[PIT - Early exit for Pat Freiermuth on Tuesday](#15) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [IND - Quenton Nelson having surgery](=) Source: Colts.com Indianapolis Colts OG Quenton Nelson (foot) will undergo foot surgery and miss five to 12 weeks. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The hits keep rolling for the Colts. Nelson is a fantastic player and his loss will be a blow to this offense. We'll be watching to see how the Colts fill the void. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [KC - WR Tyreek Hill a no-go Tuesday]( Source: NFL Network - James Palmer Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill (knee) did not take part in practice Tuesday, Aug. 3, due to knee tendinitis, according to head coach Andy Reid. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hill is getting some rest and the team might limit him in the preseason. Once the regular season hits, Hill should be back to his normal self. Hill is a late first-round pick in most formats, with a current ADP of WR2 (1.11) in 12-team PPR formats. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [CHI - RB Tarik Cohen nowhere close to return]() Source: WSCR Radio-Chicago - Mark Grote Chicago Bears RB Tarik Cohen (knee) is 'weeks away' from being activated off the Physically Unable to Perform list, according to comments made by head coach Matt Nagy on Tuesday, Aug. 3. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] If he's 'weeks away' then that means Cohen is unlikely to return for training camp and the preseason. In fact, there's a chance that Cohen could begin the regular season on the PUP list. This means the Bears could lean on Damien Williams to do a little more when starter David Montgomery needs a rest. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [LAR - QB Matthew Stafford avoids serious injury](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford (thumb) is dealing with a swollen thumb after X-rays on his injury came back negative Tuesday, Aug. 3. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Great news for the Rams here. Stafford will likely miss a few days of practice but nothing more. John Wolford will get some more work while Stafford is down. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [NYG - WR Kenny Golladay's day cut short Tuesday]() Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper New York Giants WR Kenny Golladay (leg) suffered an apparent left leg injury during practice Tuesday, Aug. 3. He immediately went to the sideline and then with trainers inside the team's facility for further evaluation, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We'll have to wait and see what's going on with Golladay before commenting further. The Giants no.1 receiver is there to help QB Daniel Jones in a make-or-break year for the young passer. We'll see what's going on with his leg when more information is revealed. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [DAL - Dallas being conservative with QB Dak Prescott]( Source: Dallas Morning News - Michael Gehlken Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott (shoulder) has not experienced any kind of setback with his shoulder injury, but head coach Mike McCarthy and the training staff have decided to be a 'little more conservative with the rehab' upon further reflection. As such, Prescott will not play in the Hall of Fame game on Thursday, Aug. 5. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] No surprise here. With the Hall of Fame Game, the Cowboys will be playing this week and there's no need to put Prescott out there for an exhibition game. If all continues well with his rehab, then perhaps Prescott will play in a game or two the rest of the preseason. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [HOU - QB Deshaun Watson update](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Updating an earlier report, Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson (foot, ankle) was looked at by the trainers Monday, Aug. 2, for a foot or ankle injury. He was held out of practice Tuesday, Aug. 3, due to the lingering injury. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Texans were in pads for the first time on Tuesday. They didn't want to get Watson hurt, so they held him out of practice. This injury could linger a little longer while the team figures out what they must do with him. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [NYJ - Elijah Moore rises up depth chart]() Source: The Athletic - Connor Hughes New York Jets WR Elijah Moore worked with the first team - ahead of Keelan Cole - on the first play of practice for the first time Tuesday, Aug. 3. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The drumbeat continues. All offseason long we've heard nothing but good things about the rookie Moore coming out of Jets camp. He's working with the first team early in training camp and we're excited to see what he can do in the preseason. [TEN - WR Julio Jones makes early exit Monday]( Source: The Tennessean - Ben Arthur Tennessee Titans WR Julio Jones (undisclosed) left practice early after falling awkwardly during practice Monday, Aug. 2. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Although he did not return, head coach Mike Vrabel told reporters afterward that Jones was merely being rested for the rest of practice. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [ATL - WR Calvin Ridley feeling confident in foot]() Source: AtlantaFalcons.com - Scott Bair Atlanta Falcons WR Calvin Ridley told reporters Tuesday, Aug. 3, that his surgically repaired foot is 'totally, definitely fixed.' Ridley added that his foot was not in good shape last season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Ridley was bothered by his foot injury for most of the 2020 season and that's why he had offseason surgery to repair it. What he was able to do on a bad foot (90 catches, 1,374 yards, nine touchdowns) is incredible in hindsight. This year with Julio Jones traded away Ridley is set to be targeted early and often in 2021. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [ARI - WR Christian Kirk not practicing]() Source: ESPN.com - Josh Weinfuss Arizona Cardinals WR Christian Kirk (undisclosed) has been nursing a minor undisclosed injury recently, but head coach Kliff Kingsbury told reporters Tuesday, Aug. 3, that he expects Kirk back 'soon.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's an undisclosed injury so who knows what's keeping Kirk out of action. If he's going to return soon as Kingsbury says then it must not be anything too major. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [ATL - Atlanta checks in on D'Onta Foreman]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Free-agent RB D'Onta Foreman (Titans) is trying out with the Atlanta Falcons on Tuesday, Aug. 3. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Foreman is a big veteran back who runs with authority when healthy. The Falcons haven't made a move yet, so they might just be updating their emergency list here. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [NYG - RB Alfred Morris returns to NY Giants](=) Source: NFLCommunications.com Free-agent RB Alfred Morris (Giants) signed an undisclosed contract with the New York Giants on Monday, Aug. 2. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Morris is back with the Giants to give them veteran depth in the backfield. The Giants say there's a chance Saquon Barkley will be ready for Week 1 of the regular season. If he's not, then they could turn to Devontae Booker and Morris to run the rock. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [IND - Jacob Eason to be busy in preseason opener]( Source: The Athletic - Stephen Holder Indianapolis Colts QB Jacob Eason is expected to play about two quarters against the Carolina Panthers in the teams' preseason opener on Aug. 15, according to head coach Frank Reich. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Colts have to give Eason a lot of work. He's in line to be the starter with Carson Wentz out for the start of the regular season. Eason is a big-bodied pocket passer with a big arm and say-it-don't-spray-it accuracy. The Colts insist they are not interested in trading for a veteran (like Nick Foles) but that sentiment could change if Eason doesn't look good in the preseason. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [PIT - Early exit for Pat Freiermuth on Tuesday]( Source: ESPN - Brooke Pryor Pittsburgh Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth (shoulder) was unable to finish practice Tuesday, Aug. 3, and was later spotted icing his left shoulder. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] No idea of the severity just yet. Freiermuth has drawn a lot of "Baby Gronk" comparisons because of his size and strength combination, but we think he's actually more like former Steelers tight end Heath Miller. We'll see if the rookie from Penn State has to miss some time due to this shoulder injury. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being a part of the Footballguys Family.
