[GB - QB Aaron Rodgers reports]() Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers arrived at training camp Tuesday, July 27. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Rodgers drama this offseason had Packers fans on the edge of their seat, and it had Broncos fans getting hopeful. In the end, Rodgers returns for one more season and then things will be reassessed before 2022. This is his "last dance" (most likely) with Green Bay, and it could end with a run at the Super Bowl. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [SF - No QB competition in San Francisco](=) Source: San Jose Mercury News - Cam Inman San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo will take the starter's reps in practice and won't face an 'open competition' for the job from Trey Lance, according to comments made by head coach Kyle Shanahan on Tuesday, July 27. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Just because Garoppolo won't face an open competition doesn't mean he can't lose the starting job in training camp and the preseason. Garoppolo is on a short leash if he does win the job as the team paid a king's ransom to move up for Lance at the no.3 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft. Lance is clearly the QB of the future and that future may be here sooner than some think. Stay tuned. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [GB - WR Randall Cobb back to Green Bay?]( Source: CBSSports.com - Jonathan Jones Houston Texans WR Randall Cobb is being sought after by Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers, and a trade is likely to happen. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Packers made several concessions to get Rodgers back in the fold for one more year. We're certain they'll get him Cobb if that's what he wants. Adding Cobb back to the roster gives them another weapon with WR Davante Adams in the passing game and gives Rodgers a player he can trust. The Packers did draft Amari Rodgers in the third round this year to play a Cobb-like role, but they could ease the rookie in with Cobb showing him the ropes. Stay tuned. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [CHI - Justin Fields draws praise from head coach]( Source: ESPN.com - Jeff Dickerson Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields 'clearly did his homework' and has 'really impressed' with the progress he has made since the end of offseason workouts, according to comments made by head coach Matt Nagy on Tuesday, July 27. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fields is competing for the starting quarterback job with Andy Dalton. The 2021 first-round pick knows how to go through his progressions and will do his best to find the right target. He's smart and accurate, plus Fields can pull the ball down and run when need be. We'll see if the rookie can win the job to begin the regular season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [NYJ - Zach Wilson absent]() Source: The Athletic - Connor Hughes New York Jets first-round pick QB Zach Wilson is absent from training camp Tuesday, July 27. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] No worries here. Wilson is the only draft pick who has not signed yet. When he gets his rookie deal done, Wilson will be there and be in line to start from Week 1. New Jets coach Robert Saleh merely said, "When the (contract) gets done, it gets done." [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [WAS - TE Logan Thomas extended]() Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo Washington Football Team TE Logan Thomas signed a three-year extension Tuesday, July 27. Financial terms weren't disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Thomas came into the league as a quarterback coming out of Virginia Tech in 2014. He's big and athletic and has made the transition to tight end quite well. He could be a favorite target of QB Ryan Fitzpatrick in 2021 and should be considered a low-end TE1 for Fantasy GMs. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [CIN - No limitations for Joe Burrow](=) Source: ESPN - Ben Baby Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow (knee) has been cleared to all practice drills and will participate in team drills during practice, according to head coach Zac Taylor. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Burrow is good to go in practice. However, the Bengals are wisely shutting him down in the preseason. We won't see Burrow in game action until the Bengals open their season in Week 1. [DEN - Denver QBs to split reps evenly for now]() Source: The Denver Post - Kyle Newman Denver Broncos QBs Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater are expected to get an equal number of reps during training camp until a decision is made on which one will be named the starter, according to comments made by head coach Vic Fangio on Tuesday, July 27. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's a 50-50 battle between Lock and Bridgewater...at least that's what the team wants to push. Bridgewater may be the preferred quarterback as the team feels they can win a lot of games with him as their starter. Lock has higher upside, but he's not as good as Bridgewater based on what he did last year compared to what Bridgewater has done during his career. We'll see if Lock, in this totally 50-50 competition (wink), can impress more than Bridgewater and finally play up to the potential he's briefly flashed (mainly in 2019) as a pro. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [SF - WR Jalen Hurd good to go](=) Source: San Jose Mercury News - Cam Inman San Francisco 49ers WR Jalen Hurd (knee) is not expected to begin training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list. However, he will likely be limited throughout the first week of practice in camp at the very least. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hurd has missed all of his first two seasons in the NFL due to injury. Being ready, even though he's limited, is good news for the young wideout in a make-or-break year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [MIA - WR Preston Williams to PUP]( Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson Miami Dolphins WR Preston Williams (foot) was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list Tuesday, July 27. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Williams has talent but he's had trouble staying healthy over the last two years. He was carted off the field in Week 9 last year with this foot injury and some thought he'd be ready for the start of camp. The Dolphins decided otherwise, and now Williams will take more time to get fully healthy. With a revamped wide receiver room, Williams is at best the no.4 guy on the depth chart behind DeVante Parker, Jaylen Waddle and Will Fuller. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [CLE - WR Odell Beckham Jr. passes physical](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. (knee) passed his physical Tuesday, July 27, and is good to go for training camp. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] As most expected, Beckham is ready to go for training camp. He made it through seven games last year before going down with this knee injury. Beckham is in a make-or-break year with the Browns who have designs on a deep postseason run. We'll see if he can stay healthy and get back to the 1,000-yard range as a receiver. From a fantasy perspective, Beckham is a WR3/flex option with upside. His current ADP is WR27 (6.08) in 12-team PPR leagues. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [BAL - RB Gus Edwards to miss early part of camp]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Baltimore Ravens RB Gus Edwards (illness) recently tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss the first 10 days of training camp, according to multiple sources. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Edwards is a seasoned veteran who doesn't need every rep to be ready for the start of the regular season. However, he does need to get healthy and get out there for at least one preseason game. Edwards has tons of power and will work as a big-bodied complementary back to J.K. Dobbins. He's got enough fantasy potential to be a flex option for Fantasy GMs in 2021. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [DEN - WR Courtland Sutton to take it slow early](=) Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis Denver Broncos WR Courtland Sutton (knee) has been cleared for training camp, but his reps will be managed until further notice, based on comments made by head coach Vic Fangio on Tuesday, July 27. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That sounds about right. In a contract year, Sutton is ready to have the breakout season he was set to have last year before going down in Week 2 with a knee injury. If Teddy Bridgewater wins the starting job, Sutton will have to build chemistry with him. If Drew Lock is the Broncos starting quarterback, he'll greatly benefit from Sutton's presence. We'll see the Broncos quarterback competition play out in training camp and the preseason...then we'll have a better idea how it impacts the WR corps. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [IND - WR Parris Campbell to be full participant](=) Source: NFL.com Indianapolis Colts WR Parris Campbell (knee) will not have any limitations during training camp, according to general manager Chris Ballard. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Campbell has talent (he certainly has speed) but his two-year career has been marred by injuries and he's only played in nine games during that time. He was lost to a knee injury last year in Week 2, but he's had almost a year to recover. Campbell could be a nice slot target for QB Carson Wentz, leading to deep flex value in PPR leagues. His current ADP is WR60 (14.05) in 12-team PPR leagues. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks.
