the regular season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [HOU - Davis Mills struggling at camp]() Source: The Athletic - Aaron Reiss Houston Texans QB Davis Mills has appeared 'slow to process' and has struggled with interceptions during training camp, according to Aaron Reiss of The Athletic. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] No surprise here. Mills is a rookie and making the jump to the NFL this year will have some bumps in the road. Pegged by some as the quarterback of the future for the Texans, the third-round pick out of Stanford has a lot to learn. With only 11 career starts in college, Mills is a mobile quarterback who throws a nice ball. However, injuries (left knee) are a major concern and he has to learn to make better decisions as a passer. We'll monitor him in dynasty formats, and the Texans will likely go with veteran Tyrod Taylor as their starter for most of the 2021 season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [TB - TE Tanner Hudson to have a role?](=) Source: ESPN.com - Jenna Laine Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Tanner Hudson should become a 'viable regular-season contributor' in 2021, according to Jenna Laine of ESPN.com. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hudson is an interesting player to monitor in deep dynasty formats. Originally an undrafted free agent for the Buccaneers coming out of Southern Arkansas in 2018, Hudson has flashed in the preseason while doing little in the regular season. A converted quarterback/wide receiver/punter from college, Hudson is once again turning heads in Bucs camp. Let's monitor him during the preseason to see if he can make the team as no.4 on the depth chart behind Rob Gronkowski, O.J. Howard and Cameron Brate. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [LAR - John Wolford undergoes appendectomy]() Source: ESPN.com - Lindsey Thiry Los Angeles Rams QB John Wolford (illness) underwent an appendectomy Friday, Aug. 6, and is expected to be sidelined for about two weeks. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Wolford is working as the primary backup to Matthew Stafford. While he's out, the Rams will give more reps to guys like Bryce Perkins and Devlin Hodges. [LAR - Xavier Jones in mix for backup spot](=) Source: ESPN.com - Lindsey Thiry Los Angeles Rams RB Xavier Jones could have a slight edge over RB Raymond Calais and RB Jake Funk in the competition to be the primary backup to RB Darrell Henderson, according to Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This is an important battle to monitor during the preseason. Undrafted out of SMU in 2020, Jones is pegged by most Fantasy GMs as the primary target behind Henderson. We'll see Henderson as the lead back for the Rams this year, but he hasn't been a true workhorse back since high school and the team wants to keep him fresh. That means someone like Jones could get more snaps than some think. Keep him on your waiver wire speed dial in most formats. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [TEN - Cody Hollister placed on injured reserve](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Tennessee Titans WR Cody Hollister (ankle) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Aug. 7, after suffering a high-ankle sprain during practice Friday, Aug. 6. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] High-ankle sprains linger, so it could be some time before Hollister is available. He was a long-shot to make the Titans anyway and will likely have to try for a spot somewhere else if an injury settlement can be reached. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [MIN - WR Dede Westbrook optimistic about Week 1]( Source: St. Paul Pioneer Press - Chris Tomasson Minnesota Vikings WR Dede Westbrook (knee) said he is confident that he will be ready for the start of the regular season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] With Olabisi Johnson (knee) done for the year, the Vikings need Westbrook to be ready for Week 1 as their no.3 receiver behind Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen. They'll take it easy on Westbrook just like they did in the first week of training camp to make sure the speedster is ready. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family. We'll see you tomorrow with the Update. Have a great rest of your weekend.
